After a somewhat disastrous series of The Great British Bake Off last year, with too-tough tasks and a distinct lack of actual baking, we’re going into the new series with our hopes rising like a fresh-out-of-the-oven bread lion.
For one thing, producers have confirmed that they’re going back to basics with the tasks to let the bakers shine at what they do best
But just as promising is the new presenting line-up: after Matt Lucas chose to leave the show last year, Noel Fielding will now be joined by the wonderful Alison Hammond.
The host of This Morning (and former contestant on Big Brother) has grown a reputation for creating laugh-out-loud viral moments. From her textbook style of bringing the best out of celebrity interviews to her entertaining mishaps, Hammond sprinkles magic over every TV show she appears on. Here are the past moments that suggest she could...

"The Great British Baking Show" appears to be cooking up something special for the show's fans. On July 1, just one week after Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively visited the show's iconic white tent, Hugh Jackman slipped a sneaky picture of the show's set into a random photo dump. The "Logan" actor doesn't appear in the photo, but there's no mistaking the inside of the tent. Popsugar reached out to the show's British home, Channel 4, in regards to Jackman's photo, but did not receive an immediate response.
Jackman's photo from the show's set is the third slide in an otherwise random post, which also includes two wildlife photos and a snap of the actor in a hat and sunglasses. He captioned the carousel, "The week that was." Interestingly, both "The Great British Baking Show" judge Paul Hollywood and Reynolds liked Jackman's post.
At this stage, it's unclear whether Jackman will...

For Maria Menounos, this past year can be summed up in three words: “trauma, stress, crisis.”
In an interview with People, published Wednesday, the journalist and AfterBuzzTV CEO opened up about her secret battle with Stage 2 pancreatic cancer that she’s kept hidden from the public. Menounos has been in recovery since a January diagnosis led to her having a 3.9-cm. tumor removed from her body. Meanwhile, she and husband Keven Undergaro wait for the birth of their daughter, who will arrive via surrogate.
The tumor removal surgery was completed Feb. 16. The journalist, television presenter and host of the “Health Squad” podcast told People it is now her mission to encourage others to look into their own health problems.
“I need people to know there are places they can go to catch things early,” Menounos said. “You can’t let fear get in the way. I had that moment where...

Colin Kaepernick. Cher. George Clooney. Charlize Theron. Sherry Lansing. Dwyane Wade. Barbara Broccoli. Jennifer Hudson. This may seem like a disparate group of powerful people in the fields of entertainment and sports. But what they have in common is a deep sense of philanthropic commitment — a desire to do something beyond a photo op for the causes that matter to them. And all these people have entrusted the same organization to help them run their charities, the Entertainment Industry Foundation.
“People come to me for advice,” says Lansing, whose blockbuster charity, Stand Up To Cancer, has raised more than $746 million to fund cancer research since she and eight other women founded it in 2008. “I often say to them, ‘You should meet the people at Eif.’ “
In Hollywood, getting Lansing’s endorsement for a philanthropic organization is akin to getting a 100 percent Rotten Tomatoes score, so trusted is the former Paramount...
