What a season. What an ending.
nyxstrix31 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
The season as a whole was the best yet, but those last few minutes! Silver paid to have the tournament fixed then had Kreese arrested for what he (Silver) did to Stingray? Miguel's going to Mexico to find his father and Johnny's going after him? Robby finally (hopefully) letting go of his anger toward Johnny? And if that wasn't enough, let's throw in Daniel and Chozen teaming up!!! My mind is completely blown and I already can't wait for Season 5!

Season 4 is the Best Season Since Season 1!
spasek2 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Finally, we got some wisdom back into the series in Season 4. New lines have been drawn and, of course, there's always a bigger fish!

The way that Terry Silver was brought back was nothing short of masterful, especially when you begin to wonder if Silver is really going to be as bad as he was in Karate Kid III. By the season's conclusion, you quickly realize who has really been pulling the strings.

Once more, the relationship between Daniel and Johnny is tenuous at best; two teachers who believe that their way is best. What they fail to realize is that any true teacher empowers their students to find their own way.

Bruce Lee may have said best: Take what is useful. Discard what is not. Add what is uniquely your own. And while we may expect a bit more wisdom from Daniel, he's often as misguided and ego-driven as Johnny is. Just in a different way.

I'm glad that writers decided to pull back on the reins a bit. No more crazy, all-out brawls in which teens are fighting constantly without tiring and outldandish scenes of kids being thrown through windows or adults smashing kids' knees. Although I still find myself having to suspend my disbelief when every single new student picks up karate within a few days and automatically attains an almost master level of proficiency. Who knew it was that easy, right?

What we get in this season is a return to character and story rather than focusing on topping the last fight. And it not only works, it works well.

We finally delve a bit more into Tory's sordid past and we find that she has an unlikely ally. Miguel sees Daniel as being as good of a teacher as Johnny, but Miguel sees Johnny as a father-figure. Can Johnny realize this and help to fill that void? And Sam begins to realize that you have to eventually break away and do what works for you.

What continues to make the series work is that it's pretty much all grey. What I mean is that each protagonist is also an antagonist, from Daniel and Johnny, down to Sam, Miguel, and Robby. A surprising new twist sees Anthony LaRusso finally getting some screen time, though perhaps not in the way we might think.

And the last five minutes of this season will have you cringing...cringing that you have to wait a whole year for Season 5 with a new (and awesome!) addition to the show.

Best season finale so far
lukathehunter31 December 2021
Do you remember how S3 ended and we all waited what will come out of it? Well all I'm saying is there are so many tense, opened points that the worst part is, we all need to do a Miyagi thing and be patient for S5 now.

I'll be honest and first few episodes did not impress me, they lost all the tension built in previous season and there wasn't enough "Johnny humor". But boy did the season culminating with this episode redeemed itself! It shows great character build/grow and I can't wait to see what will happen next. Don't read, just watch it!

Didn't see THAT coming!
darkjediknightmare1 January 2022
I just watched the entire fourth season and didn't see the twist at the end coming! Now we just have to wait for season five to see how everything plays out. I won't spoil the very end for you, but Daniel's going to have some major help next season and it's going to be epic.

Perfect Ending
mycannonball14 January 2022
What a perfect ending to a great season, and what a great setup for what will surely be a fantastic season 5. After a somewhat weak start to the season, season 4 turned out to be a my second-favorite season (right behind the brilliant season 1).

Best Finale! Best Season!
zcielle261 January 2022
Honestly, I am kind of scared to watch season 4 because of how good Season 1, 2, 3 were. Not 100% sure they can keep up the pace of getting it better season after season. But man! Was I wrong!! Season 4 is the best Season yet and what an amazing season finale! Can't wait for Season 5!

Great season especially for fans of the films
Zedyeti2 January 2022
Even if they turned Miguel into the millennial stereotype and Daniels son is a loser, this was a fun season that had me laughing. I was hoping mike Barnes was gonna show up so fingers crossed for season 5 haha.

One heck of a season
Kingslaay5 January 2022
I am not a fan of waiting but Season 4 was worth the wait. I was excited when I heard Terry Silver would be returning and so glad the writing was decent for him. It wasn't a corny entry, Terry wanted to learn from his mistakes whereas Kreese was all about revenge and proving something. Great final tournament, new characters and the twists in the final episode made things interesting. I like how this show now and then reminds us that they're not some cheap lazy writing show or kid friendly only when they drop a few swear words and push the boundaries. Good job, now the long wait for Season 5.

Love the twists ... sets up the coming season 5 perfectly
vfwbsa_cor4 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I wanted Kreese to get his, but this was still from a strange angle ... and Chozen as the deus ex machina AT THE VERY LAST SECOND sets up Season 5 as either the PERFECT ending to this overarching homage to the Miyagi gospel or the confirmation that evil (personified as the Terry Silver version of Cobra Kai) will always triumph.

If we have to wait another entire year for Season 5, I WILL BE UNBELIEVABLY ANGRY ... BUT ... I won't miss it FOR ANYTHING.

Best so far
Calicodreamin2 January 2022
Best episode of season four by far, unfortunately there's a lot of filler to weed through to enjoy the good parts. This whole season was focused on regressing characters instead of developing them.

Johnny & Robby
OnlyTheFinest24 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
After sharing a heartfelt moment, It seems like Johnny and Robby are finally on their way to reconciling, but Miguel leaving and Johnny going to find him might lead to some drama when Robby finds out. I just hope that the writers don't make Robby go back to hating Johnny, if they do I'm gonna lose my sh#t.

A poor end to a poor season.
matt-r-jones2 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
The writing has become a cheesy cliche. The characters switch between each dojo and character traits at the drop of a button. Terry Silver became a characture (much like his original appearance). No good at all.

A brilliant finale to a great season
Dannyboi942 January 2022
I have to say, this finale was one of my all time favourite TV finales, it was brilliant. The acting, writing fight choreography, everything was on point. I loved where this season took all the characters, from the dramatic storyline of Miguel, to the conflicted Sam, to the increasingly more interesting Tory, who in my opinion is the best character this season. What an arch her character is going through. I would say it is similar to Hawk/Eli, who is also really good this season. Every character in this show have their time to shine, even the new kid, Kenny.

One of the best things about this episode, and this season in general is Terry Silver. He is as crazy here as he was back in Part 3. His sneaky backstabbing was on point, and I loved seeing Thomas Ian Griffith bring back that energy at the final moments of this episode.

This season ended on a high note, with some very emotional scenes. I will give credit to Tanner Buchanan, who plays Robbie. I've never given much thought to his performance, but he gives his all in one of the most powerful scenes in the series in this episode, that made me swallow a lump.

I'm looking forward to season 5, and by from they was filming is going on, we could expect that at the end of the year. Cobra Kai really is a fantastic TV show that respects the past and present.

10/10.

Ending is the best and what I hoped would happen
sistabessy1 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I was so happy Robbie wised up, that was my hope he would have an epiphany. Started season pretty slow, but was worth it for the end. Terry Silver, yuck in the 80's and more yuck now. Not needed, and I hate Kreese but would rather have him than Terry Silver who is insane. Tori and Robbie so cliché and unnecessary. Teen Drama!

I cannot wait for season 5 to launch, it is already wrapped.

Incredible episode
terrylarosa2 January 2022
The suspense is nonstop since some of the matches are unpredictable. Great fights and slow mo that are expertly filmed. Some surprising and not surprising character turns. Why Larusso and Lawrence aren't aware that using all your training and talents to win can improve your chances at winning is mystifying but of course it leads to great drama. This show is still running on all cylinders and the next season can't come fast enough. Without a doubt one of the greatest finales in the history of television.

Really great end to the worst season.
iqbalqasim-232821 January 2022
This was the worst season for me which doesn't mean it's bad. It's still really really great! Overall the season is an 8.5 or a 9/10 for me. However I feel this time round there were way too many storylines going on. They actually handled each storyline well in my opinion which shows the talent in the writing team but too much is still too much. I think you can feel this with Miguel who's ending didn't have the impact it may have had if he had more time and buildup in the beginning and middle of the story. I think the last season had the perfect amount of characters that it focused on. I think two villains, a new kid, and Danny's son also having major storylines took up time that could've been spent on more major characters. Even though I enjoyed watching the scenes with all new additions.

Worthy season
askeland891 January 2022
The ending was absolutely brilliant! Highly unpredictable, I had no idea who was gonna gonna win or lose and the fighting scenes were beautifly done with great camera work. That's not to say this season was without it's flaws. There were a few unnecessary storylines that felt forced and out of place. Namely Raymond and Kenny. This season would have made it just fine without them and I was not particularly impressed by the re-introduction of Terry Silver. Despite it's flaws it still felt like a worthy season. It had a little bit of all the stuff we've come to love. The humor was spot on and it was not lacking in action to say the least.

Shame I have to wait another year for the next season. Really looking forward to it!

Superb
ahmxii6 January 2022
This season leaves with a surprise character as usual in its style, and with some very emotional scenes. Hats off to Tanner Buchanan, who played Robbie, I've never given much thought to his performance, but he gave his all in one of the hard scenes in this episode, which made me emotional.

Without a doubt, it's one of the greatest finales.

Fourth Season Review (Summary)
TheFearmakers1 January 2022
Season Four of COBRA KAI has dropped, and for a show with mostly great seasons it's by far the worst... which is like the weakest album of a band that's had only exceptional ones...

The main problem being the main antagonist in Martin Kove's John Creese having to share the titular dojo with the USA-Channel-style co-sensei-villain from the horrendously awful KARATE KID III...

Ironically, whenever Ralph Macchio's Daniel LaRusso mentions that particular timeline (usually the failed Banzai Tree store as compared to his successful car lot) he shakes his head in sheer disbelief (almost as if, say, THE GODFATHER III were remade with Robert Duvall alongside George Hamilton)...

But the villains aren't the only problem... There are also too many new characters, as in new-new characters not including the young regulars related to the original gang...

One an extra-young nerdy African American kid given so much backstory up front it seems like an entirely different series beginning as opposed to an ongoing show sustaining...

And said kid's school bully is none other than Daniel's lazy tech-geek son, grown-out of his baby-fat and whose overall screen-time takes away from sister/daughter Amanda, holding a wan candle for Johnny's rogue son while back with "Daniel 2.0" in Miguel Diaz, all taking an equal backseat instead of their usual shotgun/co-starring supporting roles...

Meanwhile, potentially decent subplots with Daniel's wife helping bad girl Peyton List and his daughter getting strike-first-karate advice from Johnny never grow past the fetal stages...

Yet the real crime has the addictive Johnny and Daniel ODD COUPLE anti-chemistry ala William Zabka and Ralph Macchio quickly tested-out then even more quickly abandoned, and both have practically become special guest stars on their own series...

Although, THIS QUALITY FINAL EPISODE does lay groundwork for what should be a far superior followup without so many restrictions... One in particular...

The entire fourth season's an anticipation of the All-Valley Tournament, taking away from the characters being fleshed-out beyond a rather limited and narrow-scoped plot-line...

Especially fan-favorite Johnny, who's far more effective (and entertaining) avoiding and/or rebelling against what both the adults and kids have become here. Grownups.

Warning: Spoilers
I enjoyed the first two seasons, and i really hate season 3 and 4 ... is 2:2.

My impression was that the first two seasons were building an interesting story, with a clear direction and focus. It was the story of the underdog and the reform sensei, starting from nothing and winning in the end. I also enjoyed the rivalry between Johnny Lawrence and Daniel LaRusso and the conflicting philosophies of their karate dojos. The little love triangle, and adult / teenage drama was fun, and well implemented into the script. I expected for the next seasons to go even deeper in these karate philosophies; plus if they took that radical and unnecessary decision at the end of season 2 to go into Miguel's recovery and then come-back. That story would had been inspiring.

Now the story is all over the place, GOT style. The characters are locked up in an endless soap-opera routine, that can go forever, realistically until ppl are getting bored and the ratings start to fall. Old characters from the franchise are being deployed unnaturally into the show like that 'Ali', now 'Silver'. And how do you feel when you see that a character is being there just for the fans of the franchise, he / she doesn't fit into this story.

The story already had a villain, and a pretty good one, and an undefeated one, it didn't needed another one, what's the point to that?

Miguel interaction with Daniel LaRusso was just ridiculous and unwatchable. He has this permanent dumb smile on his face in every scene with Daniel, is this intended or he is just a bad actor?

Also there was no reason for him to bail the tournament, he was the defending champion, this was his moment to shine, that's why he was trained by two sensei, not to pick fights in school. One moment the karate is everything to him, the next moment ... out of the blue, karate means nothing is anti-climactic and THIS is not good writing.

There is more to say, but no point really. This Cobra Kai turned out to be disappointing, after a great start. The show has still excellent reviews and hype. It is amazing for me the things ppl find enjoyable and interesting about this season. If this was actually the first season, i wouldn't even got into it in the first place. There was ZERO karate all this season, Johnny Lawrence was reduced to a side-character, with a minimal impact on the plot ... they throw a fight for fans (per demand) between Daniel and Johnny which made no sense plot wise, but they didn't had the balls to declare a winner, and finally the finale had no drama, no-kick, no-sparks, after they build up on it like this super-event. Just saying...

Weak ending...
goldstone-771 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I don't get it. What happened to the writers for this show. Johnny's student just quits... Absolutely the worst writing I've seen making this season worst than last season. This series is progressively getting worst after the first two seasons. What a disappointment.
