As the title suggests, it and the whole premise of the story takes it cue from the movie "The Big Chill," where former high school friends gather for the funeral of a classmate. The ghost shares a dark secret with two of them; so dark, the guilt followed him through life and onto his death, the result of an accidental OD. It is, of course, Melinda's job to ferret out all the information, so that the ghost achieves peace and the living resolution.
This is the second of five free-standing episodes which begin Season 4. Those that follow carry out an on-going narrative from Jim's death to his "resurrection." It should be noted that John Gray is no longer the executive producer of the show and, even though he is still credited as series creator, it's clear his mark is nowhere to be found. The presence of close-ended episodes disappears, and the final 2 seasons present continued story line with individual ghosts simply appearing against it. Also, the stories become more far-fetched, even for a series about ghosts. It is pretty much at this point the GW begins to lose viewership and limps through its final season 5.
