Surprisingly good for channel 5

This show tells the story of three key days in Anne Boleyn's downfall. The presenter describes each day's events from their actual location which really helps to build atmosphere and adds authenticity.

I'm a big fan of the Tudor period of history and this does side with the more sensational interpretation of the facts - Thomas Cromwell is firmly in the villain camp here - rather than the more nuanced Wolf Hall interpretation.

However it's hard not to be emotionally impacted by the sheer personal side of the story - think The Passion of Joan of Arc rather than The Tudors and you'll know what I mean.

Well done Channel 5 in the UK - I had hesitated before watching this due to the choice of provider but was very pleasantly surprised.

Good subject gone wrong

Warning: Spoilers
I only rated it a 4 because at least half the time, we're watching doors close and hourglasses emptying. Also, I thought that blaming it all on Cromwell instead of the King was off-target.

Yawn

How much repetition and padding is needed? I presume the longer the episodes last, the more the production company gets paid, but how stupid do they think the audience is? We really don't need to be told everything again and again and again (and again). Had to turn it off as I was falling asleep 😴

Extremely poor

Based only on some excerpts, this is not history but pure imagination. That historian wanabe makes Cromwell the main author simply pretending Henry VIII had no idea about his "plot" to murder Anne Boleyn.

In fact all sources show nothing moved under king Henry without his precise orders.

Very poor series.
