Exclusive: TNT is developing Unknown, a one-hour drama based on the 2011 Liam Neeson action-thriller boxoffice hit. Directed by Jaume Collet-Serra and produced by Dark Castle Entertainment, the film told the story of Martin Harris (Neeson), a doctor who lost his memory after a car accident and woke up to find his identity taken and the target of mysterious assassins.
Collet-Serra is attached to direct and executive produce the series, which would pick up after the events of the film and follow a new lead character that is thrust into a mind-bending adventure full of twists and turns.
Sean Finegan (Free Fall) will write the pilot and will executive produce. Karl Gajdusek (Stranger Things) and Speed Weed (Arrow) will serve as executive producers and showrunners. Ethan Erwin, Alex Mace and Hal Sadoff of Dark Castle are also executive producers, alongside Erik Olsen (The Dirt) and Neeson.
TNT has had recent success with series based on movies.

So, by my count, the indefatigable Dwayne Johnson is essentially booked straight through to the year 2025, or thereabouts – and he’s still adding projects to his mighty slate. With starring roles announced on what seems to be a weekly basis, the actor is also working to expand his presence behind the camera – and the newly planned Son Of Shaolin will fall into that category, with Dwayne Johnson on board as producer.
The film will be based upon the yet-to-be-published graphic novel of the same name, written by Jay Longino. Since this source material has not yet hit the stands, plot details are scarce. But, as per Deadline, it will tell “a contemporary Kung-Fu story that intertwines Shaolin mythology with many of the current issues faced by teens growing up in gentrifying neighbourhoods.” Author Longino will also write the script, but the director’s chair apparently remains vacant at this time.

Christian Slater has signed on to USA Network’s upcoming hacker thriller serial, Mr. Robot. Nabbing the titular role, Slater will topline his first show after his star turn in ABC’s Mind Games.
Before we address who exactly Slater’s character is, let’s take a look at the show’s premise. Thanks to Deadline, we’ve got a decent amount of detailed story information that has piqued our interest. Mr. Robot “centers on a young programmer, Elliot (Rami Malek), who suffers from a debilitating anti-social disorder and decides that he can only connect to people by hacking them. He will find himself in the intersection between a cybersecurity firm he works for and the underworld organizations recruiting him to bring down corporate America.”
It’s a surprise that there’s still such interest in hacking, especially since it’s unlikely any series or movie could ever better 1995’s Hackers.

Fifth time's the charm? USA has cast Christian Slater in the title role of its drama pilot Mr. Robot. Nope, he doesn't play an android. He wields his skills as a weapon to protect the people that he cares about. He then finds himself in the intersection between a cybersecurity firm he works for and the underworld organizations that are recruiting him to bring down corporate America. Up until The Social Network (2010), when a version of this article first appeared, David Fincher was, moderately, a creature of habit when it came to casting. Certain character actors would pop up in miniature roles in more than one film though only one star was a recurring lead (Brad Pitt). Since then it's been more of a free for all with (mostly) new faces in his films.
For Gone Girl it's all new faces but for three men who you'll miss if you blink:
Darin Cooper, Brett Leigh, and Lee Norris
Brett Leigh appears as a nervous intern (he was previously a Phoenix Club hazer in The Social Network); Lee Norris, best known for "One Tree Hill" and "Boy Meets World," shows up as "Officer Washington" after a gig in Zodiac; and Darin Cooper, who played one of Facebook's lawyers in The Social Network, returns as "Moustached Man"

The new Fox Batman prequel series Gotham divided both critics and fans with last week’s premiere, but I actually liked it a lot and am excited to see where the show goes from here. As I said in my review, the pilot wasn’t perfect, but it effectively laid the groundwork for what could prove to be an excellent series - if the writers and showrunners play their cards right.
The second episode, titled “Selina Kyle,” airs tonight, but a new promo for the rest of the season has already been released. The trailer clocks in at a hefty two minutes and thirty seconds, and it fills each second of screentime with cool Easter eggs and exciting gems for diehard Bat-fans.
Most notable among them are the appearances of serial killer Victor Zsasz (played by Parenthood and The Forgotten actor Anthony Carrigan), up-and-coming mob boss Sal Maroni (Dexter‘s...

It has been another short network TV run for Kyle Killen. On Thursday (March 27) afternoon, ABC pulled "Mind Games" effective immediately. That's what happens when you draw 2.06 million viewers and do a 0.7 rating among adults 18-49. Those were the numbers for this past Tuesday's airing of "Mind Games" and they proved to much for ABC to bear, especially with plenty of inventory on the shelf. On April 1 and April 8, ABC will air encores of "Resurrection" in the Tuesday 10 p.m. hour. Then, starting on April 15, ABC will premiere a new season of "Celebrity Wife Swap," with Daniel Baldwin and Jermaine Jackson claiming to be celebrities in the premiere. The yanking of "Mind Games" after only five episodes completes a dismal year of scripted programming for ABC in that Tuesday 10 p.m. slot. "Lucky 7" was the season's first cancellation after only two airings. After months of filler, ABC premiered "Killer Women" in January,...

Following a fraught bidding war, Fox TV ended up with the opportunity to bring Batman TV spin-off Gotham to the small screen. The Mentalist's Bruno Heller is developing and overseeing the series, and we're now approaching the point where the the pilot episode is heading into production. Danny Cannon is now set to be the man rolling the cameras.Cannon is no stranger to comic book properties, having been the man behind the Stallone version of Judge Dredd in 1995. He's rather reinvented himself since, however, dusting himself off from that disappointment, and from the ignominy of I Still Know What You Did Last Summer four years later, and emerging as a force in television. Most significantly, he's maintained a long association with the various CSI series, acting as executive producer across CSI, CSI: NY and CSI: Miami, and as director of several episodes, including the original pilot back in...

Alfonso Cuarón and J.J. Abrams. I’m in, whatever it is. A new TV series with telekinesis, levitation and more? The co-creator and showrunner on NBC’s new high-concept drama has left the show. Sources tell Deadline that Mark Friedman (The Forgotten, Home Of The Brave) made the decision to exit Believe, from Warner Bros Television and Bad Robot Productions, on his own accord and that the parting was agreeable. Believe’s other co-creator Alfonso Cuaron (Gravity, Children Of Men), who directed and co-wrote the pilot, will remain as executive producer alongside J.J. Abrams. The Friedman move recalls a similar situation 18 months ago in which the co-creator/executive producer/showrunner of another Bad Robot midseason drama, Alcatraz, exited ahead of that series’ launch. Elizabeth Sarnoff, who had quietly been elevated to Ep two months earlier, left that Fox drama — citing the usual “creative differences”. Abrams later said of Sarnoff, “She didn’t feel like she was the right person to run the show.” Related: NBC New Series Pickups...

Now we have a bit more to share. The most recent news is that Sienna Guillory (Resident Evil), who plays hitwoman Moore in pilot/first episode, will not be appearing in subsequent episodes of the midseason series. NBC's new drama "Believe" is parting ways with one of the stars of its pilot, Sienna Guillory.
Her exit is not, however, going to lead to recasting her role. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Guillory (the "Resident Evil" franchise) is being written out of the show after the pilot as part of a different approach in the writers' room.
"Believe," created by Alfonso Cauron ("Children of Men") and Mark Friedman ("The Forgotten"), centers on Bo (Johnny Sequoyah), a girl who has immense but undeveloped abilities, and the ex-convict (Jake McLaughlin) charged with protecting her from people who want to harm her. Guillory was set to play one of those people; her character attempts to kidnap Bo in the pilot.

When a show revolves around four women's lives and loves, as does "Mistresses," the comparisons to "Sex and the City" and "Desperate Housewives" are inevitable.
But don't look for a Carrie or a Lynette. Rather, the prime-time drama, premiering Monday (June 3) on ABC, features two very different sisters, Savi (Alyssa Milano, "Charmed") and Josslyn (Jes Macallan, "Justified"), and Savi's pals Karen (Yunjin Kim, "Lost") and April (Rochelle Aytes, "The Forgotten").
Technically, at least in the first couple of episodes, no one is a mistress, in the kept woman sense of the word.
Savi is connected to everyone else. An ambitious lawyer, she's married to a distant, rather brittle chef, Harry (Brett Tucker). When Savi's husband ignores her, she seeks attention elsewhere.
"Savi has that moment where, 'Ok, I am going to jump off the cliff right now,' and lives and has to figure out how to put the pieces back together of her life,...

We told you way back in September that NBC had picked up a pilot for production that was to be produced by J.J. Abrams and co-written and directed by Alfonso Cuarón (Children of Men, Gravity). Co-written by Mark Friedman (The Forgotten), the pilot, which was officially picked up by NBC in January and now has a title – Believe – is about a girl who has special powers which will manifest in seven years, and a man who is released from prison in order to protect her from those who are hunting her.
Casting began earlier this month with Jake McLaughlin (Savages) taking on the role of the ex-con, Tate, and newcomer Johnny Sequoyah as Bo, the girl. Excellent, the main characters are in place, that bodes well for the project. But what has us really really excited is the news, posted by TVLine late last night, that beloved Special Agent Dale Cooper,...

The CW has found one of the leads for its pilot "Blink."
Madeline Carroll ("Mr. Popper's Penguins") will play Ari, the teenage daughter of a man who's left in a "coma-like" state after an accident, Deadline reports. The father can't speak or move, but he can still see and hear and will narrate the show from his vantage point in the hospital. Carroll's character is devastated by her dad's accident and spends a lot of time with him at the hospital.
The soon-to-be 17-year-old Carroll has a host of TV guest-star credits to her name, including spots on "NCIS," "Private Practice," "Grey's Anatomy" and "Cold Case."
Other pilot castings:
- Minnie Driver will star opposite David Walton in NBC's "About a Boy," which "Parenthood's" Jason Katims is adapting. Driver will play a single mom who along with her son moves in next to Walton's stuck-in-adolescence bachelor. Katims reportedly wrote...

The actor on shyness, working with Sylvester Stallone and staying sober in Hollywood
Good morning Christian Slater! I really enjoyed you in Bullet to the Head.
[Sounding genuinely surprised] Oh, thank you! Thanks so much.
[Spoiler!] You get killed in this film. Is it fun doing death scenes?
Well, look, it's not my favourite thing. I despise it, to be honest.
Why?
Because the character is over! What's fun about that?
Well, if you had to get killed, at least you get killed by Sylvester Stallone.
That's true. Stallone's definitely a hero of mine and he's such a sweet guy, too. We shot that scene on my birthday so on the one hand I was celebrating and on the other I was dying.
Did he get you a birthday present?
Stallone gave me an opportunity [by having me co-star in the film]. That was a gift in itself.
You play a bad guy. Did you pick up tips from Gary Oldman...

As Doctor Gash mentioned this morning, it's pilot season for the TV networks, and we have four more projects to report on, all of which bring with them some tasty sci-fi flavor.
First up, NBC has greenlit "Believe," a Jj Abrams project with Oscar-nominated filmmaker Alfonso Cuarón (Children of Men). "Believe" was written by Cuarón and Mark Friedman ("The Forgotten"). It is about the unlikely relationship between a girl in possession of a great gift/powers — which will come into their own in seven years — and the man who is sprung from prison to protect her from those trying to hunt her down. Cuarón, Friedman, Abrams, and Bryan Burk are executive producing for Warner Bros. TV and Abrams’ Bad Robot. Cuarón is attached to direct.

Now here’s an intriguing combination. Alfonso Cuarón, who directed the very different, stylistic-looking Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, and wrote and directed Children of Men and 2013′s Gravity, is set to hop over to the small screen to co-write and direct a new TV pilot produced by J.J. Abrams which has been picked up for production by NBC.
According to Deadline, the untitled story will be about a girl who has special powers which will manifest in seven years, and a man who is released from prison in order to protect her from those who are hunting her. The pilot will be co-written by Mark Friedman (The Forgotten). Warner Bros. Television and Bad Robot are producing. Executive producers are Abrams, Cuarón, Friedman and Bryan Burk, with Kathy Lingg co-executive producing.

Like his Cha Cha Cha Films colleague Guillermo del Toro, "Children of Men" director Alfonso Cuarón is making a move to TV. And who better to do that with than the omnipresent J.J. Abrams? According to Deadline, Cuarón and Abrams just landed a pilot deal at NBC for an untitled drama about a girl who will come into great powers in seven years, and the former convict assigned to protect her from those who would hunt her down -- a basic set-up not unlike the central relationship in his 2006 dystopian drama, though in that case the gift possessed by the girl Clive Owen had to protect was the once ordinary one of fertility. Cuarón will direct the pilot, which he's co-write with Mark Friedman (of ABC series "The Forgotten" and film "Home Of the Brave"). The pilot will be produced by Bad Robot and Warner Bros. Josh Lucas is playing a character on NBC's new series "The Firm" that another actor -- Tom Cruise -- put his stamp on in the 1993 movie based on John Grisham's best-seller. Lucas acknowledges the oddness of the situation, and while he offers his own take on Mitch McDeere, he also wants to pay homage to Cruise's portrayal.
"It's sort of unique, because it's not like playing Hamlet. It's not like doing something that's inherently anything anyone wants to make it," Lucas tells Zap2it. "I go back to the fact that the source material is very strong and very clear" about who the character is.

Last we heard (as in, a few days ago) a big-screen remake of the ’80s romantic/action-adventure “Romancing the Stone” was gestating over at Fox with possibly big names like Gerard Butler and Katherine Heigl in the leads. Today comes news that NBC is taking their own stab at the property — as a weekly TV show. THR reports that NBC is working with 20th Century Fox Television and director Shawn Levy (“Night at the Museum” and the upcoming “Real Steel”) to adapt the 1984 movie for television, with the plot following “a woman who teams with a risk-taking adventurer as they go on weekly quests in a bid to find her missing brother.” Mark Friedman (“The Forgotten”) has been commissioned to write the pilot script, with Levy directing if he has the time. If you’re wondering, I have no idea how this proposed TV show will affect the movie remake,...

NBC has acquired the rights to adapt the 1984 Robert Zemeckis action–adventure romantic comedy, Romancing the Stone, into a TV series.
The deal with NBC comes from 20th Century Fox TV and Shawn Levy (director, Night of the Museum 1 & 2, Real Steel) and Marty Adelstein’s (producer, Hanna, Prison Break) 21 Laps Entertainment and Adelstein Productions. Mark Friedman (writer, Home of the Brave, creator/writer/producer, The Forgotten) will write the adaptation, and Levy could step in to direct if no feature film projects (like Night of the Museum 3) become available to him.
The movie followed Kathleen Turner as a romance author who sets off to save her kidnapped sister in exchange for a treasure map, but, after almost being killed by someone else who wants the map, she is saved by an American bird exporter (Michael Douglas), and the duo end up on a dangerous quest to find the treasure, save her sister,...

Talk recently of remaking 80's romantic adventure comedy classic "Romancing the Stone" as a Katherine Heigl/Gerard Butler movie sent many a shiver down one's spine.
Now Deadline reports that Fox appears to be ditching the planned remake in favour of something else entirely - a TV series for NBC.
"Night at the Museum" and "Date Night" director Shawn Levy would serve as executive producer and will likely helm the pilot of said series which "centers on a successful woman who teams up with an adventurer on weekly missions…her ultimate goal is to find her missing brother".
That differs somewhat from the film's plot of a hopeless romantic author of romance novels whose attempt to find her kidnapped sister leads her to partner and ultimately treasure seek with an adventurous bird exporter through some of the rougher areas of Colombia.

Briefly: We recently heard rumors that the remake of Romancing the Stone that was announced some time ago is still kicking, possibly with Gerard Butler and Katherine Heigl in the Michael Douglas and Kathleen Turner roles. I wouldn't bet too much on seeing that version, however. Instead, think about putting your money on a version from NBC, as the network has bought into a TV adaptation of the film that Shawn Levy may direct. Mark Friedman (The Forgotten) is writing. Deadline [1] says this version "will follow a successful but unfulfilled woman who teams with a risk-taking adventurer to take on weekly missions while on a larger quest to find her missing brother." There's no casting at this point, and this could die off just as easily as it could take off. But still, for some reason I expect this one to go farther than the film remake.
