Remembering a legend

Warning: Spoilers
This three disc DVD collection featuring a number of Eddie's best matches, certainly has its moments. There's a few good matches left off, his drug abuse, which came to a head while he was in the WWE, is almost completely glossed over. There are some nice vignettes, particularly from his Los Geurros days. All in all though we get some idea of Eddie's life and some super matches. So it's not a bad collection at all.

Disc One looks at Eddie's ECW and WCW days after looking briefly at his family heritage and childhood. The first match on the collection is an energetic ECW bout with 2 Cold Scorpio from 1995. THis is followed by a superb match between Geurrero and Dean Malenko later in the year. Unfortunately the crowd seems more interested in getting some grandstanding clown thrown out of the building than the actual match which is one of the best ever to take place in ECW.

From there it's off to WCW where we see Eddie's decent match with Shinjiro Otani from Starrcade 1995, followed by a solid United states Championship match with Ric Flair from Hog Wild 1996.

Eddie now focuses more on the cruiserweight ranks and has memorable matches with Chris Jericho from SuperBrawl 1997 and then Rey Mysterio. Though it doesn't include their Haolloween Havoc match, it does have their match on Nitro a couple of weeks later.

Next up is another match with Malenko, for the CW Title at Starrcade 1997, easily the best match, wrestling wise on that show, next is a match with Ultimo Dragon from Slamboree 1998, followed by further matches with Juventud Geurrera from a Nitro in August 1998 and a match Psychosis from Thunder in June 1999. That rounds out the disc and it's off to the WWE.

Disc Two starts with another match with Chris Jericho, this time for the IC Title on RAW in April 2000, followed by a King of the Ring qualifying match with Matt Hardy from SmackDown in June 2000.

Next is a very entertaining IC Title match with Rob Van Damm from Backlash 2002. The crowd is hot and the action superb. Eddie's win leads to the next match against Jeff Hardy on RAW 8 days later. A pretty short match that is only on the DVD because Hardy is popular right now.

Next up is good match between Edge and Eddie from SmackDown in late 2002. Edge, Eddie, Angle, Chavo, Mysterio and Chris Benoit were absolutely tearing it up every week on SD at this stage and it was good to see the SD Six represented in at least one match on this DVD.

Eddie formed a tag team with his nephew Chavo in early 2003 known as Los Guerreros and they soon found themselves in a tag team championship match against Team Angle, Charlie Haas and Shelton Benjamin at Backlash 2003.

Next match is an intense and well done Backlot brawl between Eddie and Cena, and then a good match between Eddie and Chavo at the 2004 Royal Rumble.

The Disc ends with Eddie Geurrero winning the WWE Title in stellar match with Brock Lesnar.

Disc Three starts with Rey Mysterio talking about Eddie as a champion and then we see Eddie's bloody brawl with JBL from Judgment Day 2004, a good match and then another good meeting between the two in a steel cage in July 2004.

He is robbed of victory, and the title, after interference from Kurt Angle and the next match on the disc is Eddie vs Angle from April 2005. Eddie turned heel around now and went into a long feud with Rey Mysterio. The only match we see here is a fun cage match from late 2005. The last match on the disc proper is Eddie's match with Batista in the main event of the No Mercy PPV.

The extras include some Los Geurreros vignettes, some memories from Chris Jericho and Eddie's final televised match, against Mr Kennedy, screened on November 11, 2005.

This is a nice look back at a great career. There are several matches left off that could have easily been fit in by leaving off the Cena and Jeff Hardy matches, but really no complaints. What's on there is good. There are a few complaints that this was not a biography DVD, but I find those are only interesting when the subject is involved in the production with insights and interviews. This is a decent collection and worth owning.
