Irish Cinematographer Mark McCauley (No Go: The Free Derry Story) was last night awarded the Guild of TV Cameramen's Award for Excellence for his work on 'Ross Kemp Returns to Afghanistan'. The series is the follow up to the original 'Ross Kemp in Afghanistan', the Sky One documentary series that was fronted by actor Ross Kemp (Eastenders) and followed British soldiers fighting in Afghanistan as part of the International Security Assistance Force (Isaf) mission against the Taliban. Both series involved Kemp and a small crew, including Mark, following troops fighting in Helmand Province, documenting their part in Operation Herrick. The second series was shot for Sky's HD channel as a Tiger Aspect/Mongoose TV production.
