A Super Thriller with a Cultural Message
junitunes4 May 2024
I had heard about this up and coming moving Day Labor. It is suspenseful and kept you at the edge. I wanted to add the acting was very good. In watching the movie I found myself learning alot as the movie continued to educate me more regarding the importance of migrants trying to survive by taking on work as a Day Laborer. Praying that they survive the day and get to go home to their loved ones was eyewakening for me. I hope this movie inspite of just being a thriller will also have the affect on others who see it, and take away a realization that we must have more compassion and love rather than hate for any under privilege culture and take the time and learn. We are all the same people. I really loved the movie and the message. Great inspiration!!!

Truthful Depiction of a Veteran Suffering from PTSD, Anxiety and Depression.
rbylakx20 May 2024
I did not know what to expect when I first saw this film. Thought the trailer was interesting enough for me to go rent it. I was pleasantly surprised how much I liked it. Terrific action scenes, very topical story line, and the acting from everyone was very good. Especially the lead Army veteran guy, Derrick Reyes. All throughout the film he looked like he was mentally going through something, reliving past traumas from his time in service, just like I have seen many veterans in real life who suffer from severe PTSD, depression, anxiety, paranoia and other things. It was very real and kept me wanting to see more, and see how he survives.

The bad guys were over the top bad guys who in their mind had legitimate reasons for what they were doing. The Latino men being hunted were all good characters. It was good to see how the bad guys got it in the end.

I really liked this movie. Recommended it to some of my military friends. #Veterans #ArmyStrong.

Rock Your World 90 min thriller
melindayork18 May 2024
This film can rock your world! A riveting, powerful, painful to watch at times, controversial action packed, scary thriller about a Latino American veteran (day laborer) dropped off by mistake and hunted for sport at a private ranch in Texas.

This is an emotional roller coaster with a perfectly chosen and excellent cast. They exhibit the deep hatred, revenge and fear that burns right through the screen. Danny Arroyo, is star lead who's screen presence is engaging and undeniable. He turns in a stellar, suave, cool, convincing and tense performance from start to finish.

This is a solid showcase of his dramatic/emotional range coupled with his physical capabilities (fight scenes) along with a natural charisma that has us rooting for him!

Danny, along with talented cast mates, display the compelling message behind the screenwriters intent. We are confronted by a complex and thought provoking series of scenes that find us hating the hate, and learning & identifying with a whole other reality. It causes us to think hard about what we are witnessing and can cause you to consider your own personal beliefs. A 90 minute captivating, and gut wrenching film. Terrific Talent! Watch it and see how you feel.

Fantastic film!

Day Labor is a drama, a whirl-wind, and a nail-biter of a film! A movie so well directed and written I never thought once of getting up for a snack. The picture holds your attention with fierce curiosity. I kept wanting to know what happens next! The acting is superb! Stand out Gary Cairns is the brother with a conscience. Cairns struggles with going along with his blood thirsty family throughout the film until his character pivots, making a sudden shift allowing his true heroic nature take over! Gary Cairn's acting genius is his superior, understated, way of conveying a character. He looks like a nice guy but don't underestimate Cairns in the beginning of the movie. The brother Cairns seems closest to is actor, Corin Nemac. Like brothers can be in real life Cairns and Nemac are as different as night and day. Corin Nemac is brilliant. The two men work well together and I hope to see them in another film. Directing is excellent! R. Ellis Frazier does a great job of keeping each scene tied up, exciting and psychologically intense. Scenery was perfect. Nothing like finding yourself on a massive ranch in hostile territory while being hunted. Amy Johnston is a beautiful badass and exceptional actress as a detective out to find her ex, Danny Arroyo, an American Veteran caught up in an unlikely position. Louis Mandylor plays a Sheriff with stage 5 creep factor, hitting on Amy Johnston. Bad idea! Johnston is like a dog with a bone, nothing will stop her from finding Arroyo. Kudos to the writers! Quick dialogue, great pacing. Day Labor is a 10!
