Exceptional storyline
cbmd-3735210 December 2023
The writers outdid themselves with this episode. Repeated unexpected complications to the case, ever increasing tension and uncertainty. There is enough material here to turn this into a movie. The unusual denouement was possible only because of the personal introspection and growth of Don Eppes in previous episodes. The secondary theme with Alan and Fleihart was very poor, as if the writers used up all their smarts on the main story. No one else seems to have noted a special cast member Chris Bruno, brother of regular Dylan Bruno. They were in at least four other shows together. They are the sons of actor Scott Bruno.

Good Episode/Tired of Judd Hirsch's Role

This was an entertaining hostage episode where a tour bus in LA is taken over. What transpires is fascinating to watch with many twists and turns. We find out some intriguing things about the bad guys as time goes by. What really bothered me is the silly bickering between Allan and Larry. During an incredibly serious moment as Charlie tries to meet a deadline that could prevent deaths, Allan and Larry come barging in, wanting to have their petty squabble dealt with. Since Allan became a student, I've grown tired of his role.

Good except for one thing...

Warning: Spoilers
This would have been a great episode except for a very stupid subplot. Imagine the feds trying to rescue the people on this bus, the analyst/math whiz is frantically trying to hack their system, and literally seconds count. Then his girlfriend keeps butting in to discuss some stupid think tank and a personal squabble between two members. Then when he says he's busy she has the audacity to say he needs to man up and step in to the squabble. Are you kidding me? And his father just waltzes into the FBI headquarters where the dude is trying to hack the bus system, and is all like "Hey what's going on?" He tells him he's busy but his dad goes right ahead and starts yacking about something completely irrelevant. How is he even allowed in there? And at such a crucial time? This stupidity of this show is really starting to pull down the plots, which are very good. The action is what's best about this show. The rest is poorly written fluff.

Pretty good episode.

This is a pretty good episode. Interesting idea. The story and action move along well. Fisher Stevens plays a decent bad guy. It keeps you guessing. The only minus? Michael Beach. IMO he always over-acts in every role. Too bad.
