Simply funny
Waedliman4 January 2022
Jinkx Monsoon and Ben de la Creme in a Christmas special that packs a punch, where nothing and no one is spared and the nasty jibes against everything that seems sacred to everyone at Christmas and yet is so hypocritically bypassed land at least 90% in the pit of the stomach and the laugh muscles at the same time. Add to that an amazingly good singing voice by Jinkx and the result is a brisk hour of good entertainment, provided you have a critical attitude towards church and religion anyway. Otherwise, you might want to throw Molotov cocktails into the TV.

Brash, Campy, Offensive and Very Funny
travisvincent31 December 2021
What a wonderfully offensive, crude and funny holiday movie. What more can one say about a one hour twist on classic holiday songs and new one as well. And there's a naked guy who may or may not be Jesus. If you have an hour to spare you should probably watch something else but if you have two hours to spare then save one for this little gem. It's lowbrow but fun.

The Best 60 Minutes I've Spent in 2020
ceggers-7934518 December 2020
Everything about this is so charming, fun, and witty. I laughed out loud multiple times. Jinkx, DeLa, and the ensemble are incredibly talented. The costume and set design was also wonderful- it's very hard to take your eyes off the screen. Loved the attention to detail and overall message too!

I don't know why but I can imagine rewatching this every year at an interactive movie theater like we do for Rocky Horror.

A Christmas Dragsterpiece!
TerrorTrain9020 December 2020
Dela and Jinkx have really done it! Jinkx's vocals are better than ever, Dela's direction and delivery are top notch, the original songs are all extremely clever well crated (check out the album as well!), and the whole event is by turns touching and hilarious. It's a real success story of independent artists. Watch now!

Not for the faint of heart
hmb-5177824 December 2020
Warning: Spoilers
If you're a Grinch and your heart is 3 sizes too small, this isn't your show.

If, on the other hand, you're looking for a Christmas/Holiday show with sex jokes, nudity, and more tap dancing then you'll really need, then this is your show.

Ben Dela Creme (who directed this catchy, entertaining, pastiche) stars with Jinkx Monsoon (who lend her pipes and her flawless comedic timing as well as her and musical partner Major Scales amazing creations to this heartfelt special.

Is the naked guy at the top of the show more than eye candy? Maybe.

Is he only covered by pixilation? Yes.

Is he the only nearly nude participant? Not even close.

The show does that thing where it teases with visual treats so you'll stick around for the real meat of the evening.

Which is about the dangers of blindness in the face of tradition.

And before you assume the show has a specific bias - it is a show starring two drag performers with gender queer and gender non-conforming people all around - but at it's heart it's about the way we all suffer with expectations and traditions that don't serve us.

And while some folks will say: I love my holiday traditions. I will ask - do they serve everyone in your life and family?

I remember holidays when I was younger. It seemed like people were enjoying themselves.

But I know how many of those folks were drunk for the proceedings. And how later there were protests and promises to never do it again.

This is not the signs of a comfortable tradition. But it isn't Christmas that's being looked at so seriously, but the idea that we can't really judge other people's past or their compensation mechanisms for the pain they harbor.

So you get nudity, sex jokes, and heart.

Not recommended for people who don't want to see adult language, nudity, or their precious egg nog recipe in all its glorious ugliness on display.

Irreverent, Celebratory, and Brilliant
It's a drag show.

Super clever writing. But it is Book of Mormon-level irreverent.

That's right up my alley, and I bet it's right up your (back) alley.

So inappropriate, but so amazing.

The humor is crude, but really funny. So glad I decided to not watch this show with my mom, who is a big Drag Race fan. It would have been awkward.

Cringey!
voulivoux14 July 2022
Is this the best Seattle has to offer? Yikes! Cringe viewing starring the two most annoying drag queens in America. Ben De La Crème has to be the most annoying character invented since Jar Jar Binks and Jinkx, although talented is probably better off doing a solo show.

A campy, visually & musically brilliant Holiday masterpiece
privatenetuqqa5 February 2021
You may think I am over exaggerating in the title, but I REALLY AM NOT. The Jinkx and DeLa Holiday Special is 67 minutes of pure enhanced serotonin production. I am a huge fan of Jinkx and DeLa to begin with, and this holiday special made me fall even more in love with them. The music composed by Major Scales (who has been making music with Jinkx for years, a brilliant talent) and produced by Keith Harrison, with the lyrics written by BenDeLaCreme and Jinkx Monsoon, are a guaranteed laugh, with actually impressive vocals and relatable themes. This film is absolutely heart throbbing for those of us who have indeed been traumatized by Christmas, don't mind the nudity or the crude humor. Saying this I realize I am most definitely the target audience for this film, but nonetheless, I would imagine anyone of age would absolutely love this piece of art.

Lots of fun!
bethsims20 December 2020
It's campy and sweet. Not the best film ever but it's fun if you're into drag. The quality is very much a nod to live stage tv holiday specials. Great musical numbers. Not for everyone but I really enjoyed it!

A new holiday tradition for sure!
shinigamilesbian15 October 2022
I am still amazed by the fact they produced this whole movie by themselves. From building the set, writing the script and the songs to even directing which included a 10-13 hours rehearsals and recordings. Not to mention everything was done during the pandemic. A joyful and so so campy hour of laughter for every queer individual who finds the holiday season quite too hard and depressing. That was the main message and they never disappoint in giving people a little bit of joy in hard times. There's puppets, there's drag queens, plenty of nasty jokes and a silly choreography. What else do you need?

well choreographed - very satrical dialogue (don't watch with the children))
veluhomme2 December 2023
The choreography is excellent and complicated. The dialogue/songs are raunchy, irreverent, fun, and often hit the spot re: traditions and how they can sometimes make people miserable at Christmas. There's no preaching nor finger pointing saying that keeping traditions is bad. It's just a fun way to remind people to enjoy the moment and not get wrapped up in feeling like they 'have' to do things just because it's ALWAYS been done - even if they don't want to do it any more. (tradition!).

Lest this sound like a depressing and preachy film, it absolutely isn't! It's simply fun and, even better, it's got a happy ending! Great Christmas film to watch early in the season!

A Better Holiday than we Deserve.
bcehan24 January 2023
I knew her from Drag Race of course, but when I saw INFERNO A-GO-GO! In Ptown, I left convinced that DeLa would at some point accidentally write the 21st century's answer to "Angels in America." That hasn't happened yet, but she's definitely getting closer with each outing.

DeLa's dedicated to silly puns and gags, but her ambition and perfectionism always pushes her to be more insightful than the campy dictates of the form demands. The most "blasphemous" joke even turns out to a little profound.

The half hour covers a *lot* of ground and a lot of costumes. Jinkx is certainly no second fiddle and is in fine voice throughout. The two play off each others' persona's with ease.

We definitely need more specials. There's a bit too many "whimsical" takes on alcohol abuse here but there's a lot of very sharp meta-commentary going on as well. Sometimes needing everything to be "just perfect" pays off.

On the Cheap
westsideschl15 January 2022
Production cost seems mostly for elaborate costume clothing changes, wigs & make-up. A little spent on a stage prop of a building facade w/a bar in front. That's it except a lot of juvenile humor (sex humor obviously included); alcohol references; narcissistic prancing about; terrible singing. Oddly, it was filmed on a location in Seattle's Duwamish industrial area (cheap rents).

Drag is SO last century...
IdaSlapter18 December 2022
I wish the gay community would join the 21st century and move on from these stereotypical backward-looking cliches.

Drag is basically blackface for Gays. Yeah, I know...I'll get downvoted for that, but only because it's true. Dressing up in Gramma's rags doesn't do ANYTHING to help bigots accept gay people as people just like them. It just reinforces the stereotype that gay people really want to play with dolls and put on mommy's makeup.

Move on kids. It's not the 1980's-1990's anymore. These shows -- including and especially RuPaul's show (talk about stuck in a rut!) are embarrassing cliches that are relics of the past.

Cum Dick'son Cum Prancing
arfdawg-119 March 2023
One of the worst holiday show ever on record since the beginning of time.

Production vaues are nil. Like the money was spent soley on costuming with no regard to production. Bet the gals kept the costumes too.

These two are annoying drag queens. Unfunny and inappropriate by any standards. It's low humor. Real low.

Don't expect anything near the quality of Charles Ludlum's performances from back in the day. His shows at the Ridiculous Theatrical Company were spot on. I used to live on block away from the theatre and would see whatever was playing all the timein the early 80's.

This show is pedestrian.
