She Kills is a new exploitation from writer and director Ron Bonk, which has been selected to play at the Horror-on-Sea Film Festival on Sunday 21st January. I got chance to ask Ron a few questions about why he chose to replicate an exploitation style film, what were his influences from the genre and the issue of shooting a low budget feature.
What can we expect from the film?
Generally, insanity. The movie starts semi-crazy and then keeps going off the edge, only to reach another edge and another and it just keeps jumping off. But beyond that and the shocks and humor, there is a message there that I hope resonates with the audience.
Why did you decide to film She kills in the style of a 1970s exploitation/grindhouse?
I always wanted to do a Grindhouse homage. I love those movies, but loved even more what I expected...

The best part of Lifetime's "Unauthorized" TV show takedowns is the reaction of the real cast members. Over the weekend, the network took on "Beverly Hills 90210" and the actors weren't too impressed. However, they had different ways of "honoring" the big event. Tori Spelling used the attention to promote "Celebrity Lie Detector," and said she had a fling with Jason Priestley, who responded online. Shannen Doherty, not surprisingly, had a terse reaction to how she was portrayed. Jason dissed the Lifetime show and Tori's "Lie Detector," but supported Shannen.
Ian Ziering had the most fun, tweeting about inaccuracies during the special, sharing old photos, and ending with the perfect assessment of the whole thing:
..#unauthorized90210 Your mother and I are very disappointed. No Mondale for a week

Katy Perry performed at Super Bowl Xlix's halftime show Sunday night, and the 30-year-old brought out her full bag of tricks for the gig. Here are our favorite moments. Perry's Sochi/Frozen/Tron-themed EntranceOkay, riding in on a giant mechanical tiger was kind of a hard spectacle to top, but then all those dancers came out and it was kind of like Tron, but it was kind of also like Frozen? There were a lot of people doing flips and the floor seemed like it dropped out at some point and we think there was a glitch in the Matrix.

NBC’s first night of Winter Olympics coverage easily dominated Thursday night in the ratings, yet was down from the start of the network’s coverage in 2010.
Marking the first time NBC’s prime-time event coverage has started before the Opening Ceremony, the Sochi gameplay averaged 19.6 million viewers and a 5.8 rating among adults 18-49 — down 25 percent among total viewers from the first night of Vancouver competition in 2010. The network’s prime-time coverage included figure skating, snowboarding and women’s skiing Friday night.
Competitors were not as injured as much as you might expect by NBC’s ratings surge. Though most...

While our Sundance home page is the place for all our coverage from Park City, here is a brief rundown of what's been going on during the last 24 hours, including an interview with "Tucker & Dale Vs. Evil" star Alan Tudyk, new photo galleries for "Hesher" and "Howl," and reviews of "The Company Men," "Hesher," "Winter's Bone," and "Four Lions."
Said to be close to a sale, Bilge Ebiri expects "The Company Men" to be coming to a theater near you after Sundance. Here's an excerpt from his review, which can be found in full here:
While a variety of films from "Up in the Air" to "The International" have found an icy beauty in the clean lines and empty spaces of modern corporate life, there's a strange, quiet pall cast over the blank offices and boardrooms that make up the landscape of "The Company Men." That antiseptic aesthetic reaches into...

NBC on Tuesday presented a 2009-10 schedule that included a new shared time-period strategy as well as two high-profile cancellations that sparked controversy.
With "The Jay Leno Show" occupying the 10 p.m. hour five nights a week, all eyes were on how NBC would manage to reconfigure the rest of its returning lineup and new shows into a tighter schedule.
The answer is having more series than ever share time periods, with the shows' half-season runs separated by the network's coverage of the Winter Olympics.
The strategy involves abbreviated orders and will allow for fewer repeats, though if serialized shows are given longer hiatuses to make way for new content, it could also cause waning in audience interest and ratings erosion. (On the flip side, ABC's "Lost" is an example that shorter runs for serialized drama could still work.)
