I really enjoyed the movie in its entirety. It was definitely a thriller, yet comical. It definitely had its edge of the seat moments. I thought it was creative and tastefully done. Tracy Teague's performance was fabulous. I would definitely recommend this movie to friends and family. I had no idea what the budget was $500 until the release, but i would have guessed it was a lot more. The cast was amazing and the storyline was excellent. The suspense alone had me on the edge of my seat. The cast worked very well together and it showed in the movie. I give the cast and the movie2 thumbs up. It was a job well done.

This was one of the worst movies I have ever seen. At first I thought it had to be a student production of some kind, or a horror-comedy, supposed to be a parody. But it was not supposed to be either. It was supposed to be a "real" horror movie on the haunted house theme, and I find it incredible that professional movie-makers can make such a flop of this theme NOW, in the 2010:s??! This would have been a bad and clumsy horror movie already in the 1930:s.
I do not even know where to start. EVERYTHING was amateurish: the script, the acting, the directing, the special effects... There were no dramaturgy at all. Even the real people who were not supposed to be ghosts, looked, talked and moved like zombies. ALL of them looked out of place. The ghosts, on the other hand, did not look like ghosts but like real people, there was nothing other-wordly about them at all, and they were totally un-scary. The horror music did not scare either, because it was too loud, blatant and obvious. Total flop, there is nothing redeeming here at all.

Great Premise, Very Entertaining, in the style similar to "The Shining"

This entertaining horror movie had a very "The Shining" like style, but with a total different premise and unique story line. The interactions between Michael (Regen Wilson) and Jim Shoemaker (Mick McGuire) were quite awesomely done and were the hit of the movie! Regen Wilson's portrayal of Michael additionally added a critical element of chemistry to the movie over all. Mick "Two Birds/One Stone" McGuire's lines in the movie were unforgettable and sure to be repeated by those who have seen the movie. Overall, the cast did well, and the story kept you waiting in anticipation to what was going to happen next. I will not get into the other characters' individual analysis, as I do not want to give away too much of the plot, but the haunters were definitely both intriguing and creepy! ~Dave

The other night I was invited to the private screening of The Haunting of Pearson place, and was asked to please review the movie on IMDb by the DIrector. I've never written a review, so here goes nothing as they say!
I really like the film, it wasn't as bloody or gory as I was hoping (I'm a big fan of the SAW series) but over all the film was rock solid. I also like a little more TnA...but that's just me...Horror films generally mean, bad acting and some nudity. This film had great acting, and the story was real solid. The actors were also a bit older than you'd see in horror movies...they were in their 30's and up. But I recommend the film because its freaky, weird and funny.
It was also beautifully shot, and as a hobby photographer I was really impressed with it's composition and style. The D/P and Director seem to work really well together.
Over all a really solid film, with less kills and nudity than a horror film, but smart and it makes you think about what's going to happen rather than showing you.

I simply LOVED this Movie.
It was moody and very well Acted. Tracy Teague did a phenomenal job, and Ken, Regan and Julie were also spot on per their Roles. Last but certainly not least, it is obvious that Joe Estevez has acting 'genes' that run across his family. His brother has nothing on him for the role he portrayed in 'Haunting'! He was amazing.
The screenplay was tight (some of the tag lines.. well.. I won't forget them anytime soon!)... it had humor interspersed with some cutting edge sarcasm and genuine panic. Michael's direction was very intriguing. Its obvious that he is a student of the business and has taken some real cues from some masters (Hitchcock really comes to mind). Some very creative camera panning, angles and draw backs..
All in all, I think this movie was really good and deserves a decent distribution. I would go pay $10 at the big theater to see it! Bill Hocking

This movie was not a blood bath, or overtly violent. And thats a GREAT thing!
As a woman it's nice to see a film that takes womens points of views into mind. It was beautifully shot, well directed and the acting was superb. It had something known as dialogue...yes actual words were spoken and a story being told. Not just a bunch of naked girls running about covered in blood, and overly moronic characters.

"The Haunting Of Pearson Place" is a paranormal horror film directed by Michael Merino which stars Joe Estevez, Suzi Lorraine, Ken Arnold, Tracy Teague, Regen Wilson, Julie Price, Mick McGuire and Kelley Slagle. The film follows a yuppie couple from the city who set out to turn an old historical property into a quaint bed & breakfast. Being that this is a supernatural/psychological horror story-where the dead have their own plans for the place, and anyone who ventures into the home- things go terrifyingly wrong.
Ghost stories are a staple in horror, and even with the new fascination with found-footage stories, one can never really tire of a good movie with bad ghosts. "The Haunting Of Pearson Place" does not disappoint in that aspect. It is a mature, serious film about hauntings that is, both smart, and dark. It stays within the traditional-vein of paranormal storytelling, much like "Darkness", and the very classic "The House Where Evil Dwells". There is no overexposed use of gimmicks or novelty stylizing in this movie- that is really a major plus. Most horror films become boring or redundant when relying on the latest fades in genre horror films, but the standard-contemporary ghost story is timeless. Which is what "The Haunting Of Pearson Place" is, a timeless ghost story that is chilling, and entertaining.
The story is a slow-burn, evenly paced one that never really lulls into that place of "boring", like some films do in-between the highs. It stays at a steady pace of intense, tragic melodrama, that intertwines the character building moments with the dark, thrilling moments of the paranormal. The cast is believable, and the story is thoroughly well thought out. I did have a gripe with the main characters of Steve and Gwen, nothing really to do with the acting or their part in the plot- line, it mostly has to do with the fact that this couple should have saved their money they spent on this property, and invested in marriage counseling! I just wanted to slap them both! But hey -we all no the dead do love a nice, juicy, negative vibe-right! These people where tragically destined to horrors way before they stepped into the Pearson Place! That is for sure!
The bottom line is this-"The Haunting Of Pearson Place" is a classic chilling ghost story, filled with mean spirits-dark atmosphere and mature storytelling. It was well acted and directed with scary moments coming in at the perfect suspenseful moments. This film is a traditional ghost story that I thoroughly enjoyed. Good movie with a well developed story line. Not too gory, it did not rely on cheap thrills but rather it played upon the imagination of the audience using creative imaging and story content. They got me with the interesting and believable characters and held me with twists and turns. Suspenseful moments were well balanced with unexpected moments of comedy. I enjoyed watching the movie, my mind was racing to figure out the puzzle of Pearson's place before the credits rolled. I particularly liked the ending, glad to see it was not too predictable. The cinematography, acting and makeup were all great.

The Haunting of Pearson Place is one of those movies that makes you remember why we go to the movie theater. This movie was scary, funny and so much fun that I didn't want it to end.
The cast was awesome, Regen Wilson just chews up the scenery and you can't take your eyes off Julie Price...they both have "Star" written all over them. Ken Arnold and Tracy Teague were strong and so real that I felt like I knew these people...and I think I just might have a few friends that are them. And Mick MacGuire was so the creeper that he made me feel uneasy from the minute he walked on scene.
The ever wonderful and sinfully under-rated Joe Estevez (Yes, Charlie Sheens Uncle) was awesome as Bob the care-taker. He really drew me in. A real creep show that guy. And last but far from least, Scream Queen Suzi Lorraine was the topping to an already well iced cake...she was great as always.
One thing that really comes across is the beauty of the film. For a Horror film its just so well shot, and it almost feels as if you're in a painting. The story and direction were great, Michael Merino is a solid writer and crafted director. I look forward to seeing what he comes up with next.

The Haunting of Pearson Place is a gorgeous looking film! For an independent flick, it's absolutely state of the art, taking advantage of a great location, great talent, great FX, and utilizing cameras and sound that really set the atmosphere and tone of the film. In a nutshell, the story revolves around a couple moving out to the boonies to renovate an investment property... turns out they got more than they bargained for in the form of ghosts and demons plaguing their minds. There are some stand out performances in the cast from Mick McGuire, Regen Wilson, Ken Arnold, Joe Estevez, Tracy Teague, Julie Price, Kelley Slagle, and Nadia Williams. Each actor really brought an extra charisma to their characters which was needed to keep the story moving along- director Mike Merino definitely found the right cast for his movie! I had a lot of fun watching Pearson Place, and my only critique of the film would have to be the pacing. There were moments of dialogue that seemed to go on a bit too long (standing around in the foyer for solid minutes), or moments of tension that were not executed as well as they could have been (watching a hand crawl out from under a bed for what felt like forever). With that said, there's a vast majority of moments that did their job well and gave me a solid scare. Overall I had a fun time with this and would recommend it for those who love a moody, home-grown, and twisted ghost story!

In an era where it seems like the horror genre has been filled with slasher flicks that compete with one another to elicit an ever-escalating shock value, it feels nice to use one's brain to follow a worthwhile horror story. Michael Merino's touches bring out a little Hitchcock, and I found the movie highly entertaining. Regen Wilson does an especially nice job in his supporting role. In my opinion definitely worth the price of a movie ticket to own this one!" SHAMROCK 76. I must start with a disclaimer.. I was an executive producer for the MCM Film 502. However, not involved in this film, I must say that this is the reason I helped in producing Michael Merino's earlier film.
That out of the way, The Haunting of Pearson Place, came in well below the budget of other independent horror thrillers, and tuned out to be very good. Better than a number that have made it to the big screen. I attended the private screening and was pleasantly entertained. The film gives you just enough blood, violence, and suspense to make its comparison to the genera without going over the top. In other words it should have a broader appeal to a wider market.
The story line flows and the acting is very good, keeping an audience engaged from the start. But, the hidden diamond for the film is the subtle humor that runs throughout. This especially during the interaction between the charters of Jim Shoemaker and Michael. Sorry, no spoiler you need to see it.
Everyone associated with the film should be happy, and proud it was a job well done.

This movie is evidence that you don't need big budget special effects to tell a good ghost story. Pearson Place relied on the story and actors/actresses to deliver the frights instead of CGI and it didn't disappoint. It had everything you look for in a classic horror movie; scares, ghosts, creepy atmosphere, and a well written storyline. The movie made the viewer think, instead of forcing everything on the screen. At the end of the film, you're left with a little uncertainty about what you've seen. The question still remains... "What really happened in that house?"
Overall, The Haunting At Pearson Place is a film that any true horror fan will enjoy.

I really enjoyed the movie. It was definitely a thriller, in my opinion, paired with a bit of cheeky humor. It definitely had its intense moments that had me flinching and jumpy. I thought the story was creative and well written and the injection of humor was a clever touch. Tracy Teague's performance was outstanding. I loved her sassy and punchy character and thought it was very fitting for the overall tone of the movie. Was a fan of her previous release, Respire, so was looking forward to seeing her in this. Mick McGuire's character definitely had that creepy factor. But I also found myself giggling with his every appearance. Overall, I thought the production was well done and the cast collectively succeeded in evoking that eerie "haunted house" feel.

I enjoyed this movie so much I watched it twice (there were two private screenings) last night. Michael Merino is a slight of hand Director who doesn't smash you over the head with his film, he gets into it.
Lead actor Ken Arnold is so focused its almost scary. Regen Wilson is a boiling pot about to explode, with Julie Price as sexy and tempting as can be. Leading lady Tracey Teauge is the perfect 21st century woman...thinking she can have it all, and somehow deserves it. She gets whats coming to her!
The cinematography and score were so beautiful my ears and eyes melted. Hollywood films only wish they had the style and class of this film. Smooth, creepy and intelligent.

The Haunting at Pearson Place is superbly acted, directed and really, really
.funny. It's smart horror film that knows how to be truly entertaining by not taking itself too seriously. Regen Wilson is a master with reactions – one annoyed glance from him and the audience was in stitches. Ken Arnold and Tracey Teague were also excellent as the beleaguered couple under attack by the strange creatures inhabiting Pearson Place. Joe Estevez was also a riot as the constantly underfoot interloper (he was either a realtor or the caretaker – I can't remember which, but he was a delightful and creepy pain in the ass). A funny, creepy, thoroughly entertaining film that will not only hold up under multiple viewings but has great potential to become a cult classic.

Low budget but punches above its weight

For someone who's not a horror fan, I still found this film to be entertaining. It certainly punches way above its weight for a film made with a very, very modest budget. To that end, the technical aspects of the film from start to finish – the lighting, set design, sound, effects, film quality, etc. – are all very "normal" in light of much bigger budget flicks. Despite some difficult plot holes and twists, there are some smart elements in the story that probably could have been exploited a bit more and the set almost functions as its own character as should be the case with a horror film (or, perhaps, a not-so-gory thriller). A few good gotcha moments and a few memorable lines and laughs. Decent acting with a script that's a bit choppy and kudos to Ken Arnold as a solid central player.

The writing/story really kept my attention, I couldn't wait to see how it all played out. I payed $15 bucks to see a Hollywood film just two nights ago, and I wanted my money back. But with The Haunting of Pearson Place, i would have paid twice as much to see it. Just a smooth and creepy film. And right up my alley.

When the 7:00pm screening of this movie sold out I almost opted out. "Horror" flicks aren't a genre that I typically choose but I wanted to give this one a shot since I was invited to the screening.
I was pleasantly surprised by the movie. There was enough thrill and suspense to keep me interested but no so much gore that I was turned off and even a bit of humor which definitely helped me to settle down after the scares. The actors and actresses did a fantastic job and the storyline was good. I would have loved to have more back story with regard to the tension between the two main characters, but that's just my personal preference as drama is my preferred genre. Overall good show! Great job everyone!

I was at the private screening in Washington, DC for The Haunting of Pearson Place last evening and I have to say I don't recall the last time I had so much fun at the movies! Hollywood take notes...these filmmakers have you in their sights!
The Direction, story, acting and photography were excellent. As an artist ( I work in oils) I particularly loved the camera work. Tom Benca the D/P has a fantastic eye, and his skills are second to none. I've seen Hollywood films that look like they were shot by a group of blind monkeys working in the dark...this film is not the case. It's beautiful, and I loved it!
If and when this film goes into wide release, rent it, buy it, see it...you will not be disappointed! I LOVED IT...smart, scary and sizzling.

Tom Benca the D/P has a fantastic eye, and his skills are second to none. I've seen Hollywood films that look like they were shot by a group of blind monkeys working in the dark...this film is not the case. It's beautiful, and I loved it!
If and when this film goes into wide release, rent it, buy it, see it...you will not be disappointed! I LOVED IT...smart, scary and sizzling.

Congratulations to all those involved with the movie - so much tone, so much presence - layers of atmosphere! The music was fantastic and the sound effects were - well - effective! Loved the bits of humor interspersed with the drama of the story........... just, wow!
The tension between the leading couple was palpable; each did not fully trust the other, yet each tried to protect the other from knowledge about the unusual happenings. The addition of the supporting couple allowed each of the four to interact with others, thus giving the audience additional information about their characters and relationships. The house itself was a worthy cast member, contributing very definitely to the atmosphere of menace and expectation.

Some horror movies survive simply on the visceral, others thrive on the intelligence of story. The Haunting of Pearson Place does both with ample measure, going well above it's pay grade.
Writer-director Michael Merino does an excellent job of making us consider why couples do the things they do. He reminds us that most bad things that happen can simply be avoided because we don't think to communicate to one another in an honest and real way.
The acting is wonderful, and Mick McGuire steals the show as the ever creepy and always dead Jim Shoemaker. Ken Arnold, Regen Wilson and Julie Price are truly the glue that holds this story together. And Tracy Teague is astonishing as the bitch of a wife that brow beats and constantly degrades her loving husband. If I were her "man" in this film I would have killed her character in the first ten minutes. She's that "good"
Joe Estevez (yes of the Estevez-Sheen clan) is brilliant as the odd, off-putting caretaker Bob. You're never sure (until it's too late) if "Bob" is a good guy or just wants a tip. He's the creeper of all creepers and wonderful throughout the film.
The editing in my view is simple and to the point, no crazy cuts, and you can follow the story without much effort. It's all laid out before you to enjoy. And enjoy it you will.
The score and photography are simply inspiring, almost to beautiful for a horror-super natural thriller. But I suppose thats' the point. The beauty amongst the violence or horror.
My only main issue with the film is some of the CGI effects are a bit low end, but knowing something about CGI, I've certainly seen worse in $100 million ( Ahem Hunger Ga_es...) films. CGI is tough.
Over all this was a wonderful movie that was delicate, creepy, beautiful and ultimately entertaining. What else could one want?

If you want to watch a great ghost thriller, than I highly recommend "the Haunting Of Pearson Place" directed by Michael Merino. The film will keep you on the edge of your seat waiting for every next move. The cinematography was superb; they couldn't have found a better place to film it at. All actors did an excellent job and had strong acting abilities. The facial and character expressions by actors Joe Estevez who plays Bob Osberg and Regin Wilson who plays Michael, could not be surpassed. The reaction by Regin Wilson towards actor Mick McGuire will leave you in a state of shock that at moments are amusing. By the end you will be saying to yourself, "two birds, one stone" and walking out of the theater with a smile on your face.

I was given this film by a friend who thought I might like it and man was he right! Not only was THE HAUNTING of PEARSON PLACE well acted, well written and well Directed it was well shot and well edited. It burned slowly and diliberately. I wasn't expecting much from an Indie film but what I got was so awesome and freaky (in a normal cool way, not a weird one) that I ended up watching the movie a second time that night. And on the second viewing I caught all the clues that were so clearly there the first time. We've become so used to being SPOON FED movies now a days that its great to actually watch a film that makes you think and at the same time forget you're watching a movie. The actors were great, Regen Wilson is going to be huge someday, he reminds me of Jack Nicolson and Tracy Teague, Ken Arnold and Suzi Lorraine were dead perfect. Joe Estevez was sooooo creepy as the landlord that I laughed nervously every time he came on screen. The Guy was freeeeeaaakkkky. This movie Freakeeeed me out and Michael Merino knows exactly when to turn the heat up or let you slowly boil like a frog in hot water, before you know it...it's over. 10 stars simply because it was a low budget Indie film that I enjoyed more than the latest Hollywood poop out there. Watch this film!!!
