Could there be a light at the end of the bat tunnel???
bthomas1000326 January 2021
So this wasn't bad. Ryan is a HUGE improvement over Kate, both character and actress. Ryan has a lot more personality and goofiness. It was also refreshing to see Nicole Kang's character, Mary not be so damn annoying. It also looks like they've, for the moment, toned down Alice & Jacob character's, enough with the scene chewing!! The underlying story with Safiyah, Alice, & Pennyworth, could actually be interesting, the whole, the enemy of my enemy is my friend. I'll be watching the next few episodes to see if the writing keeps improving. I think considering where this show started last year, and the episode today, there could be a slight glimmer of hope.

Truly awful

These first two episodes have made me realise the first season wasn't that bad, everyone except Julia, Sophie and Jacob need to be sacked along with the writers

Legacy of the Bat
chase18fiore26 January 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I thought this was a solid episode. I personally enjoyed the premiere more, but this wasn't a bad episode by any means. Alice has set her plan in motion to get face to face with Safiyah, and Ryan is realizing she has a whole legacy to live up to as the next Batwoman. I'm still really enjoying Ryan and what her character brings to the show. It's interesting seeing how she knows Sophie and how she is clearly not a fan of the new Caped Crusader. Ryan's also still got that nasty Kryptonite wound, so hopefully she lets Mary take a look at it before something terrible happens. Mary is also coming into her own now that Kate isn't around. Luke knows that the Bat has never been a killer, but Mary and Ryan both want Alice dead for killing their moms. Mary is the heart of the show and I love how she's becoming more comfortable with her place on the team. Jacob still remains insufferable even after he garnered a little sympathy from me last episode with losing another daughter. The Crows attempting to break up a peaceful protest really hits hard in today's social climate. I'm really excited to see Safiyah and learn if she's really as formidable as Alice thinks she is.

A minor improvement. Hope for the show to improve much more

So we have a new Batwoman. The reason why Ryan took the role and is now wearing the suit is not satisfactory or convincing enough.

The plot of this episode had some improvements, when Ryan provided an unexpected solution to the problem in hand, in her first big heroic act.

Ruby Rose could not act, let's be honest. Moreover, the writers do not seem creative enough. My only hope is that Javicia Leslie will be able to act better, so that the show improves a little. I do not have high expectations though, because I don't trust the writers

However, I am not a quitter either, and specifically I have never stopped watching a DC tv show. Let's hope I don't start now and I will give this show another chance

Back to the old Batwoman
Marilleep25 January 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Last episode was a breath of fresh air for the series; it felt like it was finally starting to improve. However, this episode fell back on the same tropes from the first season. First, the virtue signaling is getting annoying. It's not that I disagree with what they are presenting, but they are doing it with absolutely no thought or subtly; they're just spoon feeding to the audience what is correct. Granted, maybe asking a CW show to be subtle is asking for too much, but I digress. Second, the episode was boring. It was just characters talking about things with nothing really happening, with a weak action scene at the end. It wasn't all bad though. I still like Ryan as Batwoman and I still think she's better than Kate. Also, I'm intrigued by where they're going with this Safiyah person. It seems similar to the League of Assassins, which was fairly interesting on Arrow. Overall, while the episode isn't that bad, it's definitely a step down from the season premiere and doesn't bode well for the rest of the season; S2 E1 was the exception, not the rule.

Gotham, Hope and Upcoming Destruction
junaidbadar-1625326 January 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Good episode. Story moved forward in a nice way. The Batastrophe was interesting. Ryan Wilder's journey is setting a good tone, interaction b/w all the characters is nice. Tension b/w Julia & Sophie is increasing. Everyone is mourning the loss of Kate Kane & also not losing Hope. Alice is definitely missing her sister and she's getting really crazy mourning her loss in her own Psychotic way. Rachel(Alice) once again gave wonderful performance. Also Ryan writing to Kate just like Kate used to write to Bruce was really beautiful scene which also indicating the Legacy of "Bat of Gotham" transferred from Bruce to Kate to Ryan. Safiyah is coming & it seems like it's gonna be Safiyah vs Batwoman vs Alice and Gotham will feel the heat. Jacob will have to get help from Batwoman and maybe she will need help from Alice. Julia is also the enemy of Safiyah so she will also get involved in this whole fight. Looking forward to the next episode.

Getting better
jjconstantin27 January 2021
Warning: Spoilers
This episode gives that link in time on how the Ryan Wilder character was affected by Kate Kane (as Batwoman)when she saved her life when being mugged. And the fact that Ryan's storyline is slowly being interwoven with all the characters shows to me new and continuing along with the increased use of the new Batmobile we will see more and more gadgets come into play. They are not sacrificing on the way Alice is psychotic, manipuative and ruthless for her own goals (she was cheated in wanting to kill her own sister by Safiyah). I have high hopes for this season and so far I am pleased with the direction that it is going in so far, but let's hope that new and old villains (their offspring if any) do appear.

Growing on me, but still cautiously pessimistic
kappachino31 January 2021
I do like Javicia Leslie, easy on the eyes and I think she's a good actress, giving her all with the material. Slowly but surely we're getting Ryan Wilder's origin story, which is fine, and showing her smarts in her solution to the problem at hand near the end of episode, showing she can think on her feet.

The show is watchable, I do like Mary having a bigger role being a member of the Scooby Gang now. Hopefully her part will grow more. I appreciate the Asian representation with her and her mom (RIP).

I'm curious with the new big bad being set up so we'll see how that goes. Alice will eventually get old, her hamming it up all the time. With Kate gone, she'll be less relevant. And dead Mouse still being on the show, that's a little gross.

Anyways, still watching and waiting. Please surprise me and impress me...

More Batmobile and all the cool tech please...
