In 2022, Netflix released a live-action series based on the "Resident Evil" video games, just a few months removed from the "Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness" anime series for the streamer. Not to mention, Johannes Roberts' cinematic reboot, "Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City." That film came just four years after the end of Paul W.S. Anderson's mega-blockbuster film series starring Milla Jovovich, which ran concurrently with a series of unrelated animated films and many installments of the video game. This is all to say that "Resident Evil," as a property, has grown beyond just the games, and that the fandom has splintered off into a variety of directions and mediums. Trying to appease the whole of the "Resident Evil" community with an adaptation is at this point, impossible. Too many people want too many different things, and those differences are often in direct opposition to one another.

The latest entry in the animated franchise, Resident Evil: Death Island comes two years after the last entry, Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness, and is set in 2015, just after the events of Resident Evil: Vendetta but before Resident Evil 7. Got that?
Somewhere in San Fransisco Dso Agent Leon S. Kennedy is trying to recover kidnapped scientist Dr. Antonio Taylor (Frank Todaro) when a mysterious woman appears and, after a high-speed chase, causes him to crash. Claire Redfield is also in town, trying to find out what kind of creature can use Orcas as a food source. And whether or not the creature is a bioweapon.
Jill Valentine, Chris Redfield and Rebecca Chambers are also looking for answers.

A new live-action film based on the Resident Evil video game franchise is in the works (we’ve heard that it’s called Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles and based on the game Resident Evil Zero), but while we wait to see how that’s going to turn out, we’re also going to have a new computer animated Resident Evil movie to watch. This one is called Resident Evil: Death Island, and it’s set to receive a Blu-ray, 4K steelbook, DVD, and digital release on July 25th! You can watch the trailer in the embed above.
Resident Evil: Death Island is the fourth animated Resident Evil feature, following Resident Evil: Degeneration, Resident Evil: Damnation, and Resident Evil: Vendetta. There was also an animated mini-series called Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness.
Directed by Eiichiro Hasumi from a screenplay by Makoto Fukami, Resident Evil: Death Island has the following synopsis: In San Francisco,...

This article contains spoilers for Re/Member.
Nothing says Japanese horror films like supernatural scares, urban legends, and grudge-bearing spirits. Eiichirō Hasumi, director of Assassination Classroom and Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness, attempts to bring all these elements together in Re/Member, a movie adaptation of Karadasagashi (Body Search), a manga spread over 17 volumes and 153 chapters.
The plot of Re/Member follows the age-old movie formula of time loops with its core theme leaning towards puzzle-solving. Japanese cinema is no stranger to playing with time, The Girl Who Leapt Through Time being the most well-known of the bunch, though this film takes on a far darker approach to the genre. In case you haven’t read the manga, six classmates are haunted by an unforgiving spirit and tasked with the retrieval of its body parts. Fail to find those parts and the day resets, bringing about your untimely and brutal death.

Capcom are once again dipping into food with Resident Evil. After Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness got its own limited-edition drink from Cocalero, Capcom has teamed up with a company called GameFlavor to create drinks modeled after the series’ iconic First Aid Sprays.
Reported by Nintendo Life, GameFlavor is introducing these limited edition drinks to mark the 25th anniversary of the Resident Evil series. Limited to 4750 units, the packages will come with 10 cans of the drink, which will have hints of cucumber, lime and mint. There will also be four Ink Ribbon canisters included, which contain a selection of herbs. It’s not clear what exactly you’re supposed to do with these herbs, but creative fans will find a way to use them. The packs will also include spray caps so you can display the cans after you’re done drinking them, as well as a certificate of authenticity.

Mortal Kombat Legends: Snow Blind is the third and latest installment of the Warner Bros. animated franchise following Scorpion’s Revenge and Battle of the Realms. And it wastes no time getting right into the bloody action. Literally in the first minute of the film a convoy of vehicles pulls looking like it rolled out of one of the better Road Warrior rip-offs smashes through the gates of a town. The occupants begin slicing off heads, ripping out spines, impaling and incinerating the residents in gruesome detail. King Kano and the Black Dragons have arrived, ironically telling the survivors they’re here to protect them in return for a small tax.

Exclusive: Netflix has opted not to order a second season of Resident Evil, its action horror series loosely based on the popular video game franchise. The news, which comes a month and a half after the series’ July 14 release, is not entirely surprising as the drama did not have a particularly strong showing on Netflix’s Top 10 and cost vs. viewing is the streamer’s leading renewal criterion.
Running partly in the shadow of mega genre hit Stranger Things, which was released within the same time frame, Resident Evil debuted at No. 2 with an Ok 72.7 million hours viewed. But It did not deliver the big Week 2 bump one would like to see for a new series as word of mouth spreads, raking in 73.3M hours viewed in its second week for a No. 3 finish before dropping precipitously and falling out of the Top 10 after only three weeks. Like the slow-walking villains of its movies and video games, the “Resident Evil” franchise just doesn’t seem to die. In 2016, “Resident Evil: The Final Chapter” concluded Paul W. S. Anderson’s series, which began in 2002 and starred Milla Jovovich as humanity’s one hope against the apocalypse; but only six years later, and after a lukewarm animated reboot (“Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness”), Netflix is again looking to add to the undead canon with an eight-episode series, simply titled “Resident Evil.”

Since the games first debuted in 1996, "Resident Evil" has been a worldwide pop culture phenomenon. With a whopping 28 games, seven live-action feature films, five CGI animated films, four stage productions (including a musical), four in-universe documentaries, six dramatic audio albums, an animated series, and a live-action series adaptation on the way, it's safe to say "Resident Evil" is one of the biggest franchises in history. The latest adaptation comes from Netflix, with the live-action series centered on franchise villain Albert Wesker debuting on July 14, 2022, a few days past a year since the streamer debuted the animated series "Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness" and...

With the Christmas holiday hitting later this week, Tuesday is looking to be a somewhat quiet day for horror and sci-fi home media releases. Scream Factory has put together a Collector’s Edition Blu-ray for The Vampire Lovers and Tempe Video is showing some love to a trio of overlooked micro-budget genre flicks from the 1990s: Kingdom of the Vampire, Zombie Cop, and Humanoids from Atlantis. Other releases for December 21st include Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness and Roh.

"Resident Evil," seemingly against the odds, has been a big staple in the pop culture landscape for well over two decades now. Beginning with the classic Capcom video game series, this take on the zombie genre (which evolved into something far grander) has become a true multimedia behemoth. Popular video games, a massive movie franchise, merchandise, animated projects, and now: a live-action series in the works for Netflix, the king of the streaming game. To that end, Netflix already released the animated "Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness" in 2021. They are clearly high on the franchise.
