Disney Star, Sony Sports and Viacom 18 are going to be in a three-way battle for the India bilateral media rights bid, whose cycle runs from September 2023 to March 2027. As per a report in Cricbuzz, the media rights auction is set to take place on August 31. It added that other entities such as Zee and FanCode along with two other multinational companies, Google and Amazon, did not participate in the technical rights bid held on Monday.
“Monday was the designated day for the submission of technical bids, during which the regulator evaluates whether the participants satisfied the criteria outlined in the Invitation To Tender (Itt). Therefore, the technical bid serves as the first step towards participation in the forthcoming online auction,” added the report.
The India media rights broadcast cycle, also including the domestic calendar, commences with eight matches against Australia – three ODIs in September and five T20Is in November this year.

Uri Singer has obtained the rights “Invitation to a Beheading,” a surrealist and politically charged work by Vladimir Nabokov, the author of “Lolita.”
Singer has been carving out a niche for himself by developing literary classics into potential films. He recently obtained the rights to Kurt Vonnegut’s “Hocus Pocus” and Don DeLillo’s “The Silence.” He is also producing another DeLillo adaptation “White Noise,” which is currently filming with Noah Baumbach directing Adam Driver and Greta Gerwig. Singer is also producing “The King of Oil,” set at Universal, with John Krasinski’s Sunday Night, with Matt Damon attached to play the lead role based on the book “The King of Oil” by Daniel Amman, adapted by Joe Shrapnel and Anne Waterhouse.

AMC Networks made some big announcements during its turn at the Television Critics Association summer press tour on Tuesday.
AMC Studios today announced it will open a writers’ room to explore a potential new series based on Anne Rice’s Lives of the Mayfair Witches for AMC+ and AMC.
This would be the second series in an expanding Anne Rice universe, following the recent greenlight of Interview with the Vampire, set for a 2022 premiere.
Esta Spaulding and Michelle Ashford are both on as writers and executive producers of the series, Spaulding, who has an overall deal with AMC Studios, would serve as showrunner if the series was greenlit.
The series will focus on an intuitive young neurosurgeon who discovers that she is the unlikely heir to a family of witches.
As she grapples with her newfound powers, she must contend with a sinister presence that has haunted her family for generations.
