I'm not Christian but I couldn't help but cry almost every episode!
Themina24 November 2020
What a beautiful show and what a magnificent choir. I loved the personal stories. It was enough to touch the viewer but not too much so it would be irritating. It wasn't forced in a way liked "oh we need sad stories for this show". It felt genuine! I also loved the judges. I wish the last episode would air the whole concert, for example Maria's solo was very short. If they will tour in Europe post-covid pandemic I am definitely going to the show :) !

Love the premise and production but
pauldanrodriguez26 November 2020
The editing is so awkward and awful. We see the same clip of one of the singer's like 4 times in full. It's a beautiful show and a beautiful story, but it just moves so weirdly because of the editing.

This Music is Cross Religion Deep
yilmazyasar13 May 2021
As a Turkish Muslim, I am a testimony by saying that this music is cross religion deep and it can be universally felt with respect and sentimentality. Stars of Faith concert in Istanbul Rumelihisari Castle back in the day have blown me away, cannot forget still. They were in tears singing their souls all over the sky, so were we. It was an impossible not to not feel something special moment for the audience. This amazing series brought the memories back. When you are in presence of depth of heavenly talent, you are in presence of something unforgivingly magical. That talent resides everywhere awaiting to be given an ear. Voices of fire, voices on fire. Loved it. Thank you.

Did not finish well
raylaurafreeman31 December 2021
Loved the first part of the series but the finale could have been so much more!! I was wanting to hear the choir and we heard the chosen few who I don't think were the best singers to begin with. It would've been better if they would've kept them as a choir and maybe had brief solos... Disappointing ending.

very touching, beautiful voices
kim-laird3 December 2020
The biggest problem in this choir was that the focus was on performing lots of runs. I found these to be really distracting and in the end very wearying. Maria's beautiful clear voice was great just as it was and I felt that making her do "gospel style" music wasn't necessary. Why not celebrate some of the differences in voices and singing styles?

loved the stories and the backgrounds of the different singers. I hope they continue to do well.

The reason why I loved this show... they knew when to stop.
nexusbrivers28 December 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I mean that. So many singing reality shows keeps on going and relies on drama and fights to keep up the ratings. With this series, it was humbling, encouraging, and showed what unity looks like, both humanly as well as vocally.

But it ended on time - with a "mission accomplished." This series could have easily dragged on for 3 seasons filled with hair pulling fights, that "call home to hear the wife is leaving because she's tired of being home alone," etc. This was just a focused show, and I was happy watching it.

Could always be better with sound editing (they boosted the mic of the soloist on the final cuts so that when they were pitchy, the whole choir seemed pitchy.)

I loved it :)

Gospel means the good news of Jesus our Savior
eboronkay19 December 2020
For a show about a church and a gospel choir, there is glaring absence of the Name of Jesus.

Not what you might think it is
stantims24 December 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I gave this series a bad rating, because it isn't a series about creating a gospel choir at all. It's about auditioning potential soloists, with triumph-over-adversity stories and who sing runs. Even the last episode, the choir's debut, wasn't actually a performance of the choir, but a montage of soloists. Also, while the profiles were interesting, and could move you to tears, the soloists were only adequate singers, and the choir didn't sound good, and was nothing special. It got old fast, and never got better. I must say, though, I really enjoyed the choir master, and the only reason I gave it a second star. I think his story, and the challenges and how he goes about improving choirs, would be a more interesting documentary.

Forever United
ronchristopherroberson2 December 2020
I was blown away with the idea of the Bishop to have a choir of different race. This is what God wants for us to be united. The voices of each individual were amazing I felt the Holy Spirit. This show was interesting from beginning to the end. The stories from these singers were like wow look at the restoration of God these people are still holding on. Thanks Bishop Williams for your vision that allowed many people to come out of their shells and gave them life. This is an experience they will never forget. You had some wonderful help putting this together. Thanks Pharrell Williams for allowing God to use you. The Voices of Fire are an amazing choir. The world needs to be united as one such a beautiful thing God has no respect of person, everyone is important.

Reality Talent show praising the Lord.
harril-586-267459 February 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Like all other talent shows, the episodes leading up to the finale are very emotional, exciting, and create a massive buildup in the viewer's hopes & expectations which are sadly dashed. The big ole concert disappoints with horrible sound recording revealing some wimpy, pitchy choral backing to over-reaching soloists, backed by an under-energised band. In spite of this, highlights are: amazing auditions, intense choir rehearsals led by a very inspired director and some quite interesting back stories.

This is a choir?
meganolia-128 November 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I can't say enough the talents pouring from these voices. God given talents but these are not gospel songs. They are singing RUNS over, over, over, and o er again. Songs are not screaming and putting focus on the singer. Not ONCE did the choir sing and blend the vocals of each singer. If you weren't black, you seemed out of place. Black churches sing out of zinc and eyes closed and it was not anything I thought it would be. Once Peggy singing melody and few runs, was so enjoyable.

Uplifting and emotional
rkibby5 January 2021
Started watching and couldn't stop. I love the spirit of this series. The vision to build a diverse choir as many voices blended together as one in worship speaks to the heart of the church. The church is a bunch of flawed, imperfect people who come together to show what can happen when you let God shine through.

There is a lot of amazing raw talent. I wish the episodes were longer but I do understand it's a pilot season so I'm ready to see it take off. Jahzeel looks like he can blow so let's see more!!! Overall I love it and it's very emotional and heart feeling!

Cool music, waaaay to much stories
jetkrijger23 November 2020
Love the music, but why the format...? Had really hoped to see more of the songs instead of the individual singers telling us for the 1000th time that 'this is an amazing experience' and 'I had to overcome so much'. Sorry, no, would not recommend.

Amazing voices terrible format
artoutbreak121 November 2020
I love gospel music I think it's just absolutely wonderful on the other hand I hate the format they chose. People have shown before you can make a really good movie with gospel singers without having to turn their life inside out for the viewers to pick over.

Unbelievable - inspiring and heart touching
rahulmanandhar8 July 2022
I honestly thought this Netflix documentary was a class of its own. The show showcases some very amazing hidden vocal talents who have gone through various hardships in life and have come out stronger. This show moved me to the core. I'm grateful. Especially with so much negativity out there in the media, this is a breath of fresh air! Highly recommended, whether you are from a religious background or not.

Inspiring but brings up another issue
dnas-4516516 January 2021
The talent of these singers is amazing, but you can't watch it without seeing the severe health issues so many of the cast have given such a large percentage of the people are significantly overweight. Since this is not addressed it seems a missed opportunity to understand why so many have turned to obesity.
