It's a testament to Disney's branding that mainstream audiences don't necessarily know who directed or starred in some of their better-known movies. Although many have seen the studio's 1950 animated feature "Cinderella," most audiences wouldn't be able to tell you that Ilene Woods played the title character, or that Wilfred Jackson, Hamilton Luske, and Clyde Geronimi directed the film. Disney's "Aladdin" changed that with the casting of Robin Williams as the Genie. And the trend of hiring known screen celebrities, often not voice actors, to sell an animated feature to a broad audience went to a whole other level in the wake of DreamWorks' "Shrek." The advent of the internet also helped certain actresses become known among Disney fans. Nowadays, many adults know the names of the actresses who played characters like Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, or Ariel the Mermaid.

Jonathan Glazer’s The Zone of Interest started the night of the 96th Academy Awards as a bit of a dark horse. However, the German-language film took home two Oscars, including one for Best International Feature Film. The movie explores the life of a family living near the atrocities of the Auschwitz concentration camp.
Jonathan Glazer (Image Credit: A24)
Given the poignant nature of his film, it was only natural that Glazer’s acceptance speech at the prestigious ceremony would have some bold statements. While accepting the award, Glazer made a brave speech that not only reflected on the current inhumane actions taking place in the real world but also managed to win over the internet. Here is what Glazer said in his speech and how the internet is reacting to it.

When the young women lock eyes, a quiet intimacy blooms. Elodie (Millie Bobby Brown) doesn’t know the unnamed girl meeting her gaze from a balcony some distance away, but she feels connected to her. Their smiles awaken flashes of mutual recognition. They share a milky complexion and gentle regard. But this stranger is more than Elodie’s mirror; she is an eerie omen of the young princess’ fate.
In Damsel, Elodie tries to escape the conventions of her own story. Trapped in a world of manners and expectations, the princess seeks adventure and longs to prove her independence. The conceit is familiar: A handful of recent films (and TV shows) have given audiences royal women eagerly subverting the tropes of medieval romances. Disney’s Brave introduced Merida, a fiery archer who brought a more overt contemporary feminism to the entertainment conglomerate’s brand. The Princess starred Joey King as...

Upon its release last year, The Flash became one of the biggest mishaps in DC history, whose performance summed up the struggling state of the Dceu that finally ended with Aquaman 2. But while The Flash became a disaster for Wbd, which failed to break even, prior to its release, many Hollywood biggies claimed that it was the next big thing in CBMs, including Dcu head James Gunn.
Although many speculated that it was some sort of marketing strategy from Wbd’s side, surprisingly Gunn and Co. gave The Flash director Andy Muschietti the keys to Dcu’s Batman. And while many were in doubt, whether it was still the case or not following The Flash‘s failure, it seems Gunn is still putting faith in the It director to do the Caped Crusader justice.

The Dcu's The Brave and the Bold will recast Bruce Wayne's Batman, and introduce his son, Damian Wayne's Robin. The Brave and the Bold would benefit from introducing a lesser-known DC Comics villain, which happens to be a favored trend of James Gunn. The potential introduction of Professor Pyg as a villain could challenge the new Batman and Robin dynamic, adding depth to the storyline.
Ben Affleck's replacement as Bruce Wayne's Batman in The Brave and the Bold would benefit from facing an important new DC Universe villain. The Brave and the Bold was first announced during DC Studios co-ceo James Gunn's January 2023 reveal of the rebooted Dcu's Chapter 1, "Gods and Monsters", alongside other upcoming projects, including Superman: Legacy, Booster Gold and Creature Commandos. While not much is yet known about the storyline or casting for the Dcu's new The Brave and the Bold project, the Batman-centric reboot may...

Jensen Ackles is the fan-favorite choice to play Batman in the Dcu's The Brave and the Bold Batman reboot movie. Ackles has shown that he has what it takes to play Batman in live-action and has voiced Batman in DC's animated Tomorrowverse continuity. Striking fan concept art of what Ackles could look like as the Dcu's Batman, both with and without the Dark Knight's cowl, looks comic book-accurate.

Cygames Pictures successfully disguised the true identity of Bang Brave Bang Bravern through intentionally misleading trailers, surprising audiences with its Super Robot genre twist. Masaomi Obari's involvement in Bravern, known for his heroic robot battles, hinted at something more than the initial military-focused materials suggested. By combining genres and using self-awareness, Bravern distinguishes itself in the Super Robot genre, landing better than a straightforward approach would have.
Cygames Pictures' new mecha anime, Bang Brave Bang Bravern, fooled plenty of audiences with its last-minute reveal that it is a Super Robot show. This was thanks to its intentionally misleading trailers and pre-release materials, which presented the show as a standard war story. While the change is shocking, it ultimately is to Bravern's benefit, as it distinguishes itself with its bombastic resurrection of this mecha sub-genre.
Masaomi Obari, who is directing Bravern, is associated more with heroic, super-powered robots battling straightforward villains.

The Dcu is set to produce more superhero teams including some lesser-known characters, especially given James Gunn's history of utilizing less popular heroes and villains. Viola Davis will reprise her role as Amanda Waller, the government agent responsible for creating teams like the Suicide Squad, in the Dcu. Amanda Waller has a history of creating and affiliating with various superhero teams, making her more suited for the role of team-maker than Batman in the Dcu.
When it comes to superhero teams, the Avengers is the most prolific, with four movies in sixteen years compared to the Dceu Justice League's one - but the Dcu could be about to produce a lot more. Aside from the Avengers, the MCU has also introduced teams like the Revengers, the Guardians, and, soon, the Thunderbolts. Disney Princesses in older movies made poor decisions due to their naivety and the way women were depicted at that time. In later Disney Princess movies, the protagonists' mistakes humanize them and set up the main conflicts. Movies like Frozen and Brave address and satirize the poor decisions made by princesses in older movies, treating the princesses as flawed individuals capable of learning and growing.
In the early days of Disney Princess movies, the "princess" characters were often naive young women who continuously let their guard down and suffer the consequences. These are among the Disney animated classics that did not age well. A Disney Princess making a poor decision could be due to an oversight in the writing process, but it is more likely a symptom of how women were often depicted in cinema in the early and mid-twentieth century.

Not surprisingly, our five leading contenders for Best Animated Feature at the Oscars also dominate the Annie Awards nominations announced on January 11. The predicted Oscar winner, “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse,” reaped a lucky seven nominations. However, it is another likely Oscar contender, “Nimona,” that topped the nominations chart with nine bids.
All three of these films contend for Best Studio Animated Feature as does six-time nominee “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem.” We expect another six-time nominee, “Elemental” to reap an Oscar bid for Best Animated Feature even though it was snubbed in the top race by the Annies. That category is filled out here by “Suzume,” which earned seven nominations in all.
The Best Independent Feature nominees are: “Ernest & Celestine: A Trip to Gibberitia,” “Four Souls of Coyote,” “Robot Dreams,” “The Inventor” and “White Plastic Sky.”
These precursor prizes are presented by the Hollywood chapter of the International Animated Film Association.

Black Noir isn’t the only supe making a surprise reappearance in The Boys season 4.
The first official trailer for the upcoming season reveals not only Black Noir alive and well in The Seven after his death the end of season 3, but also someone who looks a lot like Queen Maeve. Hope Runs High has acquired U.S. rights to Augusto Sandino’s sophomore feature “A Vanishing Fog,” which won the SXSW Zeiss cinematography prize. The film is slated for an early 2024 opening in U.S. theaters. It’s the first feature to be shot in Colombia’s Sumapaz Páramo, the largest ecosystem of its kind in the world.
“In the middle of the staggering and endangered Sumapaz Paramo ecosystem; F, a solitary explorer, strives to protect the mystical and fragile land he inhabits, while caring for his ailing father,” the synopsis reads.
“Augusto Sandino’s incredible blend of playful surrealism and the overwhelming individuality of the environment in which the film is set has stayed with me since my first viewing. I believe his ability to balance visual scale, cinematic playfulness, and true heart make him an artist we should be engaging with frequently,” said Hope Runs High curator Taylor Purdee.

Quick Links The Best Psychubes For Charlie The Best Team Composition For Charlie
Charlie is a main Dps in Reverse: 1999 who plays with Hp and buffs. She requires some time to build, as she can only supply her buffs once she starts gaining her Insight passives. However, once she gets both Insight Three and Portray Three, she can hover at a powerful buffed state between 80% and 50% Hp.
Charlie is a 5-star character with a Star Afflatus, making her Portrays easier to collect. Her Incantations have two different bonuses. If she casts Tempest To Thee! with less than 50% Hp, she deals up to 150% more Mental Dmg. When she casts Thunder To Thee! with boosted stats or a Positive Status, she deals up to 100% more Mental Dmg. These Incantations demonstrate the importance of keeping Charlie buffed and at a certain Hp level.

Disney has addressed the criticism of its princess movies seven times by creating films where the focus is not solely on finding romantic love. These movies, such as Pocahontas, Mulan, and Brave, have been successful at the box office and have proven that princess stories do not need to revolve around romantic relationships. The debate over whether Disney has a "princess problem" depends on individual perspectives and what each viewer values in a princess character's story.
While Disney’s Princess movies are some of the studio’s most popular and profitable productions, they have been met with a lot of controversy over the years, but the biggest complaint about them has actually already been fixed seven times. Walt Disney Productions’ very first feature animated movie was also the studio’s first Princess movie: Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, released in 1937. Once Upon A Time covered fairytales from different categories, intertwining characters in unexpected ways. Emma Swan, the main character, has complex family ties that involve Snow White, Prince Charming, and a son she gave up for adoption. The show introduced new villains each season, often tying them into the family through creative and complicated means.
Once Upon A Time ran on ABC from 2011 to 2018, and during that time, the family line of the main characters expanded vastly and grew very complicated. The show covered fairytales from all different categories. It took from old tales like Cinderella and Snow White, but it also recreated stories from some of the most recent Disney animated movies, such as Frozen and Brave. Spanning all of these characters and putting them into one universe allowed them to grow intertwined in unexpected ways.

While Chris Evans was the lead in the Captain America franchise for almost a decade, the time has come for a new hero to tack on the mantle. Captain America: Brave New World will be part of Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Phase 5 and will see Sam Wilson, previously known as The Falcon, continue his journey as Captain America after the hit Disney+ series, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.
This will be the first time the MCU has handed over one titular franchise to a new hero, so expectations are high and everyone is watching to see if Marvel can pull it off. The pressure is even higher after some disappointing box office returns on some recent MCU entries. Are audiences tired of the MCU or can they rally audience excitement once more? There have been some really exciting updates regarding the fourth Captain America movie since it was announced...

Sonetto is a F2P Mineral Arcanist whose best builds in Reverse 1999 support her fabulous and diverse range of skills. Her list of tags include Dps, Control, and Support, allowing her to neatly fit into multiple team comps. When fully leveled up, her Commandment V Incantation damages a target while applying Disarm for two rounds, leaving them unable to attack. Exhortation IV, meanwhile, buffs the entire team.
While F2P characters are typically weak, Sonetto is one of the best characters in Reverse 1999 as of global launch. While she may struggle in boss battles, her Incantations make her a top-tier support character. She can prevent strong enemies from attacking while boosting her team's damage, leading to a powerful Ultimate against all enemies.
If you want to get more Portrays for Sonetto, simply continue through the main story. Sonetto and all of her resources appear as rewards for story completion.

A Knight is a bodiless character in Reverse 1999, seen only as a worn cloak, a pair of gauntlets, and a shiny, bloody sword. He is a Spirit Arcanist with a focus on Reality damage. His kit focuses on decimating enemies and building Moxie quickly to trigger his Ultimate, After Ad 778.
The main goal with A Knight's play style is to get enough moxie and weaken the enemies enough to where After Ad 778 can kill them and give the team Rousing Morale, which boosts their next Attack Dmg by 50%. If his other Incantations, Justice and Glory, are fully leveled up, A Knight can get his Ultimate ready after using both Incantations once, wiping out the field in a single round.
A Knight is a high-tier 6-Star character who will rarely get extra Afflatus damage from enemies due to his rare Spirit Afflatus.

When Pixar's Brave premiered in 2012, it was a groundbreaking production for the company both on a technical front and from a narrative perspective. Merida (Kelly Macdonald) was the first female protagonist leading a Pixar film and was lauded for her bold personality and unabashed independence, making her stand out as one of the most self-sufficient and feminist princesses in a major animated film. From a production standpoint, Pixar also took courageous leaps in innovation when creating the film by retiring their old in-house animation system (Menv) and shifting to a new proprietary animation software known as Presto. Brave was also the first Pixar film to use Dolby/Atmos Audio, which made the in-theater experience more immersive.

[This story contains spoilers for Loki season two, episode three, “1893.”]
When Loki executive producer Kevin R. Wright began to assemble his creative team for the hit Disney+ series’ second season, he knew that production designer Kasra Farahani was an absolute necessity.
Before crafting the series’ signature look in seasons one and two, Farahani climbed the ranks of Marvel Studios as an art director and a concept artist on various MCU projects such as Thor, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and Black Panther. He’d even done some writing and directing in between Marvel gigs, so Wright first invited him to join Eric Martin’s writers’ room as a staff writer. That additional role on the show eventually led to a third assignment as director of season two’s third episode, “1893,” which allowed Farahani to design the 1893 World’s Fair in Chicago and introduce this season’s highly anticipated Kang variant, Victor Timely (Jonathan Majors...

Unfortunately, some people tend to look down on mecha anime. With so many of them built around moving as much merchandise as possible, it's easy to feel like mecha anime doesn't have much to offer someone looking for a strong narrative and good writing.
The mecha genre didn't become popular because it was good at creating cool toys, though. For decades, the franchise has generated some of the best anime ever. These series either avoided all the obvious tropes mecha anime is known for, or executed them in clever ways, and with such perfection the show is better for it. These mecha series are so good they can win over people who don't even like giant robots.

The Batman -- Part II is one of the most anticipated films in DC's upcoming line-up and was being developed by Matt Reeves and Mattson Tomlin until the writer's strike put a pin on it. A spin-off series centered on The Penguin was in the middle of filming before the strikes shut down production on that project as well. Both will occur outside the new Dcu and fall under the Elseworlds banner. Not many story details are out there about The Batman -- Part II yet, but some early reports claim Clayface will play a role in the sequel.

Princess Merida in Pixar's Brave shattered Disney's long-established princess stereotypes, being fiercely independent and challenging gender norms. Brave's success led to a shift in both Pixar and Disney's output, with more films centered on the experiences of young women and a focus on multi-faceted, diverse female characters. Disney princesses are no longer defined solely by their love stories, but instead focus on personal growth, achieving ambitions, and the importance of self-love, familial bonds, and friendship.
Disney's long-established princess stereotypes were destroyed by the heroine of one underrated Pixar film that changed the course of both Pixar and Disney's output forever. Jafar from Once Upon A Time In Wonderland was recast in season 6 of Once Upon A Time, causing his character arc to be lost in a confusing transfer. Oded Fehr played the role of Jafar in Once Upon A Time season 6, but the declining show and major actor exits prevented the character's development. Naveen Andrews, the original Jafar actor, did not return to the role after Once Upon A Time In Wonderland and instead found success in the critically acclaimed series Sense8.
Once Upon A Time recast the villain Jafar with Oded Fehr in season 6 of the ABC series, despite the character originally being performed by Naveen Andrews in the spinoff, Once Upon A Time In Wonderland. The Once Upon A Time franchise became popular by developing intricate backstories for classic fairytale characters and bringing their reimagined, live-action stories to small screens. As Disney has long since acquired the ABC network,...

Brave 2 is unlikely to happen due to Pixar's lack of interest in sequels and the absence of a compelling new direction for the franchise. The self-contained story of Brave, with its focus on mother-daughter relationships, would be difficult to expand upon without ruining the original film's impact. Disney's shift towards princess stories that prioritize themes of self-empowerment and non-romantic love further diminishes the chances of Brave 2, especially considering the mixed success of some of these films.
While Brave might be a well-liked Pixar hit, Brave 2 is unlikely to happen any time soon. 2012’s Brave was a huge financial success for Pixar upon release in 2012. Brave earned over $540 million at the box office and garnered superb reviews, with critics calling the surreal body-swap comedy a successful update on the traditional Disney princess narrative. However, the decade since Brave’s release saw Disney release numerous princess movies that were even more successful,...

Pixar movies are often complete stories that don't require sequels, but audiences still crave them due to the detailed and fun worlds created. Several Pixar movies, such as A Bug's Life, Ratatouille, Wall-e, and Up, have not received sequels, either because they were overshadowed by other films or because their stories were self-contained. While some movies like Brave and The Good Dinosaur have sequel potential, it's uncertain if they will actually receive follow-ups due to factors like box office performance or the studio's philosophy on creating sequels.
Pixar is one of the greatest and most consistent animation studios, but some of the studio's best movies surprisingly have no sequels. Pixar has made a name for itself when it comes to telling engaging stories that adults can relate to just as much as children do. The only other animated studio that comes close to Pixar's layered, emotional, and heartfelt storytelling is Studio Ghibli.

Pedro Jimeno's reputation as a villain isn't changing, even as he tries to succeed as a realtor. His image was tarnished when he left Chantel Everett, and he's struggling to redeem himself. Despite his efforts to present himself as a good person, Pedro's past actions, which seem coldblooded, continue to overshadow his real estate accomplishments.
The Family Chantel star Pedro Jimeno became public enemy number one when he left Chantel Everett, and his attempts to excel as a realtor aren't changing his villain image. His marriage to Chantel lasted for six years, and during that time, he wasn't really seen as the bad guy. However, walking out on Chantel changed everything. He was trashed online and still is. Perhaps he'll never redeem himself. He pastes on a "game show host" smile as he shows off properties, but his shtick baits his followers. Like sharks, his haters come for him when he posts,...

Warning! This post contains Spoilers for DC's Blue Beetle.
The Dceu has a limited track record of successfully assembling crossover superhero teams like the Justice League, but the Dcu can fix that with the Teen Titans. Sasha Calle's Supergirl and Xolo Maridueña's Blue Beetle provide opportunities to establish the Teen Titans as a Dcu superhero team. Supergirl brings her immense power, while Blue Beetle is eager to prove himself as a hero. Another potential Teen Titans member could be The Brave and the Bold's Damian Wayne, who has led his own team in the comics. This would allow Dick Grayson, commonly associated with the Teen Titans, to star in his own Dcu stories as Nightwing.
There are already three DC superheroes who can assemble a Dcu superhero team that could replace the Justice League. Despite its large number of characters, the Dceu barely managed to assemble the...
