The changing of the season vary by location. In Kenya there are two rainy seasons. One is about a month long and happens around November. The other is about six weeks long and takes place in March and April. From January through early March things can become very dry but the span from June through October things are far worse and place the greatest strain on wildlife. The reason for the two rains is because of the annual north / south circuit of an enormous mass of damp air that swings from the southern part of the Indian Ocean up to Asia and back again. The long rains happen on the trip north and the short rains happen on the trip south. The duration of the long dry season this mass of damp air swings south towards Antarctica. An interesting aspect of the rains there is that it will rain from the evening until around 9:00 a.m. and by 10:00 there is sunshine. Unlike the jungles of Asia, at least three quarters of each rainy season in East Africa enjoys sunshine each day.
Near the start and several times later a lion is shown making a repeated groan-like roar. This is most commonly heard early in the morning and about an hour after sunset. It can be heard from several miles away and often the pride will roar with the same rhythm simultaneously.
