The experiment supposedly demonstrating the Coriolis Effect of the Earth's rotation is an error. In reality, the Coriolis Force is far too weak to have any significant effect on something as small as the pan used, especially so close to the Equator, and is only really noticeable with weather patterns such as hurricanes. Furthermore, the experiment showed the directions of the draining water to be the opposite way round to what they ought to have been.
