Hampered by a poor script and TV limitations this never comes together in any sort of compelling manner
dbborroughs27 November 2009
Warning: Spoilers
Not very good thriller has Billy Zane as a one hit wonder who blew it all with sex drugs and other nastiness working on a come back when a beautiful blond vocalist comes into the studio. He's smitten and she puts him back on the roller coaster of sex drugs and rock and roll thereby jeopardizing his marriage.

Toothless thriller falls apart because its hands are tied due to its TV origins. Actually it falls apart with a script that isn't very good and promises way more than it ever delivers. Even a super late in the game twist that seemed to come out of nowhere (or was I just not paying attention?) fails to add any real life to this rather poor movie. Given the choice I'd take a pass.

OK to watch if you're bored. Otherwise...
No_Nonsense4 January 2010
I stumbled on this movie completely at random, and I was not expecting anything special. Thank god for that.

This movie is not as awful as the two other reviews (at the moment) are saying it is. It's just pretty much clichéd. It's obvious they were trying to play it "Wild Things", but hey, not every writer is Stephen Peters. The scenario is quite easy to guess, which is always a problem for that kind of movie : it's all about the ending, of course, and if that ending is foreseeable... well, it kind of throw the whole plot out of the window.

Also, the direction is very conventional. Nothing new, nothing really pleasant, but nothing catastrophic either. It's just 100 % old school.

However, I disagree with the previous reviewers about the acting. It's not brilliant, that's for sure, but it's OK. We can't expect much more from the actors for a simple TV movie.

All in all, I wouldn't advise anyone to watch this movie, but I wouldn't beg them not to. It's not great, it's forgettable, but if you've got nothing else to do, you can give it a try. Just watch it while doing some crosswords to keep your mind busy. ;)

Disappointing.
fcardamone26 March 2011
The film started off promising but it slowly spiraled into unbelievable territory. The character of Mike was also unbelievable because someone that had been sober for 15 years would not suddenly abuse drugs and alcohol because some young thing put some in your mouth. It was also ridiculous that Joyce's mother was celebrating her birthday one day and dies the next. I was disappointed because I really like Billy Zane and believe that he should still be able to make classy movies. The acting of Estella Warren was very wooden and it was so obvious she was miming her songs. The film tried very hard to be an edge of the seat thriller but was no where near it. The ending of the film was a major turn off.

Infomercials are more fun to watch
Plaidman186416 June 2010
There wee only three redeeming qualities to this film - One was Billy Zane, and the other two belong to Estella Warren.

BZ is way better than this, and was actually funny when he needed to be and outperformed everyone in his scenes. My only guess as to why he's here would be that he caught some kind of misdemeanour conviction and he's working off his community service hours.

This whole thing screamed of being a cable special. The acting was wooden, the production value low, the scenes where the actors were singing were so obviously studio-recorded I was rubbing my eyes. Overall, I'd have rather watched the Shamwow guy for 90 minutes than this abomination.

I'm not a Hollywood wannabe, but I am a New Brunswick taxpayer, and the idea that I paid for this train wreck baffles the hell out of me.

Not worth the time
mikiec9 May 2010
This movie was totally misleading in it's title. What surprises me is that it is being rated "MA" by the cable channel that is showing it. I have seen more action in a PG-13 movie than appears in this film.

The story about a fallen idol battling demons when he tries a comeback has been done before and done much better. The dialog was terrible. The acting is little better than an amateur film. Billy Zane sleepwalks through the whole picture.

Despite what another reviewer said about being tested and getting good results, I have to believe they were either high or drunk when viewing the film. They could not have seen the same film I viewed.

The film only had a $1.6 million budget, filmed in Canada for TV and there are no box office stats available. I suspect the reason for that is it went straight to DVD.

Paint drying is a lot more fun
samflash14 November 2009
Terrible terrible TV movie that Billy Zane obviously did for charity. From her one outfit change to a drastic soundtrack this film is a torture to watch. I am more shocked that a room of 3 people actually sat through this until the end. Recommend this one to your enemies if you want to have some fun. Appalling acting, dreadful script, atrocious makeup and costumes. Leave this one alone, I beg you. Did I mention predictable and a mix mash of Fatal Attraction, Britney Spears Crossroads and those awful daytime TV series. There are no redeeming qualities for this one I'm afraid. Well actually, there is one, its only an hour and a half long.

Just Awful!
njenkinson21 July 2010
After reading the negative reviews here (with only one positive), I figured I might as well check it out for myself.

Well, THIS woman isn't so nuts about Billy Zane that I was "seduced" into thinking Blue Seduction is anything but horrible. The test audience must have been on more drugs than Zane and Warren's characters combined in this film.

The acting was horrendous and the plot was a mess - all over the place. The only reason I kept watching was because I couldn't believe how bad it was...like a car wreck you can't help but look at.

Not worth your time even WITH a crossword puzzle in your lap.

Worst Billy Zane movie
strayalleycatzz25 May 2015
This has to be one of THE worst Billy Zane movies he has ever done. For a guy who normally plays a real bad ass, he was weak, pathetic and pitiful in this movie. The story line was terrible and ALL the acting was horrendous. A two star rating is very generous. The premise for a washed up one hit wonder singer trying to recapture his former glory is definitely missed the mark here. To go from a completely reformed bad boy (sex, drugs, rock n roll) to sliding back into that behavior within about five minutes is so lame. I usually love the twisted Billy Zane but was so sadly disappointed in this drivel of an attempt at a revival of his movie roles .

absolute torture!!!!
looseasgoose17 November 2010
Warning: Spoilers
I'm astonished this movie was ever made!! I would rather have surgery on my crotch than watch this again!! Billy Zane is a really good actor, why the hell did he agree to do this?? The dialog is complete crap- one scene really stands out for me.... Billy Zane cheated on his wife with a busty whore/skank that writes lame songs for him- she sends him a provocative picture in the mail, he looks at the picture and starts dirty dancing and OPENLY speaking about the things he wants to do to her not noticing his wife behind him who hears everything. He is startled by her and I swear his exact excuse is " Don't ever sneak up on me while Im practicing my stadium moves". I feel cheated out of 2 hours of my life, whatever you do- stay away from this movie!!!! I see the estimated budget on this film was $1,600,00.00, is this a joke? They would have been better off putting all that money in a paper bag, setting it on fire, then dropping it in a river. I would rather take a baseball bat, wrap it with barb wire, and shove it up my own ass than watch this again!!! Oh, and here is a spoiler-- Billy Zane dies at the end- ironically, you will wish you were dead too!!! thank you, goodnight

Movie was tested and the results are high
globaluniversal10 January 2010
BLUE SEDUCTION was tested in three states and came up with an APPROVAL rating of 8.9. It seems to be more favorable to females rather than men, and of course, mostly favorable for viewers who are not in the film business, trying to make a name for themselves! (Most of these so called critics appear to be wanna be's looking for attention, or hopefully fore their own film produced.) The basic fact that B.S., as it has become known on this page, is placed in the same category as FATAL ATTRACTION (one of the best BUT most expensive thrillers of its time), is a compliment, but NOT one that was seduced by the BLUE SEDUCTION producers. But since the majority of these "male critics" know nothing more exciting than "one bare nipple", it seems obvious that FATAL ATTRACTION is the only thriller they can remember.

Females love Billy Zane: sleepy eyed, walking or talking, outside of Hollywood California, as the film WAS tested, and that is what was stated! If a man ever dreamed of being seduced, I am sure the drawing of that femme fatal would not look much different than the beautiful and talented Estella Warren....

So it appears, Hollywood "wanna bes" would rather bash a film which the public viewers have already voted favorably for... how disappointing.

Nevertheless, BLUE SEDUCTION, with the approval of STARZ INTERNATIONAL, will continue, because it has been offered a theatrical release....based upon its high testing numbers outside of Hollywood....something none of these so called "male wanna be critics" will ever understand because it appears they have never been outside the box of their own fantasy life in front of their old rusty Hollywood computer.

hott
kairingler11 July 2013
Billy Zane wasn't that bad in this movie i thought, i thought that Estella Warren stole the show as Matty ,, the up and coming artist,, our main character,, former musician is down on his luck and struggling so he goes back into the music business to make another record and he is smitten by a very young and sexy cute girl named Matty, she also has a lot of musical talent, so the two are drawn closer,, then end up collating on some music together, as he sees that she has talent as well as beauty, the two get closer romantically as well he falls for her,, she convinces him to go back to the drugs alcohol, sex days of rock and roll , and later on she also convinces him that he can't be successful without her,, she is like a groupie, that won't take no for an answer, she stalks him throughout and when he finally doesn't want to be with her anymore, she can't stand that and takes some action.
