Filmmaker John Edginton goes inside the Orthodox Jewish community in the UK and Israel to examine the contentious Jewish divorce laws, under which it is a husband's right to decide whether to give his wife a divorce. If he refuses, his spouse cannot remarry in the orthodox way and any children from a future relationship will be considered illegitimate. The filmmaker talks to women trapped without a divorce, including one woman whose husband has denied her a divorce for 47 years. Leading Orthodox rabbis disagree on whether this ancient biblical law can ever be changed.
