Warning: Spoilers
As soon as I saw all the blood with no body, I knew it was staged. But I was sure another explanation would be forthcoming ("he wanted to bring Henry back into the fold" was too lame).

And what was the significance of Freddie constantly dropping things: the cake at the clay pigeon shooting, the third mobile this month? Am I to believe it's nerves, because of his father's plans?

Overall I enjoyed the series, but mostly because of Professor T's backstory and Ben Miller's acting. Most of the investigations lacked a strong storyline.

An ok finale.
Sleepin_Dragon26 June 2021
A wealthy and successful businessman is shot at during a function, and a few days later he's killed, The Police take a close look at his family.

I had hoped for a big finale, something to equal or better the previous episode, unfortunately it ends with a bit of a damp squib, I found it very hard to connect with this one, it didn't hold my interest.

I liked that we once again learn a little about Jasper's past, in truth that was the best element here, I thought the story itself was poor. Several things are explained here, and there is no denying the absolute brilliance of

It was good to see Inspector Rabbit back, and looking much calmer.

I hope this isn't the end for Jasper, 6/10.

Family feuds

After a strong fifth episode, this might not really be the story to end the series on(there were 39 stories in the Belgian version) but there is a cliffhanger which surely will lead to a second series being made.

Some great humour, the hatred of parties, several people being stood up and an attempt on a entrepreneur's life which offers a great deal of intrigue but the last episode was so good that it makes this one look relatively poor.

Still a good watch and hope we don't have to wait too long to continue the story of Jasper's past.

Don't leave us this way!

We must have a series 2 after that ending. I have enjoyed every episode-no least the surreal breaks.

I don't care if people prefer another version- this is the only version I've seen- and I'm not interested in others.

I think it shows that Ben Millar is a huge fan of the books.

I love that Frances de la Tour plays his mother-they make a great duo.

The rest of the cast all blend perfectly.

There must be more.

Not a patch on Belgian equivalent

So so TV show that could have been so much better , maybe I was expecting to much having seen the excellent original Belgian series with the wonderful Koen de Bow as the professor and Ella Leyers as Detective Donckers.

Given how eccentric we Brits can be I thought the UK version would have a right go at making the wonderfully wacky Belgian show come to life in the UK , unfortunately it failed , maybe the actors did not watch the Belgian version before taking on their roles, if so then poor them, even worse if the UK creators and producers never watched the Belgian version as that would be truly criminal.

All in all it passes the time for 40 odd minutes but if you guys don't believe me on how lacking the UK show is and you want to see what the show should be like, go watch the Belgian version if it is still on all4 or download it.

It is a wonderfully wacky show that will make you laugh, make you cry and give you that edge of the seat entertainment that you can invest in ,I guarantee anyone who watches the Belgian version will smile as soon as they see the expressions pulled on the face of Koen de Bow as Professor T , sadly all that is missing in the UK show..!

If it gets more seasons then please go re-watch the Belgian show and give us something closer to that, Professor T deserves it..!

Watch for Ben Miller and Frances de laTour

Passable. However a bad knock off of a hybrid of Monk/Morse/Creek.

Miller, de la Tour. Take a bow.

Otherwise. Season 2? Noooooo!

The Dutiful Child
Prismark1014 September 2022
Warning: Spoilers
James Samson (Robert Cavanah) is a billionaire businessman who has an attempt made on his life.

Samson is blase about it all. He thinks some right wing might be responsible. His much younger wife is worried.

The police look closer to home for the suspect. Samson had pledged to give his fortune away before he died. This means it could be his wife, his estranged son or his adopted son who killed Samson.

Professor T's insights are used when Samson disappears and the room is sprayed with blood. Professor T believed that it was staged.

Later Samson's body is found. He was shot and partially burned.

A tepid and disappointing end to the series that rarely soared.

You had to rely on the explanation of how exactly Samson died. Much better was Professor T's backstory which mirrored the main plot.
