The film was completed with a budget of $0, with the cast and crew relying on whatever they already had to complete the film. The only two things purchased for the film were Simmons' knit cap and La Cabra's mask.
Jack Nicoletti originally wrote the first draft of the film in his 7th grade year, however, this version was much different. The contents of the mystery package was actually money from a bank robbery. It wasn't until his sophomore year of high school that Nicoletti decided to revisit the script, and ultimately rewrite it into this film.
The infamous "Rivoli Theater" was actually a real movie theater in Myrtle Beach, SC. All of the history in the film is true, however the location shown in the movie is not the actual building, as the real Rivoli Theater was turned into a Christian youth ministry called Ground Zero.
Writer/Director Jack Nicoletti and Producer Samuel T. Castellino were elementary school friends who both enjoyed movies. After Jack moved, the two stayed in touch and eventually decided to collaborate on this film. The two are very close friends in real life.
Vinny Nicoletti and Mary Nicoletti, who play Dawson and the Bartender respectively, are the parents of writer/director Jack Nicoletti.
