The Sleep of Babies (#1.12)

Absolutely heartbreaking. This is how this episode felt for me especially at the end. I knew Donna will be dead right when her and Opie switched their cars. But watching it all happening was still very intense. Especially as Clay also received information from police by that time that Opie is not a rat and was trying to stop. I feel horrible for Opie's character. He already lost so much. And now even a woman he loved even though he was innocent. I wonder if this will change his attitude. Next episode may have a few confrontations.

I also find the police dynamics getting more interesting. The character played by Taylor Sheridan is very interesting.

Wrenching and amazing episode.

Okay. So I have previously posted a series review wherein I said I was throwing in the towel. But something kept tugging me along all the same. Well, this episode was a rewarding payoff. To me, in the past couple of episodes, the show has found its legs. I'm going to continue on, and I highly recommend this episode. And yes. I'm going to go revise that review. :)

Man what an episode. So emotional. So well acted. Clay and Tig proceed their plan to kill Ope. After the welcome party for Abel, Ope and Donna leave but they switch cars and Tig kills Donna. From the reaction of Opie and the reactions of Tig and Clay when they knew they fucked up was so well acted. The last episode will be an interesting one.

Best performance: Kim Coates

Poor Donna. I hate Tigs, Clay & Gemma.

Warning: Spoilers
I feel so heartbroken for Opie & I hope Clay, Tigs & the FBI lady gets what is coming to them. I am going to miss Opie's & Donna's relationship because they were the only sane couple this season.

I knew Laroy would betray Clay & I am glad he did too. Clay & Tigs had no right to do anything behind the club's back.

Gemma really needs to stop meddling in people's business. She needs to leave Tara and Jax alone so that they can figure out what they need to do. It is so strange, but I cannot find it in me to hate Wendy even though I want Tara with Jax. Wendy better stay sober because I am rooting for her. In reality, Jax is not shitx & both girls should find someone better.

I wish I could give this a 10

Note that I have not yet finished the series so depending on how certain story lines play out I may actually get to put this at 10 stars but for me this is 2 nitpicks short of the perfect SOA episode. Thrilling action, brilliant suspense, a gut wrenching twist in the form of Donna's death at the hands of Tig. What this episode gets right, it gets very right. My 2 nitpicks though are that Ajax and Wendy should not have gotten back together, from a critical perspective. Jax's relationship with Tara didn't need that artificial tension and I don't buy that Gemma would hate Tara more than Wendy. I think their relationship struggle should stay between the 3 of them without outsiders getting directly involved as Jax's involvement in SAMCRO will create enough natural conflict for the two. This nitpick is more minor but I think they just missed the mark with Hale. He was a pretty average character to begin and something about his development in this episode just felt off to me; it was a tiny bit rushed. I think if we got one interaction of Hale and Opie where Opie was kind to Hale before this episode Hale defending Opie would make more sense. As it is I just barely don't buy that he would have broken his duty as an officer to try and save Opie. That's enough griping though, onto the beautiful stuff. This episode is absolutely tragic, everything that could go wrong did go wrong. In one fell swoop SAMCRO has ruined their relationship with the 9ers and the Mayans, betrayed a member who was innocent, accidentally killed that innocent member's even more innocent wife, destroyed Tig's morale and absolutely all of it is Clay's fault because he didn't clue Jax in. Absolutely brilliant stuff.
