Monolith Productions announced a contest called "Name Your Fear" on June 4, 2007 to find a new name for the sequel. Contestants had until June 22 to submit a name, after which three finalists would be chosen with fans being able to choose their favorite. A special website was created for this contest. On August 3, 2007, voting was opened to the public for the three naming finalists, which were Dead Echo, Project Origin and Dark Signal. Voting closed on August 10, 2007. On September 6, 2007 the winner was announced as Project Origin. On the games official website the reasons for Project Origin being chosen were explained.
In the elementary school level at the entrance there is a message board announcing some parent teacher conferences. Four of the letters have fallen off to the bottom part of the sign. The four letter are A-L-M-A or Alma the main antagonist in the game.
One of the people who help you through the game has taken the alias code name Snake Fist. Later on in the game you come across a theater with a "Die Hard" type action movie called Snake Fist IV. Which implies he got his name from the action movie.
The person featured on the Snake Fist IV movie posters in the game is F.E.A.R.'s director, Nathan Hendrickson.
