I wouldn't pay to see it again...

Well, this is supposed to be a great movie, at least, that is what the press makes you think. I went to the movies and saw this film, and actually I swear I wanted my money back. It's not a terrible movie, it's supposed to be a comedy or something like that, but I only laughed maybe twice the whole time I was sitting watching the film. The acting was horrible, it was so fake...you didn't believe anything the actors said. The actors and script are crappy, it's nothing new, it's very, very, very predictable. There are a few good thing that can be said about the movie. The location is really beautiful. I think it's a town called Ojojona. Great place to go and take pictures, and hang out for a while. The music is quite good, I really enjoyed the music. Well, what did you expect from a Honduran film. They had a good idea with the film, but they didn't execute it well. I would say, go watch it at your own risk, maybe you would enjoy it. I didn't. I would never pay to see this movie again. Lets hope Honduran film-making improves a whole lot.

Bad, such a waste of time...75 minutes of your life you won't get back

Amor y Frijoles, well I was expecting more from this movie because of the big propaganda everyone made for it, even in Chicago when Honduras national team came to play against USA. So I started to think this would be not a good movie but at least a decent independent film. The day I got to see this movie, I said to myself....why this people threw away a lot of money doing this cheesy film?, there is no story, this movie only last 75 minutes and and during the first 45 nothing different occurs. The only thing that happen during that time is the girl walking from her house to the place where she sells the baleadas, and from there back to home. The low budget is not a excuse to justify this awful movie, the acting is bad, the dialogues worse and Karen the girl who sells the baleadas who is supposed to be the pretty girl of the movie, is actually not that sexy as the main character should be, I ask myself...did the producer of this thing (I can't call it movie) have a casting to choose the actors?, I remember Almas de la Media Noche, another Honduran film, that movie wasn't an amazing master piece, but at least was an entertaining 2 hours low-budget movie, and the acting was pretty decent. I am proud to be Honduran, but I hope this awful movie will never be viewed by anyone from other country because I would feel shamed if that happen. In conclusion, I'd like to tell the makers of this movie-wanna-be, before they think in spend more money to make another mess like this, think it twice, it would be better if they donate the money to a beneficial institution.

1/10 I give 1 because there is no zero to rate it.

Didn't like it

The way of filming is superior on this film than the previous Honduran films (previous 3 attempts to commercial cinema I guess, cause its not the only stuff produced in Honduras)... but the story itself, lacked more development. I don't like the way they portrait Honduran women in the film. I mean of all the possible themes they chose that... it really turned me down. And the story could have been a little more positive in the end (too much sexual stuff, unnecessary). Actors weren't so bad as the other movies. But it's definitely a move forward in Honduras cinema. I wish they could choose more positive themes and more of Honduras, my land that's so beautiful.

I was amazed!!!

Entering Cinemark 2 weeks ago. I went in with zero expectations. Considering the rather disappointing history of Honduran Films I did not expect too much.

Must say that I was pleasantly surprised with the movie. Very well made with great technical finish and finally real cinematic audio and camera-work. This is definitely a huge step forward for Honduran Films.

The actors were a huge surprise. Real and gritty. Very natural. It was almost like they were living out their real world personalities. The story was a very simple narrative which helped the audience to stay focused. The public's reactions were really good. It was fun to see my fellow Hondurans enjoying themselves in the cinemas together forgetting all our politics etc.

My congratulations to the team at Guacamaya Films. Thank you for giving us what is probably the Best Movie made in Honduras until now.

Looking forward to more films!!!!

Estoy Feliz por este gran avance de Cine en Honduras!!! I loved the film!!! It was such a beautiful representation of Honduras!!

Amor y Frijoles is a must watch for all of you who want to see beautiful honduran locations and great talent!!! Story was very original and I hope it motivates filmmakers in Honduras and the region to come up with similar stories that are based on our daily realities. All together it was a fun movie, a bit short but worth it. The movie was also released at the right time... Honduras needed it!!!

Without doubt Polache's music is amazing!! I think he is one the best musicians in Honduras. Hope his next album rocks!!

Muah!! God bless and thanks for doing this in my country!!! AMOR Y FRIJOLES ES EL MEJOR!!!!

good example of independent world cinema
cholutecasur95 November 2009
this is a great example of independent world cinema, made with minimum resources, a light story, a great location, a beautiful country and new actors and excellent quality. amor y frijoles is a good effort to bring to the screen a story from honduras. the story could have been longer in my opinion. did not like the girl who played the role of "karen", she was not to good. "nicole" was great, really gave her role life. i am told she has never acted before... she is a good talent to watch out for.

all in all i give it a 8 out of 10 for the final product. hope to see more films like this soon from honduras. it is a great country with amazing locations.
