"You Really Are the Monster They Say You Are!"
richardchatten14 November 2021
Although this premiere episode of Season Three is named for the Mad Hatter no one is madder or badder than Alice - described as "a full-blown lunatic" - making a welcome return to continuing to pull the strings, even while currently incarcerated like Hannibal Lector.

Now that she's out and centre stage again and once more putting that "mind of a psychopath" to creative use Watch Out World!

Good season premiere

Although I felt like the premiere wasn't as good as last season. I was still entertained by the Mad Hatter's presence and it was awesome to see Luke as Batwing again. Alice is still Alice don't know if that's good or bad tbh. And we get to know more about Ryan's birth mother, wonder what caused her to abandon Ryan. Also my girl is getting stronger and stronger as Batwoman I love that.

I CANT BELIEVE THEY GREENLIGHT THIS Worst script. Just cancel this thing. Hope that HBOmax will reboot it with good script, better story, specially no political agenda.

Solid premiere

Warning: Spoilers
It was quite interesting. They established the premise for the season, the new character Renee Montoya, the truth about Ryan's mom and the villain was entertaining. Besides, there were some emotional moments were done. Mad Hatter casually ordering someone to kill his friend, and the desperation of that man when forced to obey were scary. And Alice was perfect, Rachel is a really good actress.

The only thing a little off was the subplot with Luke, but the suit was very good.

And this is not a critique to the show but to the character, lying to Alice was a very shady thing that Ryan did.

Also, jcome14, if you read this; They could not physically restrain the Hatter as soon as they were free of his control because they established that only the Hatter could undo his previous commands. Therefore, Mary would keep killing the man and the people would be sit in their places for ever. Besides, it was too risky, before while they moved to reach him he had time to order things, for instance, to order everyone to kill the 3 of them. And when they put the thingy that prevented him to give new commands, the three people were separated. And they needed Mary to resurrect the man, so they could not restrain her.

Terrible contrived ending.

Warning: Spoilers
Awful ending. A hitherto unknown authority figure "forces" Batwoman to stop gathering up the lost trophies so that she can, er, gather up the lost trophies ?? But she must do it in partnership with Alice, having somehow had enough authority to have a life sentenced Arkham inmate released in the space of five minutes.

Utter garbage.

Try harder. Get better writers!

The rest of the episode was reasonable enough. Dealing with a new Mad Hatter, but having the tools to deal with his mind control was a good plot. Script was not the best, but most fans are willing to give a pass on the odd bad bit of writing.

We all know Alice is the best character in the show, but sometimes you have to let a good character go before you can let another one in. Forever crowbarring her back into the narrative is just getting tiresome and will eventually ruin the character all together

Let's hope the rest of the season is not driven by a non believable conceit where Batwoman is somehow forced into doing things by a stroppy unknown authority figure.

Bad, bad, bad

Warning: Spoilers
I thought it started out well with a new bad guy and good intro seen to his powers, that was quickly thrown in the toilet. Why when the good guy's were able to protect themselves from his control did they not instantly take the guy out 3 on 1. It was a very week premis for getting Alice out of prison. And in what world would they allow there friend to chop up her professor when they could have physically stopped her. Also a little preachy about the medical system, once is enough but not as bad as usual. I could have let it go if the story was entertaining.

Shocking gruesome graduation

Shocking gruesome graduation Mentioned in the plot was perhaps an understatement. I just wished I hadn't seen it. My rating reflects my shocking reaction.
