All the fake names that Nate reads off in the airport are of actors who have previously portrayed The Doctor in the British sci-fi series Doctor Who (1963). Nate's aliases are Peter Davison, Sylvester McCoy and Tom Baker all of whom portrayed The Doctor. Sophie's alias is Sarah Jane Baker, a reference to Sarah Jane Smith, one of The Doctor's companions (portrayed by Elisabeth Sladen). This is most likely due to the fake ID's being made by Hardison, who in an earlier episode remarks about 'torrenting' Doctor Who episodes.
The names of the baddies in this episode were taken from those involved in Watergate.
The film clip shown very briefly on the airplane was from The Librarian: Return to King Solomon's Mines (2006), which was directed by Jonathan Frakes, who also directed several episodes of Leverage, and was produced by Dean Devlin, the executive producer of Leverage. Christian Kane starred in the television show that was a continuation of this movie series, The Librarians.
Near the end, Hardison exclaims "I love it when a plan comes together." This is a nod to Hannibal Smith, who frequently used that line in The A-Team (1983).
