  Courtney Whitmore : The only piece of fresh fruit in this place? Consider it a peace offering for the misunderstanding with the hockey stick.

  Artemis Crock : What are you staring at, Montez?

  Yolanda Montez : Nothing. I just can't believe they don't have wheatgrass, either.

  Artemis Crock : [taking the apple]  Thanks.

  Courtney Whitmore : Yeah. No problem. Um, I-I just wanted to say, I'm really sorry for the situation that you're in. I can't imagine how tough that must be.

  Artemis Crock : What situation?

  Courtney Whitmore : Oh. Um... you know, that situation that you... or, um, your parents... um, them being... in prison.

  Artemis Crock : My parents are innocent. They shouldn't even be there. Everyone's mocking us now. But we Crocks don't forgive.

  Artemis Crock : And we don't forget.

  Courtney Whitmore : [Artemis nudges her hard in the shoulder as she leaves]  Ow!

  Yolanda Montez : Boy... she's got anger issues.

• Artemis Crock : [seeing her foster mother packed her junk food for lunch]  What is this? I can't eat this.

  Millie Myers : [on the phone, gesturing for her to be quiet]  Listen, as much as I'd like to, I just can't foster these kids for free.

  Artemis Crock : How hard is it to buy whey protein?

  Millie Myers : They didn't have wheat protein.

  Artemis Crock : Not wheat. It's whey.

  Millie Myers : Hey, are you gonna get out or what?

  Artemis Crock : Can I at least have some money so I can buy a decent lunch?

  Millie Myers : You got a decent lunch.

  Artemis Crock : You didn't even pack me a protein bar!

  Millie Myers : Listen, you need to turn it down a notch, missy, okay? Or else I'm not gonna be accepting any more of those collect calls from the penitentiary. You got it?

  Artemis Crock : My tryouts are today. What am I supposed to do for fuel?

  Millie Myers : I don't know. That's your business. Now, get to steppin', I got a nail appointment to get to.

  Lawrence 'Crusher' Crock : How you doing, Artie?

  Artemis Crock : I can't stay in that foster home anymore. Macaroni and cheese, bunk beds, basic cable, no Football Sunday pass.

  Lawrence 'Crusher' Crock : Animals.

  Artemis Crock : Tryouts are Wednesday. Coach Morrison's coming in from Lincoln.

  Lawrence 'Crusher' Crock : The Big Ten. Sweetie, you are gonna crush it.

  Paula Brooks : You're gonna be great.

  Artemis Crock : I don't know.

  Lawrence 'Crusher' Crock : Hey, look at me. You're the best in the state.

• Cindy Burman : Rough day?

  Artemis Crock : What do you want?

  Cindy Burman : What happened with that recruiter, that is his loss. But I have another team you can join; one your parents were a part of.

  Courtney Whitmore : [approaching the stands looking for Pat]  Are you kidding me? The Crocks?

  Artemis Crock : [seeing a SWAT tactical team surrounding her parents]  No!

  Lawrence 'Crusher' Crock : [she runs toward them]  Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. What are you doing, honey?

  Artemis Crock : [tackling one]  Stay away from them! They did nothing wrong! They did nothing wrong, you hear me?

  [as her teammates pull her off, she realizes it's just Courtney] 

  Artemis Crock : [looking around]  What? Where'd they go?

  Lawrence 'Crusher' Crock : Well, that really got away from her, didn't it?

• Artemis Crock : So then you're not innocent? Why didn't you tell me before?

  Lawrence 'Crusher' Crock : Well, we were going to, but...

  Paula Brooks : But you have your own dreams.

  Lawrence 'Crusher' Crock : Yeah. I mean, you're gonna be the first female quarterback in the history of college football! My girl is.

  Artemis Crock : But the only reason I did so well today was because you guys were here.

  Lawrence 'Crusher' Crock : No, no. The reason that you crushed it today is because of you.

  Paula Brooks : You've got a future now. We're not gonna let anything get in the way of that. Including us.
