- Dexter and Arthur find themselves on a collision course, as Debra unearths a shocking long-hidden truth, Rita admits her marriage to Dexter is troubled, and Batista and LaGuerta face the consequences of an ethics breach. Season Finale.
- **SPOILER ALERT!!** As the noose tightens, Arthur warns Dexter to back off. But Dexter will do anything to stop Arthur from eluding him, even if that means putting himself on the wrong side of the law. Rita acknowledges the rocky relationship she and Dexter share, but reaffirms her support. Meanwhile, Batista and LaGuerta face the consequences of their actions and now that they are married agree to move in together. Debra finally learns that Dexter is the Ice-Truck Killer's brother and tells Dexter. She then tells him he is the only constant truly good thing in her life and that she loves him. At the culmination of the episode, Dexter finally captures and kills Arthur, but then goes home to find Rita dead - apparently killed by Arthur hours earlier in the same manner as the other Trinity bathtub victims. Dexter finds Harrison at the scene of the crime. He was spared, but forced to witness Rita's murder, and is left sitting in a pool of her blood - exactly as Dexter had once been. Dexter flasheÏs back to Harry carrying him out of the shipping container where his mother was murdered as he carries his blood-soaked son out of the house.
- Open with Dexter freaking out via inner monologue that Trinity now knows his name and will have access to his family. Trinity tells Dexter he wants him to disappear from his life. Dexter nods. "Good-bye, Dexter Morgan," Trinity says before getting on the elevator.
Dexter grabs a hypodermic and tries to follow Trinity in the parking lot. Quinn holds Dexter up by pestering him about the Christine suicide. Dexter eventually punches Quinn and gets his car.
Dexter follows Trinity while Harry questions whether Dexter has a plan. Rita calls and tells Dexter she wants them to go on a honeymoon that weekend. Dexter follows Trinity on foot as he leaves a parking garage. A man whose side view mirror Dexter knocked off during the chase pulls in behind them.
Angel convinces Debra to take some time off and get some closure. He tells her Stan Beaudry is still the top suspect.
Maria and Angel discuss their new married status and plan to move in together.
On her way out of the building Debra calls Valerie. She wants her to take her to see another of Harry's old CIs.
Dexter drugs Trinity and throws him in Trinity's van. He finds Trinity has cashed out his savings and checking accounts. When Dexter pops his head out of the van he sees that the guy he hit has called the police. The Sheriff's department cops won't cut Dexter any slack, and when the guy he hit start filming him with a camera phone Dexter takes it away and smashes it. Dexter is quickly slammed to the ground and put in cuffs.
Debra arrives at the house and is startled when she recognizes the location. She flashes back to being kidnapped (In Season 1) by the Ice Truck Killer, Brian Moser. When she says the name, Valerie tells her the woman's name was Laura Moser and she had two young sons. "Dad who the hell were you?" Debra says.
Harry asks Dexter why he's sitting in a holding cell. Harry suggests Dexter's family is why he was so obsessed with killing Trinity himself and is therefore the reason he got himself in trouble. Dexter says he doesn't want the "dark passenger" to be his life anymore.
Based on past alibis, Quinn informs the department there is no way Beaudry committed some of the past Trinity killings. After a call to another police department, Angel discovers the 10-year old boy component to the Trinity cycle.
Debra researches Laura Moser and sees she had sons named Brian and Dexter.
Dexter is released after the sheriff's department called Rita. On the drive out he apologizes and says he had a "bad day." He tells her sometimes "darkness creeps in and takes over." She leaves him at his car. Dexter immediately runs to Trinity's van and finds it empty.
Cut to Trinitys house. Trinity storms in the front door and demands the family give up their jewelry and give him all their spare cash. "Someone stole something from me and I'm going to find him," Trinity tells Jonah. Jonah tells his mother this is the time for them to escape, but she is hesitant.
Debra speaks with a Deputy Chief Matthews about Laura Moser's murder in the shipping container. He confirms that Harry adopted Dexter, but thought Brian was "too damaged." Harry told Matthews he never wanted Debra (or Dexter) to know. He tells Debra to keep the information to herself.
Trinity finds an address for 'D. Morgan' online and begins laughing.
Rita now seems hesitant about their honeymoon weekend. She says she accepts his demons and doesn't believe he has to be a slave to them. Dexter isn't so sure. "I want to be that man," he says. He begs her to meet him in the Keys and they begin to make love.
Debra interviews Scott Smith, the boy Dexter rescued from Trinity. He describes for her the logo for Four Walls, Trinity's home-building organization.
Miami Metro dig up another boy at one of the Four Walls builds.
Trinity sneaks into Debra Morgan's apartment. He's furious to have the wrong location.
Dexter puts Rita and Harrison in a cab for the airport. He tells her he just has a few loose ends to tie up.
Dexter arrives at Trinity's house. Jonah tells him his dad left the night before. While asking the family about Trinity's whereabouts, a SWAT team storms the home. Dexter hides in the coffin in the garage and pretends he arrived with the police team. Dexter makes up an excuse for getting there quickly, which Debra seems to buy. Trinity's family is led away by the police in tears. As Dexter watches this, Harry tells Dexter that kind of scene is what is in store for his family.
Debra takes Dexter aside and tells him Laura Moser is his biological mother. She also knows Brian Moser is his brother. Dexter thinks to himself, "It's over," but is relieved when Debra doesn't know any more. Dexter tells her Brian wasn't her fault and she tells him she's glad he has been in her life. Dexter seems stunned he has been good for both Debra and Rita and thinks Harry might be wrong about his impact on his family. Dexter glances down and sees the old Mustang windshield Jonah smashed. He looks through Trinity's wallet and sees a receipt from a car repair place.
Cut to Trinity leaving the auto body place in the Mustang, now freshly repainted. He drives out of Miami with a smile on his face.
Angel tells the rest of the department Trinity's family had no idea what their husband and father was up to. Brass brings the FBI in to take over the case. The feds admit to Debra they should have listened to Lundy earlier and their delay cost Lundy his life.
We see Trinity driving along an empty road later that night. Smoke begins pouring from under the hood and Trinity pulls over to realize his oil cap is missing. Dexter sneaks out from behind the car, slams the hood on Trinity's head and takes him to the ground.
Cut to Trinity tied up on Dexter's slab with the pictures of his victims covering the walls. Trinity says "God led you to me." Dexter takes his blood sample: "Look at you," Trinity says. "I never took pride in what I did." Dexter says he wants to be better than Trinity, to which Trinity responds "you can't control the demon inside of you anymore than I could control mine." Dexter asks: "Did you ever actually try?" Dexter says he is good for his family. Trinity responds: "You're like a child, you dream of a heaven you'll never see. This isn't your doing, this is God's plan." Trinity adds: "It's already over. It's already over." Dexter turns on Trinity's toy train and his favorite song before killing him with the claw end of the hammer. "Now it's over," Dexter says.
We see Dexter toss Trinity's body parts into the water. He wonders whether Rita is seeing the same Moon he is. He thinks he is ready to embrace his family and one day be rid of the dark passenger.
Dexter returns home to pack for the honeymoon. He has a message on his phone. Rita forgot her ID and had to run home and get it to be able to fly. She will be on a later flight and can't wait to see him. Dexter calls Rita and hears it ringing in her purse in the kitchen.
Then Dexter hears Harrison crying and runs to the bathroom. Harrison is sitting on the bathroom tile in a pool of blood. Dexter turns and sees Rita, dead in a bathtub full of her blood. He closes her eyes and picks up Harrison "Born in blood, both of us," Dexter's inner monologue says. "Harry was right. I thought I could change what I am, keep my family safe. But it doesn't matter what I do, what I choose.
"I'm what's wrong -- This is fate."
