Vice TV just signed a deal for its first-ever professional wrestling event: “Mlw Fightland,” TheWrap has learned exclusively. Of course, this is not Vice’s first-ever pro-wrestling show — that would be “Dark Side of the Ring,” which is also the cable channel’s highest-rated series ever.
“Fightland” takes place Saturday, Oct. 2 at the 2300 Arena in Philly. It’ll air as a one-hour television special the following Thursday, Oct. 7, at 10 p.m. Et on Vice. That means the special gets “Dark Side of the Ring” as its lead-in.
Could do worse.
“’Mlw Fightland’ on Vice TV blows up the tired, old wrestling format. Everyone has played it safe in presenting wrestling the same way for 25 years,” Court Bauer, CEO and founder of Major League Wrestling, told TheWrap. “‘Mlw Fightland’ offers viewers a transparent, unfiltered all access look into the smoke-filled arenas of wrestling. According to Roger Waters, Pink Floyd’s long-awaited Animals box set is finally coming out in the not-too-distant-future. The last sticking point seemed to center around, of all things, liner notes. Roger Waters wanted to include an essay by British journalist Mark Blake, while David Gilmour wanted the set to come out without notes. In the end, Waters just posted Blake’s work on his website, clearing the way for the box set.
Details about the set haven’t yet been released, but it will include new stereo and 5.1 mixes.

Watch the trailer for season-premiere episode about Brian Pillman here
TheWrap is tagging itself in to debut the trailer for the two-hour “Dark Side of the Ring” Season 3 premiere episode, which centers on the life and death of Brian Pillman — but that’s not all. We can also exclusively reveal the people and storylines chronicled in the back half of the season, when the WWF Steroid Trials and The Plane Ride From Hell get the Vice TV treatment, among other pro-wrestling subjects.
But first up is Pillman, who clawed his way to infamy by playing an unpredictable and outrageous character dubbed “The Loose Cannon.” His unwavering commitment to a 24/7 performance put Pillman on a path to self-destruction that left his family in financial and emotional ruin.

Star Wars has had destiny and prophecy baked into it from the very beginning, with the Force invisibly guiding our characters towards their intended destinations. But sometimes, you have to sit back and wonder about the crazy chain of coincidences that kick off A New Hope.
The plot begins with C-3Po and R2-D2 escaping to Tatooine to find Obi-Wan Kenobi, only to be captured by Jawas. In a massive bit of luck for the future of the galaxy, they’re then sold to a young Luke Skywalker (the son of the guy that built C-3Po in the first place!) and they only buy them because their first choice of droid blows up.
If that red astromech droid hadn’t malfunctioned, Luke might never have seen the message, never found Obi-Wan, never left Tatooine and never become a Jedi and saved the galaxy. So, what would this alternate...

Before the event was recently canceled, Star Wars Celebration appeared a lock to give us our first glimpse at the upcoming second season of The Mandalorian, and with the planned October release getting ever closer, fans are desperate to catch a look at any footage at all from Mando and Baby Yoda’s latest set of adventures.
The additions of some fan favorite characters from both the live-action and animated history of Star Wars has certainly got people talking, and as the only project from the Disney era that hasn’t faced any kind of notable backlash, expectations are through the roof for the next run of Jon Favreau’s Disney Plus exclusive.

Owen Hart’s “Dark Side of the Ring” episode pinned down 626,000 total viewers, counting three days of DVR viewing, with 390,000 of that total coming from the key adults 18-49 demographic. Both are new ratings records for a Vice TV telecast, according to Nielsen.
Guess what the previous record-holder was? Yeah, the prior week’s “Dark Side of the Ring.”
By this point in the story, you’ve probably figured out that “Dark Side” is Vice’s most successful series in its relatively young history, and that Season 2 has outperformed Season 1.

Every day we get asked a variation of these questions: "Is this show canceled?" "Is that show coming back?" And as the five broadcast networks (ABC, Fox, NBC, CBS and The CW) look toward their new crop of pilots, these are valid concerns.
Some shows have already been visited by the cancellation grim reaper (we already forgot you, "Work It"); others, like "How I Met Your Mother," have been renewed; some are as good as renewed (like "Glee," for better or for worse); and then there are the rest, like "Community," that find themselves positioned on the dreaded bubble.
To help ease your frazzled, TV-loving minds, HuffPost TV has compiled a gallery featuring more than 100 shows (i.e. everything you could ever hope to find) and where they stand for next season. Shows have been divided by network, in alphabetical order, and labeled as follows:

Andie MacDowell's latest feature, As Good as Dead, is a relatively radical departure in the model-turned-actress's nearly three-decade career: As Helen, the vengeful widow of a powerful white supremacist, MacDowell literally limps into New York City on the hunt for the man who ambushed her family in the South years earlier. Burned and scarred over exactly 54 percent of her body, Helen and her grown son join a ruthless killer (a scene-stealing Frank Whaley) in tormenting Ethan (Cary Elwes), a photographer who may or may not know who attacked whom that fateful day -- and who should pay.

It’s been 23 years since The Princess Bride made its entrance into our lives, and 23 years ago we first set eyes on the glowing blonde locks of Cary Elwes. Unfortunately for Elwes, the character of Westley is one that will stick with him probably for the rest of his life. He’ll be in his fancy nursing home, unable to escape the barrage of Princess Bride quotes. Requests for his walker or daily doses of his Metamucil will be met with, “As you wish”. Perhaps most unfortunate is that every character he’ll become will always seem to fall flat in comparison.
As Good As Dead is no exception to this rule and it is perhaps some of the best proof we have that Elwes’ seemingly eccentric accent does not work in non-spoof films. It is also...

Documentary Waiting for Superman continued its solid run over the weekend, expanding to 103 locations and easily topping all other limited releases. Never Let Me Go also added a substantial number of theaters and posted gains, while the excitement over Catfish seemed die down. A bevy of movies like Stone, Nowhere Boy, and Inside Job debuted, though they played in too few theaters to have much of an impact. Waiting for Superman earned $630,863 for a respectable per-theater average of $6,125. This was less than half of what An Inconvenient Truth was grossing at the same point in its theatrical run, though it's unreasonable to expect director Davis Guggenheim's latest project to be able to generate the same level of interest as his environmentalist documentary. Through its third weekend, Superman has tallied $1.41 million. Never Let Me Go added 124 theaters to bring its total to 167 and was up 85 percent to $345,741. While this was its best weekend yet,...
