- After Jenny and Cassie learn the truth about Cody's fate, they decide to officially team up to track down Ronald. Elsewhere, Merrilee grapples with the fact that she didn't truly know her husband, while Helen learns more about her son's recent activities.
- In the aftermath of the incident with Rick which includes finding the girls alive but Cody dead, Jenny and Cassie not only are grieving Cody while needing to respect the grief of the other, but have to figure out a new way to relate to each other now that the mission to find the girls and Cody is no longer that bond. And while locating the unknown trucker that is Rick's partner is supposedly in the hands of the apologetic sheriff's department, they may not be able to let go of this task, especially having the trust of the girls who can identify him. And despite what Rick did to the girls and supposedly to Cody, Cassie has to deal emotionally and legally with the fact that she's the one who pulled the trigger that critically wounded Rick, who too has an innocent family in Merilee. With the girls' discovery in particular splashed across the media, Ronald, with his mother, now in the know, by his side, is feeling like a caged animal needing to protect himself. With Rick still unconscious in hospital and the girls able to identify him but not knowing his identify beyond being a long haul trucker, Ronald has to hide any evidence, the one about which he is most concerned being whatever documentation Rick kept in his safe place in his house which the authorities are treating like a crime scene.—Huggo
