It's funny how one little mishap can cause a world of trouble. Make two items that look alike, but both have very different functions. This is why such items must be labeled in fairly large print so such instances do not occur. Otherwise, you may encounter what George and Elroy encounter in tonight's episode. After losing a game of rocket chess to Cogswell, Spacely swears he'll get even. This leads to unveiling the company's latest development: an Executive Instant Transporter, or EXIT. A giant capsule that can transport a person or a parcel from one location to another instantaneously. He demonstrates it on George, transporting him to the roof, to the moon, to his home, then back to the plant. With this new invention, executives can be sent to meetings in an instant, eliminating the nuisance of traffic and chauffeurs. Mr. Spacely planned to introduce this device at the sprocket convention in Las Venus, and George and Jane are invited. Spacely gives George the computer chip for safe keeping until they get to Las Venus...odd that he'd trust George with such a highly technological and very delicate piece to such a revolutionary invention... hilarity and hijinks are bound to ensue. With George and Jane going away, and Rosie gone off for a mileage check-up, who will watch the house and look after the kids? Judy, of course. She's looking for a "cost of living increase" in her allowance, so perhaps she can earn it AND show her parents how responsible she can be.. Oh boy, hilarity and hijinks will DEFINITELY ensue! Meanwhile, the smarter Jetson child is trying to come up with a new invention. He gets an idea during dinner when Astro shows blatant disobedience when told to go lie down. An instant dog trainer! No longer will one have to waste time teaching obedience to their dogs, when it can be instantly zapped into their brains. Oh boy! Well he puts it together that night and tries it out on Astro the next morning, and it works! He can perform every hammy dog trick in the book. Only problem is, the thing operates on a computer chip very similar to Spacely's EXIT machine, and wouldn't you know, George accidentally grabs the wrong chip as he, Jane and their 8 suit cases head off for Las Venus.
Once they're gone, Judy and Elroy begin making long distance calls and getting into all sorts of mischief... naw, they don't make calls, but Judy does manage to burn the ice cream and not even the newly obedient Astro will touch it. Next, she attempts to do laundry, but ends up flooding the place. She can't do anything right, as she openly admits. But maybe vacuuming the house, after draining it of course, may prove easier. All she has to do is activate the sweeper and it will do the rest. There's a malfunction and the vacuum chases Judy all over the house. Meanwhile, the much smarter Jetson child tries out his instant dog trainer on some neighborhood dogs. They go through the chamber, but don't come out. Where did they go? Similar circumstances arise in Las Venus, when Spacely demonstrates the EXIT on George, but instead of sending him away, it makes him act like a dog. He sits, he barks, he licks Jane's face, and like a true dog, can sense evil, so he chases Mr. Spacely, barking wildly, and gets him in the end. Literally. Nice shorts there, Spacely; Well, with the EXIT being a failure and Spacely a laughing stock, Jane returns home with her husband on a leash. But all is not lost. Elroy happened to have a back-up dog trainer chip. Don't they always? He sends George through the machine and he's back to normal! Not only that, but it turns out the demonstration at the convention was not such a blow-out, and everybody wanted a piece of that dog training program, so George won't be fired in this episode. But wait, what about the dogs that disappeared? Turns out they'd been on the roof this whole time. Now because the invention was Elroy's, George decides to split his new bonus with him... "What about me?" says Judy. You? What did you do? Nothing, as usual. Stupid selfish, white-haired, teeny-bopper bimbo. Oh, of course George gives her the raise she doesn't deserve, and there's even enough money left over to take Jane back to Las Venus.
This episode was good. A fun episode with a good story and a classic "switcheroo" mishap. I was right. Hilarity and hijinks did ensue. I only wish they would have had more of the attention back home with the kids and perhaps Judy could manage in spite of it all. You know, build on her character. But no, they opted to make her look incompetent and focus more on Spacely and Cogswell. Oh well, it was still a fun episode and I remember watching it often. So if you want classic, hilarious Jetson hijinks, check this one out! It's a treat!
