Roni suggests that they ease up and see where their relationship goes, and Vic readily agrees. Something attacks, and both of their bionics switch to lethal engagement mode. As Roni says that she should do things like fight monsters together more often...
Waking up from his nightmare, Vic discovers that Cliff has lifted up his couch that he's sleeping on, looking for a video tape. Cliff explains that the tape has a recording of Niles confessing to what he put Cliff through, and they're interrupted by two sex ghosts manifesting on the ceiling.
Niles is interviewing Jane and says that it's good to be there with her, like old times. Jane tells him that it can never be like old times, and says that the stuff Josh gave her is gone. She says that she could see it running out and explains that she's the only who can be Primary and she screwed up. Jane explains that he other personas are angry at her, and it's about Kay, not here. Niles suggests that they draw up a new map of the Underground and figure out each personas' wants and needs.
Baby Doll takes over and breaks into tears, accusing Niles of being a liar. He says that he'd never want to hurt her, but admits that he's bad and selfish. Niles asks for a chance to be better, and Baby Doll runs over and jumps into his lap, crying. She says that everything in her body hurts, and Niles tries to comfort her. He then takes her to Dorothy in Dorothy's room, and introduces her to his daughter. They bond over their pigtails, and Baby Doll admires the décor. Dorothy shows Baby Doll her dolls while Niles watches.
Rita goes to a home garden center and finds Micki Harris, an elderly woman who manages there. The ex-actress has read a newspaper article that the community theater is holding auditions and Micki is the writer/director. Micki says that the newspaper is old the auditions were the previous day, and Rita says that she won't waste Micki's time, and Micki sits down and tells Rita to audition on the spot. Rita is taken aback at doing it in Aisle three, but steps up on a pallet and does her rehearsed monologue.
As Rita performs, she remembers seeing her mother with the producer, having sex. Rita breaks down and Micki gets called away, and she tells Rita that they're good and doesn't need to hear anymore.
Cliff continues looking for the tape and finds Niles sketches of a new body for him. Niles comes in and says that he's not sure what upgrades he's going to implement yet, and the sketches are just brainstorms. He asks Cliff how he feels about getting more human aspects of his body, and explains that he wants to give Cliff a sense of touch, and Cliff wonders if it's a trick. Niles assures him that it isn't, but warns that it could take years of work.
Rita finds Larry sitting by himself in the lunge, contemplating a phone. She asks him what he's doing, and Larry explains that he just made a date to see his son, Paul, and they're going to kill out his dead son's house. Larry figures that Paul is trying to move on, and the least Larry can do is help him. Rita makes herself a drink and Larry realizes that she auditioned. She says that she doesn't know if she'd call herself an actress, and Larry tells her to make the drink to go.
As Cliff walks down the hallway, Dorothy and Baby Doll run out and play around him. Dorothy says that the two of them are close friends now, and run off together. Vic joins Cliff and joins him, and the two of them walk off together.
Dorothy and Baby Doll go outside and play, and Dorothy finally says that she has to sit down because she's tired. Baby Doll wants to continue playing and tries to start a new game. Candlemaker says in Dorothy's head that it's an infant game for infant girls, and as Dorothy tells him that she's not a grown-up, Baby Doll leads Dorothy off into a new game.
Niles is inside watching them from a window.
Baby Doll spins Dorothy to the ground, and Candlemaker tells Dorothy that he feels her vexation. He says that she must ripen, and Dorothy tells him to stop. Baby Doll asks who she's talking to, and Dorothy tells her that it's one of her imaginary friends. Baby Doll asks if she can meet Dorothy's friends, and Dorothy agrees and tells Baby Doll that she has to be polite. Once Baby Doll promises not to get scared, Dorothy agrees and says that her friend isn't scary but he's big and smell like a wet dog. Baby Doll giggles and promises, and Dorothy says that he was his mother's friend for a long time, and he followed Dorothy and it was just the two of them for a long time.
The Beast--Manny-- appears and Baby Doll stares at him in awe. She reaches out and touches Manny on the nose, and he roars and disappears. Baby Doll asks Dorothy to bring Manny back, and Dorothy angrily says that she told Baby Doll to be polite and storms off.
Vic is in the dining room watching Roni through cameras. Cliff comes in and asks him if he can feel stuff, and Vic says that he has tactile sensors and his father put them in during Vic's first surgery. When Cliff explains about Niles wanting to rebuild his sense of touch, Vic congratulates him and figures Niles will always find a way. Cliff says that he can't remember what touch is like.
Larry and Rita take a taxi to Paul's house in Greensboro, Indiana. Paul's grandson Toby is playing in the yard with a toy rocket, and Paul and his son Dex come out and Paul introduces Toby to his father, Dex's grandfather. Dex hesitantly shakes Larry's hand, and Larry introduces Rita. Larry asks where they should start, and Paul awkwardly hugs him. Surprised, Larry hugs his son back.
In the Underground, Hammerhead approaches Jane and says that it's quiet without Baby Doll there. Jane says that Baby Doll is out running and singing like she's always wanted. She tells Hammerhead that it's Baby Doll's job to have fun making friends, and if Kay didn't need that, Baby Doll wouldn't exist. Hammerhead warns that Niles will choose Dorothy over them, and asks if Baby Doll can handle that. The persona walks off, while Flaming Katy watches them.
Baby Doll runs into Dorothy's room looking for her new friend, but doesn't find her there. Niles comes in and says that Dorothy was so tired she fell asleep in his room, and invites Baby Doll to take a nap as well. Baby Doll jumps on him and says that she isn't tired and wants to play. When Niles demurs, Baby Doll goes out and Niles hopes that everyone is being polite with the friends they've made and he'd be disappointed if someone decided to be a sour little group. Niles leaves, and Dorothy, who was under her bed, considers what her father told her knowing she was there.
In Detroit, Vic and Cliff go walking with Vic's father, Silas, and explain that they want him to install cybernetic technology in Cliff. Cliff suggests that Silas could pull it off and shove his success in Niles' face, and insists that Silas could connect his cutting-edge tech with Niles' older technology. Silas refuses and says that what Niles did to Cliff was criminal, and he'd be an accessory if he did anything to Cliff. With that, he walks off.
Larry helps pack his son Gary's things, approaches Toby, and finds him playing with a robot. When Larry says that he knows someone like that, Toby asks if his condition hurts. Larry tells him that sometimes it does but not at the moment. Paul comes over and sends Toby to get his father to start up the grill. Larry congratulates Paul on his "perfect" family, and Paul demurs and tells Larry what to get rid of. The ex-pilot finds a Russian doll among Gary's things, and explains that it belonged to his mother--Larry's wife--because she lived there for a while. Paul explains that Cheryl got Gary into his conspiracy theories about Larry's disappearance, and Paul abruptly says that Larry wasn't there and walks off.
Rita is on the porch drinking from a flask, and Larry joins her. He shows her the Russian doll and says that it belongs to Cheryl, and wonders if it was a good idea to come there. Rita says that it is, and says that it's a good opportunity for them to say what they have to say to each other. Paul and his family are playing out on the yard, and Rita hugs Larry and says that she's proud of him.
Cliff and Vic sit in Vic's car, and Vic admits that Silas and Niles have history. Vic then explains that he used to patrol the area they're parked in, and Cliff figures the best way to manage his anger is to blow it all over some bad guys. He beats out a TV theme on the dashboard and suggests they be Steele & Stone, and figures Vic is thinking about fighting crime. Vic insists that he isn't and points out that Roni's place is across the street and they're seeing each other. He explains that he can't stop thinking about Roni, and Cliff asks what the plan is. Vic has brought sandwiches and explains that he got them as a gesture.
Cliff says that it's not smooth and tosses the sandwiches out the window, and says that he used to be good at getting the women to forgive him. He explains a plan for Vic to tell Roni that he's stupid and screwed up, and he's sorry. Vic leaves without fist-bumping Cliff, goes to Roni's apartment door, knocks, and when she opens the door Vic follows Cliff's advice. Roni says that it's okay and she didn't expect him to stick around, and Vic realizes that it was a test after she sent him the files. He asks if it means anything that he came back, and Roni kisses him and pulls him into her apartment.
Jane is making a "kitchen sink" sandwich and Niles finds her in the kitchen. She finally says that he can slice the bread, and Niles does so. Dorothy comes in and Niles asks if she's hungry, and says that kitchen sink sandwiches are Jane's favorite. Jane glares at them as they laugh together.
Cliff waits in Vic's car and imagines his 'Steele & Stone' TV show. He spots two teenagers lifting a car and goes over. Cliff orders them away and punches one of them into the windshield of a nearby car. The other thief cowers when Cliff prepares to hit him, and Cliff's hand locks up. The thief gets into the stolen car, and the arm the car door shut, severing the thief's finger. Cliff apologizes for his arm and the thief runs off. Seeing the severed finger on the hood of the car, Cliff pockets it.
As Dex grills hot dogs for Toby, Rita complains that Micki should have let her start her monologue over. Rita goes on about how she wanted to prove to her mother that she could land a role on her own, and tells Dex that her mother died a long time ago but the things she did still haunt Rita. Dex excuses himself to get ketchup, and Rita tells Toby that Dex seems good but the boy should never let Dex step on his spirit
Rita gets a call on her cellphone from Micki, and after talking to her tells Toby that several of Micki's cast have come down with mono so she's giving Rita a chance to perform in her community play. Rita hugs Toby in joy and yells at her mother that she did it without her.
After sex, Vic and Roni lay in bed and Roni tells Vic that it's okay if he wants to go. She says that the files were a warning, but Vic says that just because she used to be a bad person doesn't mean she still is. Roni tells him that there's only a few ways to get out of the neighborhood, and one of them is with the military. She talks about her scars and how she got them when an IED exploded, and she worked mission for Quorum. Quorum gave her enhancements, and when she screwed up they took them away. Roni blames herself for a lot of it, and admits that power is a drug. Vic says that someone once told him not to judge them by the worse they've done, and Roni says that's assuming the worst is behind them. He assures Roni that she's not a bad person, and Roni tells Vic that she doesn't want to be and hugs him.
Larry goes to Gary's workshop garage where Paul is, asks if he can help, and Paul tells him there's a box for him with his things from his base locker. The jet that Gary built for Larry is among the things, and Paul says that Gary never cried so hard then about Larry hated it. Then Gary was thrilled when he saw that Larry kept it anyway, and Larry explains that he was an asshole for not seeing that Gary did it perfectly.
Finding a red bandanna belonging to John, his ground crew chief and his lover, Larry puts the cloth to his chest and tells Paul that he is gay. He wishes he could have admitted it to Cheryl, even though she knew. Larry says that it was selfish and he was scared, and Paul thanks him for telling him and says that Cheryl never mentioned it. Paul then tells Larry that when they told them Larry died of his injuries, there were days when Cheryl laid on the floor crying. She tried to move on and one man, Wayne, told her that Larry wasn't dead and it was a big government cover-up. Paul followed in Larry's footsteps to pay tribute to him, and he talks about how he just survived and felt a sense of peace when Gary killed himself. Then Larry showed up.
Paul reveals that he's carrying a pistol and says that he didn't know he was still carrying so much anger.
Government SUVs pull up to the house, and Rita sees them. She yells to Larry as Paul tells his father that no one survives Larry. Larry and Paul come out, and agents get out with energy guns and tell Larry to stand down. Paul tells Larry that he did some digging with the Department of Defense after Larry showed up, and he called them in and is sending Larry back where he belongs.
Larry says that he's not going anywhere and releases the Spirit. It flies through the agents, stunning them, and Toby runs out as the other agents open fire. Rita instinctively shields Toby from the bullets with her body, but Dex is shot in the gut. Paul sees his wounded son and runs over, and he demands to know what Larry has done. Larry staggers over and Paul says that he's a curse on the family, and Rita tells Larry that they have to go. As the Spirit flies down and picks up Larry, Larry tells Paul that he's sorry.
At the manor, Dorothy goes to her room and finds Baby Doll sitting on her bed. Dorothy says that she doesn't feel like playing, and Baby Doll tells Dorothy that Niles is a bad man who hurt everyone in the manor. Dorothy angrily says that it's not true, and Baby Doll says that Niles is evil. Dorothy tells Baby Doll that she's hurt, and sometimes being hurt makes people say bad things that aren't true. Baby Doll insists that she's not lying, and Dorothy suggests that they play a game. She touches Baby Doll in a game of tag and runs off, and Baby Doll goes after her.
Niles is in his study and hears the two girls running.
