Vitaphone Production Reel #1127.
John R. McCrory would beat his staff if they weren't on time during production.
Buster Bear had one lone showing in Canada in 1931 before being re-cut and released on Irwin Saftey Film canisters for toy projection reels. This makes Buster Bear one of the first Vitaphone cartoons to be released on home video. Toy projection reels featuring Buster were produced through the 1930s and into the 40s and 50s.
One of the pig twins greatly resembles future Looney Tunes star Piggy, who like Bosko was also created by Rudolph Ising. (Hugh Harman co-created Bosko with Ising.)
Buster Bear was almost a Looney Tunes release, but due a deal not working out between Leon Schlesinger and John Robert "Scarfoot" McCrory, the film instead was briefly released as a Vitaphone short in January of 1930 and Bosko would take the role of first Looney Tunes star that following April with Sinkin' In The Bathtub.
