There are many great shows in this world and many of them get canceled unjustly, and they don’t get to finish the story they were trying to tell what’s even sadder is that sometimes they end on a note that needs some type of resolution and if it’s a Netflix original series there is even a higher chance of that. So, today we are making a list of every Netflix original series that was canceled in 2024.
Obliterated (2023)
Obliterated is a carefree action comedy-drama series created by Jon Hurwitz, Hayden Schlossberg, and Josh Heald. The Netflix series released its first and only season in November 2023 and it followed the story of an elite joint special-operations team trying to stop a deadly terrorist network from blowing up Las Vegas. Warner Bros. Discovery may have kickstarted the trend when it traded Batgirl for a tax-write off and began quietly removing Max Originals, but content purges aren’t just a David Zaslav thing anymore. Paramount+ recently removed 10 Nickelodeon original series, including Blue’s Clues & You, Are You Afraid of the Dark?, It’s Pony, Middlemost Post, Ollie’s Pack, Ryan’s Mystery Playdate, Santiago of the Seas, That Girl Lay Lay, Big Nate, and the 2021 Rugrats reboot.

The latest content cuts at Paramount’s streamer could be a sign that a deal to acquire its parent company may be drawing close.
It’s been a rough year for Paramount’s reputation as a provider of kids content. In February it was announced that the company was laying off the entire staff of its kids streaming service Noggin ahead of that streamer’s eventual shutdown, and now reports are circulating that Paramount+ has removed 10 Nickelodeon original series as part of its ongoing attempts to rationalize the content on the streaming platform.
Shows removed include 2021’s “Rugrats,” 2019’s “Are You Afraid of the Dark?” and others. In its fourth quarter 2023 10-k filing, Paramount indicated such content cuts were coming. Paramount Global may be trying to streamline Paramount+ to make itself more attractive to buyers. Get 30 Days Free $5.99+ / month paramountplus.com

Paramount+ has purged 10 Nickelodeon original series, following the removal of other Nick titles from the platform over the past several months.
The list includes the Blue’s Clues revival Blue’s Clues & You! (2019), Are You Afraid of the Dark? (2019-2022), It’s Pony (2020-2022), Middlemost Post (2021-2022), Ollie’s Pack (2020), Ryan’s Mystery Playdate (2019-2023), Santiago of the Seas (2020), That Girl Lay Lay (2021-2024) as well as the made-for-Paramount+ Big Nate (2022) and Rugrats (2021), a reboot of the popular original series, which ran from 1991 to 2004..
This is said to be part of content removal addressed in the most recent Q4 earnings call on February 28. Targeting Nick titles is a little surprising as, according to parent Paramount Global, the network’s Kids & Family content consistently ranks among the most watched and re-watched programming on Paramount+.

The live-action TV series based on the Goosebumps books written by R.L. Stine that was released through the Disney+ and Hulu streaming services last October (read our review Here) drew inspiration from five of Stine’s Goosebumps stories. More Stine stories will be brought to the screen in Goosebumps season 2 – and just last night, it was revealed that Friends‘ David Schwimmer has joined the cast and is set to play a character named Anthony (described as “a former botany professor and divorced parent of teenage girls who is juggling the responsibilities of overseeing an aging parent while having his kids for the summer“). Now Deadline has learned that the new season’s cast of young series regulars consists of Sam McCarthy (Dead to Me) and Jayden Bartels (Side Hustle) as fraternal twins Devin and Cece, respectively; Elijah Cooper (That Girl Lay Lay) as Cj; Galilea La Salvia (Party Down) as...

Nickelodeon grew a rep for quietly canceling shows, but this week, they gave advance notice that a popular show will end after 46 episodes. Sometimes, viewers call for shows to get canceled. For example, in 2020 lots of voices rose on Twitter (Now X) and called for the cancelation of Paw Patrol. With the latest cancellation, fans seem a bit unhappy.
Nickelodeon Cancellations And Renewals
Often, shows will just fade quietly away. And other times, new content arrives. Whether it’s the ratings, or just random is sometimes confusing. Instead of canceling Paw Patrol, it ran on and in 2022, another spinoff came that focused on Rubble. Then in 2023, more renewals came with shows like Are You Afraid of the Dark?, Big Nate, and others.
Are You Afraid Of The Dark? Nickelodeon
2024 brought less happy news about Nickelodeon. Quiet On Set: The Dark Side Of Kids TV revealed that a toxic workplace existed there for two decades.

The second season of Goosebumps at Disney+ has cast David Schwimmer in a lead role.
The Emmy-nominated Friends star will head the cast of the show, based on R.L. Stine’s hugely popular series of books. Disney+ renewed Goosebumps for a second season in February, opting to turn the show into an anthology rather than continuing the story from season one.
Following Schwimmer’s casting, Disney+ announced that Ana Ortiz (Ugly Betty, Love Victor), Sam McCarthy (Dead to Me), Jayden Bartels (Side Hustle), Elijah Cooper (That Girl Lay Lay), Galilea La Salvia (Party Down) and Francesca Noel have also joined the series.
The season two logline reads, “Teenage siblings discover a threat stirring, triggering a chain of events that unravel a profound mystery. As they delve into the unknown, the duo find themselves entangled in the chilling tale of four teenagers who mysteriously vanished in 1994.”

Nickelodeon’s Super Bowl booth is going to get really animated on Game Day.
The Paramount Global kids-focused outlet plans to offer a simulcast of Super Bowl Lviii aimed at children and families while corporate cousin CBS broadcasts the more traditional version of the pigskin extravaganza. And while Nickelodeon will rely on sportscasters Nate Burleson and Noah Eagle to call the game, it will also tap the expertise of SpongeBob SquarePants and Patrick Star. Those two cartoon mainstays — voiced by Tom Kenny and Bill Fagerbakke, respectively — will help relay the action to viewers during Nickelodeon’s Super Bowl event.
Others will also join in. Sandy Cheeks, voiced by Carolyn Lawrence, will hold forth from the sidelines, while Larry the Lobster, voiced by a different actor, Mr. Lawrence, will provide live commentary. Dora the Explorer, voiced by Diana Zermeño, and Boots, voiced by Asher Colton Spence, will explain penalty calls when they arise.

The Super Bowl is getting slimed.
CBS Sports and Nickelodeon will produce a second telecast of Super Bowl Lviii in February 2024, bringing its kid-focused coverage and green ooze in tow. The Nick telecast will mark the first time a Super Bowl has had an alternate presentation; CBS, Nick’s Paramount Global sibling, will carry the main broadcast.
While it’s a big step up from the previous games Nick has aired, the alternate telecast isn’t new. Nickelodeon has provided alternate feeds of wild-card playoff games after the 2020 and 2021 seasons and a Christmas Day regular-season game last year — the latter of which produced a viral moment of SpongeBob character Patrick Star (voiced by Bil Fagerbakke) roasting Denver Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson after an interception. Nick also airs a weekly highlights show, NFL Slimetime, during the season, and another Christmas game is on tap for the coming season.

In 2020, 18-year-old Billie Eilish’s alternative pop album that was created in her Los Angeles bedroom helped her become the youngest act to sweep the top four categories at the Grammys.
A year later, the pop-rock sound of Olivia Rodrigo made her a global superstar and the poster child for modern teen angst. That same year, fellow 17-year-old The Kid Laroi topped the charts with his Justin Bieber-assisted banger “Stay.” And in 2022, Yahritza Martínez, of the trio Yahritza y Su Esencia, was 14 when she wrote “Soy el Único,” which became a No. 1 Latin hit and reached No. 20 on the pop charts.
And let us not forget about the phenomenon of “Baby Shark.”
Young talent has always been a good investment for the music industry. It’s an area that Republic Records — home to Taylor Swift, The Weeknd and Ariana Grande — is focusing on with the launch of a children’s division.

In terms of the sheer number of entertainment options, there’s never been a better time to be a kid. But it’s also never been more work.
The average 8-year-old in 2013 could turn on one of a few TV channels and park there for an hour or two, and maybe watch a few movies or shows on Netflix or Hulu (in the not-very-likely event their families had an account). YouTube was for teenagers and adults.
A decade later, an 8-year-old can choose from hundreds of titles across a host of streaming platforms and thousands of YouTube channels — as well as an age-protected YouTube Kids app — to say nothing of TikTok and other social media. During a panel on the future of Pasifika storytelling held in downtown Los Angeles Thursday evening by the Pasifika Entertainment Advancement Komiti, Peak co-founder and executive director Kristian Fanene Schmidt proposed a question to the participants: Should the AA be separated from the Pi in Aapi? The answer regarding Asian American and Pacific Islander representation in Hollywood is as complicated as the enduring fight for greater pan-Pacific presence onscreen, the panelists noted, though the undercurrent of the hesitant responses was indeed “yes.”
“Last night at the Writer’s Guild meeting there was an Asian writer who walked up on the question side and said, ‘I’m Asian, I’m an Asian American writer, and it’s Asian American month, and I screamed out, ‘What about the PIs?’” recalled Freddie Gutierrez, a writer for Nickelodeon’s That Girl Lay Lay, who hails from Guam. “She looked and she just kept on going.
