Dom, the Amazon Prime Video original series, is the three-season-long saga of Pedro “Dom” and his father, Victor Dantas. Both are from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and have lived complicated lives. The show is based on the true stories of Victor Lomba and his son Pedro “Dom.” Victor was an ex-police officer who had spent all of his life fighting the drug trade. Pedro, on the other hand, was exposed to small-scale robbery and narcotics intake from a very young age. Throughout the three seasons, many characters walk in and out of the lives of the father and son. Some have a good influence, while many others leave a terrible impact on the two of them.

Seasons one and two of Dom, the ambitious Amazon Prime Video project that chronicles the lives of Victor Dantas and his son Pedro “Dom” and his fight to get his son out of a life of crime. The first two seasons chronicled how Pedro’s life went downhill, but he refused to give up the robberies that gave him quick money. Season two extensively covered the life of a young Victor Dantas, who was writing a draft for his memoir titled ‘The Witch’s Kiss’ that described his life as a spy working for military intelligence and later working as a police officer in Rio de Janeiro. Both times, he was crusading to finish the drug trade and mafia in Brazil. Season two ended with Pedro being chased by Rio police.

Latin American shows are known for their over-the-top dramatic acting and dialogue. The shows are branded telenovelas for the same reason, and several Ott platforms have taken up this style of filmmaking and developed content following this trope. There are only a few shows that genuinely want to put forward human stories and allow the audience to be sucked into the world of gangsters and drug mafias. One of them has to be the famous Narcos series developed by Netflix.
Dom, created by Breno Silveira, was based on the novel by Tony Bellato and was a two-season-long saga based on the real-life characters ‘Pedro Dom’ and ‘Victor Lomba.’ The makers of the show merged the stories of the two figures and presented a hauntingly gripping story of crime and corruption, but at heart, it was a sad story of a deteriorating relationship between a father and his son. Victor Dantas,...

“Dom (Home in Russian),” “Quir” and “Iceman” look like potential standouts at Swiss Films Previews, the only spread of national movies at Switzerland’s Visions du Réel, the country’s leading doc festival.
Presented via excerpts at a two-hour showcase on Wednesday, three further titles – “Kalari – the Martial Art of Female Power,” “The Boy from the River Drina” and “Spheres” – underscored the strength in depth of documentary filmmaking in Switzerland and at least in this year’s Previews, a leitmotif. In an era of adverse circumstance, the doc features highlight figures who rebel, whether against Russia’s war on the Ukraine (“Dom”), climate change (“Iceman”), homophobia in Palermo, gender violence (“Kalari”), the Srebrenica massacre (“Boy”) or, in the case of Daniel Zimmermann, director of “Spheres,” stock narrative.
The films’ protagonists rebel, moreover, with courage, good humor, imagination, and above all resilience. “Quir,” for example, captures footage of gay couple Massimo Milani...

Dwayne Johnson and Vin Diesel’s longstanding “Fast & Furious” feud came to an official end last year when Johnson shocked fans by popping up as the beloved Luke Hobbs in a “Fast X” mid-credits scene. Diesel had extended an invitation to Johnson in November 2021 to join “Fast X,” but Johnson said the following month that “I would not be returning to the franchise.” That turned out to be a bluff.
The duo’s “Fast & Furious” co-star John Cena recently appeared on the “Armchair Expert” podcast (via People) and was asked by host Dax Shepard about the rumors concerning Johnson and Diesel’s on-set tussle. The host said “that was a rough pairing.”
“There’s certainly rumors about that. I can’t deny that,” Cena said. “You have two very alpha, driven people. You get two, there can only be one.”

The first Fast and Furious flick is the ultimate thrill ride of a movie! It doesn’t shy away from outrageous stunts and action sequences.
From insane car chases to defying physics with ramps and explosions, each F&f film delivers pure entertainment with a focus on spectacle. But what really make the movies shine is the awesome duo of Paul Walker and Vin Diesel.

A little while ago, we dug into the first half of the huge Fast Saga. Initially starting as a series of low-wattage B-movies, the series eventually morphed into mega-budget spy adventures that gave the Mission Impossible and James Bond franchises a run for their money. Of all the movies, Fast Five was undoubtedly the turning point, which took Vin Diesel’s Dom and the rest of the Fast Family to Rio, where they went up against a drug lord and met Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s Luke Hobbs.
From there, the series went on and on, enduring the death of beloved Fast Family member Paul Walker, a global pandemic, directors coming and going, and a feud between two of the stars that was so intense that it led to a spin-off movie and lots of hurt feelings. We also got larger-than-life villains, including Jason Statham’s Owen Shaw, who became...

The summer moviegoing season is officially upon us now that "Fast X" brought the "Fast & Furious" franchise back to the big screen, with this latest entry serving as the beginning of the end for Dom and the Fast Family. And given the movie's performance in theaters on its opening weekend, it seems like that's probably in Universal's best interests. We'll get into the "why" in a moment but, first, let's break down the numbers, shall we?
"Fast X" made a lot of money, taking in a decent $67.5 million domestically, but a massive $251.3 million internationally, per The Numbers. That ranks as the second-biggest global debut for 2023 to date, just behind "The Super Mario Bros. Movie," which was also released by Universal Pictures. On that note, "Mario" added another $9.8 million domestically this weekend ($1.23 billion worldwide). Somewhat amazingly, director Louis Leterrier's "Fast" flick made even more in China than it did in North America,...

John Cena is reflecting on his WWE feud with Dwayne Johnson, admitting to being “short-sighted and selfish” in the situation.
On the May 18 episode of the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Cena said he “really messed up” by feuding with Johnson between 2011 and 2013 when he returned to WWE after leaving nearly a decade earlier to pursue a full-time acting career. Of course, now both Cena and Johnson are major Hollywood stars, with Cena playing the brother of Vin Diesel’s Dom Toretto in the newly-released “Fast X” and Johnson headlining the upcoming action-adventure film “Red One” alongside Chris Evans.
“I got selfish, and me living WWE at the point and not having any concept of growth or someone else’s perspective, I took Dwayne’s comments as not genuine,” Cena said. “My view was, if you love something, be there everyday. What a hypocrite I am, because I still love WWE...

This post contains spoilers for "Fast X."
It is the beginning of the end for the Fast Saga as "Fast X" has hit theaters, serving as the first part in what will be a two-film finale to the long-running series. Though Vin Diesel has indicated that it could turn into a trilogy. In any event, Universal Pictures is beginning to wind things down with Dom Toretto and the gang. As expected, that means a lot of familiar faces from the past are going to reappear before all is said and done. But one wildly unexpected face did make a return, albeit in a very "blink and you'll miss it" sort of way. Depending on how things shake out, it does suggest a possible, more meaningful return in "Fast & Furious 11."

We've come to the end of the road. Though filled with characters that have always lived their lives a quarter mile at a time, even a franchise featuring never-ending runways and absurdly lengthy ziplines had to run out of pavement eventually. "Fast X" seems well aware of that fact that all good things must come to an end, as the marketing has billed this latest installment in the greatest saga of our times as, I kid you not, "The end of the road begins."

"The road to the end begins 2/10." The new trailer for the 10th Fast and the Furious movie, titled Fast X, drops on February 10th in just a few weeks. Leading up to that big reveal, Universal Pictures has unveiled a new "legacy trailer" for the original movie that started it all - The Fast and the Furious from 2001. With 10 days to go until the new trailer, they'll be dropping a "legacy trailer" for each of the 9 movies that come before Fast X. We'll add them below over the next 10 days before the main event. This first trailer is for the action classic starring Paul Walker, Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, and Jordana Brewster. It's just a 60 sec re-cut of the trailer from the past (can you believe its been 22 years?!) but it's cool to see anyway. I'm still amazed they've been able to keep this series going all the way to 10 movies,...

So fresh, much love, so funky, much London. Get in the groove with Rye Lane and you'll never forget Dom and Yas. One of the best original romantic comedy creations in years is the delightfully quirky, exceptionally entertaining Rye Lane, marking the feature directorial debut of filmmaker Raine Allen Miller. Rye Lane just premiered at the 2023 Sundance Film Festival and is already set for release (in theaters in the UK / on Hulu in the US) from Searchlight Pictures starting in late March this spring. It's one of the many must-see, don't-miss-it, get-your-ticket-right-now films from Sundance this year - its been a fantastic year. I've been recommending it to anyone asking. Thankfully everyone else who has seen it so far also loves it (here's one of the best reviews). The film instantly joins the ranks of beloved Sundance romcom classics like 500 Days of Summer, Before Midnight, Palm Springs, The Big Sick.

Connie Britton is responding to the viral fan theory involving her “White Lotus” character.
The actress played Nicole Mossbacher in Season 1 of the show, while Laura Dern voiced Abby, the estranged wife of Michael Imperioli’s Dom, in season 2. While viewers never saw Abby, they heard her voice several times and it’s left them wondering whether the two might be related.

“Oooh, I’ve never heard that before,” Britton told Variety at the Television Critics Association’s winter press tour.
As for whether the two might appear together in a third season, while she didn’t confirm or deny the idea – the possibility was there.
If asked back to “The White Lotus,” Britton would say yes immediately, praising creator Mike White.

Scottish filmmakers Will Anderson and Ainslie Henderson clinched the Powell And Pressburger Award for best film, the new main competition award at the Edinburgh Film Festival, with their debut feature A Cat Called Dom.
Anderson and Henderson both star in and co-direct the indie flick, which follows how Anderson deals with the grief of his mother’s cancer. In the film, the duo work on their animations and face the frustrations of trying to make this documentary. Whilst alone, Will turns to Dom, the animated cat that lives on his laptop screen.
The jury, comprised of president Gaylene Gould, producer Rosie Crerar, and author Sarah Winman, cited the “special collaboration” between the legendary British filmmakers Powell and Pressburger which they said “was grounded in deeply human stories and the belief that life can be magic” when handing the award to A Cat Called Dom.
Accepting the honor, Anderson and Henderson...
