A bizarre half hour of children's programming.
TOMNEL27 January 2009
Alvin and the Chipmunks are a harmless trio of animated rodents, and all of their shows were harmless, but this episode of "Alvin and the Chipmunks at the Movies" is just bizarre. Like many episodes of the "Movies" episodes of chipmunks, all this is, is a silly spoof toned down version of the movie this is based off of, which in this case in Robocop.

Alvin is a good cop, but unfortunately he has gotten in an accident. Theodore, in the role of the experimental doctor, revives Alvin by mixing his body with a robot's. Alvin is now an even better cop, but he and his female partner must stop the new super villain, played by Simon. Simon, with his pet pig and giant gas shooting machine may take over the town if Alvin can't stop him.

This episode is extremely stupid. As with all the episodes, the animation is very lack luster. There's continuity errors all over the place, and when the animators don't want to, they'll just omit little pieces of animation. The plot, which is just slightly off of Robocop's, is fine, simply because it's slightly off of Robocop's. The writing is bad! Corny lines, after corny lines.

Many questions arise while watching this. The villain goes around personally robbing each store, and no cop ever stops him. His machine shoots gasoline, but how much can it possibly hold before it finally runs out? Why does the town only rely on Alvin and Samantha, and never on any of the dozens of other police officers? Why did Theodore make Alvin into an android, considering Alvin still alive and even awake when he started, which was just weird. Does a children's cartoon need to be questioned this much? Probably not, but it points out how little attention anyone puts into making this.

This episode of Alvin and the Chipmunks is fun to watch, but it's a bit too dumb to be watched with any attentiveness. You may find yourself laughing over the stupidity.
