Awesome, as expected

Warning: Spoilers
Season 4 is great, but only 7 episodes? We want more please!

Ozark has some great villains and Javi is the latest. A handsome charmer with a very evil side. I love it.

The best part of episode 7? I won't ever have to see Darlene and Wyatt kiss again! Gross!

Incredible

Just rewatched the whole season and this finale hit a whole lot harder the second time. That last 15 minutes IS SO GOOD. The mixture of the score and julia garner's phenomenal performance meshed so perfect to create some of the best scenes in the whole show.

Same as always left with a major cliffhanger!!

Can not wait for the other 7 episodes need to know what happens now! Haha

Julia Garner's performance stole the show once again, I hope she gets credited for it at the next awards.

This first half season has been the best sustained run of episodes I have ever seen.

This one is the crowning glory complete with cross/double-cross, violence and rage. An awesome complex, multi-layered story with a fabulous cast and well thought through and coherent writing. The always fabulous Julia Garner outshines herself, in this single episode she has jumped from very good to great with all-round range well beyond her usual rage-filled pocket-rocket.

If the back-seven are anywhere close to this, Ozark will become my all-time favourite TV series.

Absolutely breathtaking

Sanctified has to be one of the best pieces of TV I've seen in a few years, from start to finish, it is gut punching thrilling. It is masterfully directed by Robin Wright, and written to perfection. It had so many twists and turns, I was shocked at the direction it took. I knew going into this final season, that some stuff was about to go down, but even with that, I was still surprised. This new villian is intimidating as hell. I've read some of these reviews so far, and I'm thinking these guys don't understand intense entertainment.

Season 4 A so far, has been really good, if they keep this up through season 4 B, we could have a TV show that can go toe to toe with Breaking Bad.

Spectacular except one thing...
jonathanmdummer23 January 2022
As you'll see from the other reviews, this episode beats the rest, and ends with enough resolution to feel satisfied, but (more than) enough tension to have you begging for the rest of the season.

My only gripe is the "flash foward" at the very beginning of season 1. I know this story telling device is used in a lot of other shows/movies but it really ruins some of the suspense for scenes where you see the same characters in peril, since you know they are going to survive for now.

Other than that, storytelling, acting, and directing were all A+.

Spectacular Julia Garner
deaeight3 February 2022
Wow the ensemble is excellent as always but man, Julia Garner is on fire! As good a performance as I've seen from a female actor since Edie Falco in the Sopranos. After burners are on maximum burn. She is absolutely brilliant. Worth watching Part 1 just for her, but this is well rounded show and, as stated, a superb ensemble. One of the best Netflix shows ever and a strong contender for the Number 1 slot. Standing ovation for all involved. Must also mention, Jason Bateman & Laura Linney also continue to dazzle.

Phenomenal TV
tristan_1923 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This episode is a masterclass in every aspect of storytelling. From creating suspense to providing major twists that make sense, Sanctified manages to push Ozark from an already great show to one of the best ever.

Maya's power play and betrayal and the pure shock you experience when Omar Navarro gets caught is sensational. Once again, Marty and Wendy prove to be some of the best characters on TV, while working towards an understanding with the FBI. Javier is psychotic and towards the middle of the episode, there is a major shock when Marty reaches Jim's house. It's a relentless experience to witness, right up until the last shot of the episode.

Of course, you can't forget the phenomenal climax. A scene that will be remembered forever and that'll haunt Ruth til the day she dies. Wyatt and Darlene get killed in a brutal fashion, and everybody if left wondering where the heck this'll go next, their jaws on the floor.

I have the feeling Maya's betrayal isn't over, and that she'll probably work with Mel in the future to take down the Byrdes, or to make some kind of deal (let's remember the first scene of the season, what was happening ?)

Overall, this episode alone is enough to call this half season a major success. Hope Ruth gets her revenge... Poor Wyatt. Javi is insane. As for Jonah and Charlotte, I don't want anything to happen to them. They've come so far... Oh boy. They couldn't bring the next half season soon enough.

BEST PERFORMANCE BY A FEMALE ACTOR EVER !!!
Yash_Biyani24 January 2022
Julia Garner who plays the character of Ruth Langmore outdid herself. I never write reviews for anything that I have seen till now. But her performance, especially in this episode just gave me chills.

SHE DESERVES AN EMMY AWARD FOR THIS !!!

The writer, the director and all the other technicians did their part in executing this show brilliantly. But Julia put life into it.

This episode should be shown in film schools as an example of brilliant acting.

There's a point in which I forgot that this is a show.

JULIA GARNER, take a bow !!

If you thought this show wouldn't get any more tense, think again. If you think Season 3 finale was insane, think again. Ozark is one of the rare shows that consistently gets your heart pounding with it's nerve-wrecking tension. If Part 2 continues this, we are in for one of the best series finales.

Underwhelming writing
gernotm11 April 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I do not know if I watched some different season than the reviewers watched here. I totally disagree with all the positive comments. I've watched Ozark with my wife and we liked to pause scenes, analyse what's going to happen, talk about the character development and plot etc.

We agree that season 4 has been the weakest season so far. The whole season gives the impression that the writers only had a long-term plan for seasons 1-3 and made up the rest of the season on the fly ("oops, we didn't know our series would get so popular, let's pump out some more episodes").

For starters, here we have Wyatt, who was portrayed as a somewhat sophisticated young man reading books and quoting clever people, who even had some aspirations of going to college. In season 4 he became the "lady in distress", a totally helpless, dumb character who rightfully gets killed in the last episode. Also there was zero explanation of how suddenly he falls in love in Darlene, their relationship went from 0-100 (undying love) in literally one ep. Oh, if it only were that easy in real life.

Second, we have Frank Cosgrove Junior, whose dad got killed in the last ep. Now he, as the next leader of the KC mob, takes Ruth's money and doesn't kill Darlene because Ruth asks him not to? Not killing the woman who shot his dick off and killed his dad for what, like 10000$? Wasn't the KC Mob supposed to be somewhat ...rich... and ...powerful...?

Third, the Byrdes tell Ruth about the (fake) SECRET FBI DEAL that they just made with Javi in order to shut her up? Why tell her about the deal? Like Ruth will ever get a chance to kill the leader of the second largest drug cartel in Mexico, hell yeah... (ok, if the bad writing is to believed, she will get her chance, jesus).

Warning: Spoilers
"You disappoint me, especially you Wendy"

This summed up season 3 and 4(Part 1) for me perfectly. Ozark used to be about a super smart guy who got in over his head and is solving problems as they go. Marty was ozark for the first 2 seasons. Now Wendy is ozark, and quite honestly she is as passive aggressive as a school girl who has no control over her emotions. Wendy is not smart, she messes everything up, and yet the writers feel like she's a valid story center.

In the episode where negotiations took place with the Shaw CEO and Wendy couldn't pull it off so she had Marty literally say "this is what we have and we can stop talking anytime". That was the moment the show got it right for a small second. I loved that. Marty was the kingpin again.

You guys are so focussed on trying to make a Breaking Bad(esque) show that you are putting all the attention on Jesse, when all we really want to see is Walt do his thing. Let Marty do his thing. Let him be the smartest again. Let him save his family. Make Ozark about the guy it was about when the show won awards. Because even though the ratings are high for now, a show about Wendy won't go down as ons of the best shows ever. But Marty. That could be legendary.

Brutally Bad and Poorly Edited **Spoilers**
jclawrence7829 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I love this show. Does it take liberties with reality at times? Sure, but it's a fantastic story and beautifully acted.

This episode, however, was a hot mess. The back and forth between the FBI and Omar and Javi, Maya's malleability (which was not believable all season, not just here), the FBI giving a hoot what Marty and/or Wendy have to say- it was all ridiculous.

Last episode ending with Wyatt proposing to Darlene after he'd seen her murder multiple people felt so abrupt (and by the way, having worked in Child Welfare for decades, they wouldn't have left Zeke in her care if her health was poor, and Wyatt would've needed to complete the application, training, and certification process, so that whole thing bugs me) and it seemed out of character for Wyatt to not want Ruth at his wedding.

The whole thing with Ruth getting seeds from some lady who apparently knew her mother- what was the significance of any of that?? She has a lovely box and these seeds, presumably to give as a wedding gift, but why those? Why from tat lady? And I STILL want to know what happened with those dealers who didn't want to sell Ruth the drugs. What changed their mind??

I don't know if COVID prevented them from filming scenes that would have made any of this make sense, but that episode sucked and was horribly incoherent. I really hope the second half of this season ends up being better constructed as it's too good a show to put forth such a jumbled, nonsensical last season.

Absolutely superb
FilmBrat10522 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This episode was very shocking, it was somewhat sad to see Darlene go in a sense that I was expecting her to be a bigger villain. I think Omar has a little bit of a crush on Wendy. I've always enjoyed their scenes and I think they have wonderful chemistry (both the actors and characters). As much as I wanna see Ruth kill Javi, I think she's too dangerous to the Byrde family (I love Wendy & Marty) to be left alive. Of course, Javi needs to go too. I wasn't a fan of Wyatt, but his erratic behavior makes him the primary antagonist, so lets's see how long into Part Two that actually pans out. Julia Garner's performance in the last couple of scenes were chilling and palpable. This was an incredible midseason finale and I hope they don't make us wait until November for Part Two. Also, I'm just now realizing they never revisited the car crash from episode one. I was certain it'd be featured in this episode. I'm hoping they don't end the entire series with that scene, even if they all "deserve" it by the time it rolls around. Wonderful writing, cinematography, and acting all around. Can't wait to see what's next.

Julia Garner, damn just perfect.

I likened this to breaking bad, and whilst that is a fantastic show, i'm starting to like this better. The tension and acting of the characters is this shows ultimate strength. I am drawn into their circumstances and can empathise with everyone in the show. Its just fantastic.

Cant wait for the last episodes of this show and will sorely miss the genius writing behind this. What a ride.

Absolutely breathtaking episode. Cried my lungs out. Julie Garner is a powerhouse performer throughout this entire series but she transcended into something else in this one. Am literally shaking as I write this.

She was phenomenal in this episode, as she has been throughout all of the show.

This episode was satisfying, gut wrenching, shocking and nerve racking from the begging to the end. I can't wait for part 2.

A pure non-stop ultra wow factory
Nagitokomeda21 January 2022
The wows per minute that were generated this episode are unlike any other. The drama. The ACTING. Everything kicked off to the largest plodfod extreme we have ever seen. The writers grabbed Ozark by the Rechavkl disco and just churned out the biggest beltaloada grinder of all time. The wait for the next chunk of lil scrappy heart wow earner nonfod nonfiller episodes will be brutally hard.

Masterpiece.

No need to compare this show with any other show.

It has found it's footing and audiences with superb writing and heart pounding drama.

It can create profound human reactions, the show has done it's job and it speaks to it's quality.

Hoping for the best series finale of almost any show ever if they keep this up. Thanks for the ride Bateman.

Who's the Loosest Cannon?
peterwcohen-300-94720022 February 2022
Wendy is really stepping up her game in the loosest of loose cannons contest. She is increasingly vicious and can't stop plotting to destroy everyone who crosses her. She's obsessed with winning for the sake of it, and has delusions of grandeur. I predict a hard fall for her. Kudos to Richard Thomas as her father. He knows what she's all about.

I hope Ruth gets out OK
hcasale-6830330 January 2022
I really enjoyed seasons one and two. Season three lost the intensity, with too much time being spent on Wendy's brother. I thought they jumped the shark. Having just completed the first half of season four, I'm happy to say they've gotten things back on track. I look forward to the second half of the season to see how things wrap up. Of all the characters, I hope Ruth is still standing when the smoke clears. I don't have much empathy for the rest of them.

They made a deal in an abandoned mall and they're done but then Omar got arrested and Javi snapped and beat Marty and killed the newlywed couple in their house. Ruth is after him. It's such a gut wrenching episode. I hope the second part is going to be this good.
