"Russel Fish: The Sausage and Eggs Incident" is an American live action short film from 2009, so this one will have its 10th anniversary soon and maybe it already did depending on when you read this review. It runs for 8.5 minutes and the main reason it is known today is because it stars Chris Colfer as the title character and it was his first and only acting job before he became a huge star on Glee and he was 18 when this one here was made. Writer and director Terence Heuston never made it really big and as of today he is probably more known for being an actor, especially for one film. I'm pretty sure without Colfer this one here would also have been forgotten by now. None of the other cast members seem familiar. And the story is not too good either as this is about a boy who has to pass a sports exam in order to receive his admission for a prestigious university. So he and his buddy try their best to overcome the hurdle, a mean classmate and a strict teacher. Like in Glee, bullying is a big subject here too. I wish I could say anything more positive about this film we have here in the face of the recent death of another male core cast member from the successful series, but I really wasn't impressed by this film at all. It's not as funny as it wants to be and the acting and script are really mediocre overall. With the eggs and sausage reference at the very end it becomes cringeworthy and even worse they actually used this in the title why oh why. As embarrassing as simply naming the character fish to have another food reference in the already embarrassing title. Unless you are a huge Colfer/Hummel fan, don't watch this one. 4 out of 10 is still on the generous side. Not recommended.
