Alpha's Christmas Special
pajone3913 December 2015
I doubt if anything I write contains any "Spoilers" but maybe something may surprise people but I'd hardly call what I'll be writing as a spoiler. I Remember seeing this Special for the First time back in 1993! Not 1994! It was made during the First season with the entire original American Cast. That is why Tommy was in the Green Ranger Uniform. That WAS the color of his Ranger outfit then. And Jason, Zach and Trini were also in it but via the viewing globe. But after those Three Actors left after demanding raises, There part was cut and a new ending with Rocky, Adam and Aisha was added. This is why so many people are confused why Tommy was wearing his Green Power Ranger uniform since he had become the White Ranger before meeting Rocky, Adam and Aisha. The Story is okay. I have the '94 version though I'd love to get a hold of the '93 version but I bet those scenes with Jason, Zach and Trini have been destroyed. I don't know why they did the Christmas Special like this. With the cast members only appearing at the end. I guess they just wanted to have kids and music. But this didn't go over very well so they did a better Christmas Special called 'I'm Dreaming of a White Ranger' which was much more entertaining.

I am surprised to admit this worked out nicely

Warning: Spoilers
"Alpha's Magical Christmas" is a 23-minute spin-off television special from the early years of the television show "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers", This special came out back in 1994, so only two more years and then it will have its 25th anniversary. The central character here is Alpha as you can already read in the title, apparently a robot who is a friend of the Power rangers and helps them with their quests. It's been so long since I saw stuff from the long-running show, so I just say what i think from seeing in these slightly over 20 minutes. The Power Rangers themselves were away for Christmas and we find out they are helping Santa with all the work. Seriously? Christmas Rangers? Oh well, it's all good nonetheless because this special delivers where it counts the most: the music. We have great songs sung by children's choirs for most of the time and actually at the very end some of the Rangers appear themselves in here and make up for the complete lack of Rangers in the first 17-18 minutes. I would not say this saved the film, but it elevated it. It is nonetheless a decent TV special in my opinion, just not really as much about the Power Rangers as it could have been. But like I said, the ending very much makes up for that. There will be a new Power Rangers film in 2017, so maybe more people will also take a look at the old stuff again. Promo campaigns like the one on Twitch currently are certainly helping. As for this title we have here, I recommend checking it out, not only during the holidays, but anytime of the year. I was really positively surprised and it hits all the right notes where other Christmas special of equally famous small screen shows frequently fail. Oh and a final note: It absolutely doesn't get any more stunning than the young Amy Jo Johnson. I am blown away.

A Neat Special If You Don't Mind The Continuity Errors
jeremycrimsonfox23 November 2022
Alpha's Magical Christmas is a neat holiday special for the Power Ranger franchise. In this special, Alpha 5 tells the story of how he was sad earlier that Christmas because the Power Rangers have a big job, as they are at the North Pole helping Santa get ready for his annual flight to deliver presents to the good girls and boys to the world. So Zordon arranges to have some kids over to keep him company, as the special is all about them singing Christmas songs and doing Christmas things.

Yeah, I don't get why this gets a bad rap among the Power Rangers fan base, as while it is cheesy, it is a neat special. Having been touted as not part of the MMPR continuity, it is notable for being one of the few episodes and specials not to show any fights against monsters as part of the story (as it seems even Lord Zedd takes the holiday off from trying to conquer Earth), and instead, it's all about Alpha 5. While the special does have some continuity errors compared to the show, and the story seems kiddy, it is still a great Chistmas oddity worth checking out.

Christmas with the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers
Terryfan11 December 2015
Warning: Spoilers
Now if you grew up in the 90s chances are you were a fan of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers.

But oddly enough I don't remember ever seeing this Alpha's Magical Christmas but I watched it for the first time last night and it actually pretty good and even if you're not a fan of Power Rangers you'll appreciate it for being fun

We see Alpha and children from around the world get into the Christmas spirit with Zordon helping to make Christmas special for alpha as the power rangers were helping Santa Claus It is a simple direct to video Mighty Morphin Power Rangers but still it features your favorite Christmas songs and each one is sung with amazement

During the special, Alpha and the children sing various Christmas carols, including:

Oh Christmas Tree Here We Come A-Caroling Deck the Halls Jingle Bells (sung as a reprise during the credits and serves as the special's leitmotif) Good King Wenceslas Up on the Housetop Jolly Old Saint Nicholas I'll be Home for Christmas Silent Night We Wish You a Merry Christmas

We also get see Tommy (Jason David Frank) Kimberly (Amy Jo Johnson) and Billy (David Yost) visit the command center to wish Alpha and Zordon Merry Christmas along with them singing "We wish you a Merry Christmas" which surprise me because I know Amy can sing but seeing Jason singing that was crazy

If you're a fan of Power Rangers you might want to give it a try it is pretty good actually
