  Lawrence 'Crusher' Crock : Fair point.

  Courtney Whitmore : The trouble alerts, I guess. But all the files on Eclipso are confidential, and I couldn't find any in the basement. Why, Pat? Who is Eclipso?

  Pat Dugan : He's the Devil in the shadows. Evil, Court, real evil, imprisoned inside the black diamond.

  Barbara Whitmore : The one the Shade's looking for.

  Pat Dugan : And whoever has the diamond has Eclipso's power.

  Pat Dugan : I know, I know. I know.

  Barbara Whitmore : If it wasn't for Courtney, she...

  Pat Dugan : Barb, I just think this is the best thing for us to do right now to keep this all moving forward.

  Barbara Whitmore : I mean, you really believe they broke out of prison just to see their kid try out for football?

  Pat Dugan : That's what Crock told me. I have no idea. They're crazy.

  Barbara Whitmore : Well, what are they looking for? The Shade or Calypso?

  Pat Dugan : It's E-clipso. Eclipso.

  Barbara Whitmore : Who's to say she's not gonna be firing arrows at my head again?

  Pat Dugan : Okay, Barb, if they wanted us dead, we'd be dead right now.

  Barbara Whitmore : That does not make me feel better.

  Pat Dugan : Yeah. Is he stealing something?

• Barbara Whitmore : I was up most of the night.

  Pat Dugan : I'm sorry, I just... you know, I thought you should know everything.

  Barbara Whitmore : It's scary, the black diamond.

  Pat Dugan : Yeah.

  Barbara Whitmore : I mean, what happened with Doctor Mid-Nite, and do we tell Courtney about the JSA and...

  Pat Dugan : Eclipso?

  Barbara Whitmore : Yeah.

  Courtney Whitmore : [coming in]  What was that about Eclipso?

  Pat Dugan : How do you know about Eclipso?

  Courtney Whitmore : How do *you* know about Eclipso?

  Barbara Whitmore : You first.

• Pat Dugan : How's prison? Is it, uh, scary, or is it, uh, kind of fun like "The Shawshank Redemption"?

  Pat Dugan : Oh, just a movie.

  Lawrence 'Crusher' Crock : Cell's a little small. Gym's great. I got visitation rights with the missus.

  Pat Dugan : Oh. So, you keep up with any of your old ISA colleagues? Any of the... any of the gang?

  Lawrence 'Crusher' Crock : Who's left? That putz, the Gambler? Listen, truthfully, pal, ISA, me and the wife, we never really fit in. I mean, Jordan was a good guy, few colors short of a rainbow, but the rest of 'em, I do not miss.

  Pat Dugan : So, none of the old gang, huh? Not even the Shade?

  Lawrence 'Crusher' Crock : The Shade?

  Pat Dugan : Yeah.

  Lawrence 'Crusher' Crock : Haven't seen that tea-sucking scone gobbler in years. I never liked him, either. He was not a team player. You know, he made fun of my cleats, but he worse these ridiculous top hats. And those... what do you call 'em? The scarves?

  Pat Dugan : Ascots. They're called ascots.

  Lawrence 'Crusher' Crock : Ascots.

  [laughing in amusement] 

  Lawrence 'Crusher' Crock : Ascots. Hey, you want to know about bad, bad guys? I gotta tell you what the Dragon King did to the Wizard's body. Oh, my God. It's gonna gross you out.

• Courtney Whitmore : What are Eclipso's powers?

  Pat Dugan : He can get inside your head, make you see things that aren't there. Starman said the diamond drove people to do, uh... bad things... to themselves and to others.

  Courtney Whitmore : But the JSA stopped Eclipso?

  Pat Dugan : Yeah. Somehow, they managed to, but... the longer Eclipso's active, the more powerful he becomes.

  Courtney Whitmore : So the Shade, who kicked our collective butts without lifting a single finger, is looking for the black diamond to team up with pure evil. To do what?

  Pat Dugan : I don't know.

  Courtney Whitmore : [seeing Barbara is worried]  Mom, don't worry. We got this.

  Barbara Whitmore : Court.

  Courtney Whitmore : No, Mom, I'll be smart. There's nothing online about Eclipso, so we'll do recon the old-fashioned way: hitting the books. Beth's already on her way to the library. We won't rush in. I won't rush in, Mom. I promise.

• Lawrence 'Crusher' Crock : We didn't come back to town for revenge on you and the Scooby Gang.

  Pat Dugan : So what do you want?

  Paula Brooks : Our daughter has tryouts today. We can't miss that.

  Lawrence 'Crusher' Crock : We can't, can we, babe?

  Paula Brooks : Here's the deal: you help us lay low until tryouts this afternoon, and we'll break back into prison afterwards without incident.

  Lawrence 'Crusher' Crock : Right after our daughter kills it... on the field.

  Pat Dugan : Are you kidding me right now?

  Lawrence 'Crusher' Crock : Scout's honor. So you can hold onto that little wrench if you want. Heck, I'll even give you a head start over to S.T.R.I.P.E., and we can do this the old-fashioned way, or we can be friends, buds. I mean, you wouldn't want the world to know about your little robot, would you?

  Pat Dugan : [putting the wrench down]  Okay. Let's go watch some football.

• Pat Dugan : Crusher, what are you doing here?

  Paula Brooks : [dropping down from the ceiling]  We.

  Lawrence 'Crusher' Crock : You really stuck that landing.

  Pat Dugan : You break out of prison and you come straight back to your hometown?

  Paula Brooks : We left a decoy trail of breadcrumbs obvious enough for even the stupid cops to follow. They should be halfway to Miami by now.

• Courtney Whitmore : [watching Artemis say goodbye to her parents]  Why do I feel bad for them? Why didn't you tell me they were in town?

  Pat Dugan : I didn't have the chance.

  Courtney Whitmore : You could have called. Did you think I was just gonna rush in and fight? I would have listened. I'm not the same Stargirl I was last year.

• Pat Dugan : [watching Artemis' long touchdown throw]  That was, like, a 40-yard pass.

  Lawrence 'Crusher' Crock : She's a trip, ain't she, bud?

• Courtney Whitmore : Did you know that Eclipso killed Dr. McNider's daughter?

  Pat Dugan : How do you know that?

  Courtney Whitmore : So it's true. Why didn't you tell me, Pat?

  Pat Dugan : It's not an easy thing to talk about. Rebecca was ten years old. I didn't wanna scare you.

  Courtney Whitmore : I'm not scared. Is there anything else about Eclipso and the JSA? Or Bruce Gordon, what happened to him? Anything?

  Pat Dugan : No.

  [as the Crocks leave] 

  Pat Dugan : Come on, I want to follow these guys back to the penitentiary.

• Barbara Whitmore : Did you tell Courtney everything?

  Pat Dugan : No. Do you think I should?

  Barbara Whitmore : I mean... I... I mean, we promised there'd be no more secrets, but I don't know. Paula didn't tell her daughter about their other life. And now that Artemis knows... I mean, no matter what happens, she'll never be the same.

  Pat Dugan : If we tell Courtney about Eclipso and the JSA, she'll never be the same, either.

  Barbara Whitmore : Yeah.

  Pat Dugan : I mean, none of the kids will.

  Barbara Whitmore : So we agree, then? We need to protect 'em from the truth.

  Pat Dugan : Yeah.

• Pat Dugan : [at Artemis' football tryouts]  We sit down, you watch, stay quiet.

  Lawrence 'Crusher' Crock : As a mouse.

  Pat Dugan : And then you go back. No funny business.

  Paula Brooks : None. Your wife is lovely, by the way.

  Pat Dugan : I know that. Sit.
