The suits don’t want any Westerns, Jane Seymour says.
The actress said in an interview by The Messenger website that she recently pitched an idea for a Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman reboot.
“We’ve actually got one written, and we’ve got the whole series planned out,” Seymour said. “We just took it to one of the networks, and they said that they weren’t interested in Westerns.”
That’s even though Yellowstone and several other Taylor Sheridan stories have become giants.
“I think it’s really crazy,” she said. “There seems to be a lot of very successful Westerns, so I didn’t get that at all.”
Seymour was equally baffled by a follow-up idea, which presumably came from the same executive.
“It was pitched to me last night, believe it or not, to do Dr. Quinn as a contemporary piece,” Seymour said. “I’m going, ‘Why?’ The whole point of Dr.

Company chiefs Dan March and Klaus Zimmerman revealed the projects in an exclusive interview ahead of Dynamic’s tenth anniversary.
Dynamic, which began life as a distributor at Mipcom in 2013, has been pushing heavily into active development and production over recent years and is the lead production company behind Apple TV+ wine drama Drops of God. Its next set of scripted projects are at early development stage and don’t yet have networks attached.
The Drops of God maker has acquired rights to make a German version of Picoult’s novel Nineteen Minutes and Germany-based Giordano’s novel The Experiment, which was previously turned into a Hollywood film starring Adrien Brody and Forrest Whittaker. “These are big IP projects for the German market,” Zimmerman told Deadline.

L.A.-based Dynamic Television has acquired worldwide rights to the Swedish series “The Pirate Bay,” about the notorious pirate BitTorrent site and its co-founders Peter Sunde, Fredrik Neij, and Gottfrid Swartholm.
The six-part series, set to go unto production this fall, is being produced by Stockholm and L.A.-based powerhouse B-Reel Films for Swedish pubcaster Svt. “I Am Zlatan” helmer Jens Sjögren is directing, from a screenplay by head-writer Piotr Marciniak (“Everything I Can’t Remember”), with Patrik Gyllström (“Agatha Christie’s Hjerson”) serving as episodic writer.
The character-driven show turns on Peter, Fredrik and Gottfrid, who ended up creating in 2003 one of the world’s largest BitTorrent indexes as a reaction to big business trying to take control file sharing over the Internet.
What was intended to ignite a revolution to let information flow freely, quickly became responsible for the illegal distribution of copyrighted films, music, books and software online.

According to the HFPA, there were 211 series eligible for best TV drama in 2022, and 127 series in the running for best musical or comedy. In the race for limited series, anthology series or TV movie, there were 121 contenders. (That’s a total of 459 programs.)
On the film side, the most recent tally for best motion picture saw 170 for drama, 83 for musical or comedy, 20 in animated and 115 in the running for non-English language. Add it up, and that’s 388 films.

We've got an exclusive clip for you from Acorn TV's Harry Wild.
There is something about the British mindset that allows murder mysteries to flourish. And they come in many different tones.
Harry Wild takes the humorous approach, and it really works, especially with Jane Seymour in the starring role.
Seymour stars as Harriet "Harry" Wild, a retiring university literature professor finding herself at one of life's crossroads.
After her existence gets jolted by a mugging, her senior police detective son, Charlie, invites her to stay with him to recuperate.
Although she's reluctant at first, it might be Charlie who suffers the most when she starts interfering in a murder he's investigating.
It's a case leaving detectives baffled, but Harry sees a startling resemblance to an obscure Elizabethan play.
Digging deeper puts her face-to-face with her mugger, a troubled teen named Fergus Reid, but instead of being fearful, she recognizes his potential,...

Feisty retired literature professor Harriet “Harry” Wild “is useless at gardening or knitting or any of the things that little old ladies are supposed to do,” says Jane Seymour, the Emmy-winning actress who plays her. So Harry finds a new vocation…as a solver of murders! And though this Dublin-set whodunit is light in tone, Harry is “not Miss Marple,” teases the actress, who’s also an executive producer on Harry Wild. “She is unfiltered, very much her own person and always right.” Harry’s new life starts after she’s mugged and goes to stay with her son, Charlie (Kevin Ryan), a police detective. She’s intrigued by a murder he’s working on and detects a connection to an obscure (and fictional) Elizabethan play. Ignored by Charlie, she enlists her young thief—in actuality, “a nice young man” named Fergus—to help her ...
