About two years ago, we heard that Halle Berry had signed on to star in a horror movie called Mother Land, with genre regular Alexandre Aja on board to direct. Last year, the project went into production under a new title, Never Let Go. Last month, Lionsgate unveiled a teaser poster, which can be seen at the bottom of this article, and announced they will be giving Never Let Go a theatrical release on September 27th. Now a tailer for the film has made its way online, and you can check it out in the embed above!
Berry is joined in the cast by Percy Daggs IV (The Last Days of Ptolemy Grey) and Anthony B. Jenkins (Florida Man). Shawn Levy, Dan Cohen, and Dan Levine of 21 Laps are producing the film with Aja. Cathy Schulman says getting into the movie business was a “bit of an accident.” It was a time before studying cinema was recognized as a fine art, so she was a playwrighting major at Yale. Then someone told her she would average about $1,500 for her plays. Concerned if she could support herself, she was advised to look into the movie business. “I said, ‘What’s that?’” Schulman, now the CEO and president of Welle Entertainment, recalls. “And the next thing you knew, I was in an interview, and I was hired to work on a set, and the rest is history.”
The movie was “Blue Steel,” and the-then 22-year-old Schulman was excited to see the film was being directed by a woman, Kathryn Bigelow. (She didn’t know it would be another 20 years before she worked with a female director.) From those humble beginnings, Schulman would go on to enormous...

Update: A trailer for Never Let Go was shown during the Lionsgate panel at CinemaCon today, and JoBlo’s own Lance Vlcek was in attendance. Here’s a description of what he saw: “Halle Berry and her two kids are living in a cabin after the world ends. This cabin has a rope/pulley system & they must be attached to you when leaving the house. The monsters/entities (they are very vague on what the threat is but its something that is physical) can’t get you with the rope attached to you and so they (monsters?) are trying to convince one child to doubt the rope safety. They want them to detach and if so, we see that it would put them in grave danger. The kids are twins born in a house that they have never left because of the dangers on the outside. The creatures (which you...

While Warner Bros. continues to sit on his adaptation of the Stephen King novel Salem’s Lot, filmmaker Gary Dauberman has gone on to sign a first-look feature deal with Sony’s Screen Gems, where he is expected to “create projects for himself while curating a slate featuring established and up-and-coming filmmakers.” One of the projects he has set up at Screen Gems is the video game adaptation Until Dawn, which will be directed by David F. Sandberg. Now Deadline has revealed that Dauberman is going to be producing a film called Ushers for Screen Gems… and we have no idea what Ushers is about, because it’s based on a short story by author Joe Hill (who happens to be a son of Stephen King) that has never been published!

Fighter Box Office Advance Booking Day 1 (2 Days To Go) Updates! (Picture Credit: IMDb)
Deepika Padukone is marking her return to the big screens with another Republic Day release. We all remember the dhamaka Pathaan co-starring Shah Rukh Khan created at the box office last year. But things don’t look as well for Fighter co-starring Hrithik Roshan. Scroll below for advance booking updates for day 1 and a detailed comparison, also including Tiger 3.
Fighter is directed by Siddharth Anand, who was also the mastermind behind Pathaan. In fact, the film marks his second collaboration with Hrithik Roshan after War. Considering there are big names involved, the hype should have been at par by now. But the pre-booking sales have been underwhelming so far.

The need of the hour was for Fighter to at least add 2 crores gross to its kitty each day with the release around the corner.

We’re just 3 days away from the grand release of Fighter. Expectations are very high as it’s the first major Bollywood release of 2024. So far, the pace is good, but now, the biggie needs to amp up the game to amass a bumper box office collection on day 1. Keep reading to know more!
Fighter slows down after the initial superb start?
On Saturday, the Hrithik Roshan starrer showed a tremendous response, and within a few hours, the mark of 1 crore gross was reached. The momentum continued till Sunday morning, and tickets worth 2 crores gross were sold in no time. However, throughout the entire Sunday, the ticket-selling rate wasn’t up to an expected mark as the distance of even 1 crore wasn’t covered.

All the way back in 1982, Stephen King and the late great George A. Romero collaborated on the first Creepshow film, an anthology-based homage to the horror comic books of the 1950s. In the intervening years it has become a cult classic, a film remembered fondly by most. It is, even all these years later, still a wonderful movie. 2019 saw Creepshow return, but this time as an anthology television show that aired on the horror streaming platform, Shudder; and when that was announced I was immediately excited, being a big fan of Creepshow and Creepshow 2 for that matter (but the less said about aert three the better). Premiering on September 26th, the first season of Creepshow featured six episodes, with two separate tales to be found in each of those episodes.

The episode of Wtf Happened to This Horror Movie? covering Maniac (2012) was Written by Emilie Black, Narrated by Travis Hopson, Edited by Jaime Vasquez, Produced by Andrew Hatfield and John Fallon, and Executive Produced by Berge Garabedian.
More and more remakes. So many remakes. Not all are good, some would even say that most remakes are trash. However, some are good, some are great even. This leads us to this movie, the remake of Maniac (watch it Here) released to the general public in 2013. While some hated it and with reason, others loved it, also with reason. The film is one of those that made changes that worked for the story and helped bring it to the new audience, who then turned around and saw the original. Well, some of them did. However, this remake didn’t exactly hit it big at the box office and it still seems to be finding its audience.

Being one of Stephen King‘s children, author Joe Hill has a connection to the Creepshow franchise that goes back to its very beginning – in fact, Hill was in the original, classic 1982 film (watch it Here) that was written by King and directed by George A. Romero. He’s the kid in the wraparound segments. Decades later, Hill’s stories By the Silver Water of Lake Champlain, Twittering from the Circus of the Dead, and Mums were brought to the screen in episodes of the Creepshow TV series on the Shudder streaming service. And now another one of his stories, Wolverton Station, is getting the Creepshow comic book treatment. The one shot comic book Creepshow: Joe Hill’s Wolverton Station is set to reach store shelves (and digital stores) on Wednesday, March 27th.

Despite the damage author J.K. Rowling has done to her own legacy, the Harry Potter films gave us some wonderful actors like Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter), Emma Watson (Hermione Granger), and Rupert Grint (Ron Weasley). It also showcased actors at the top of their field, like the late Alan Rickman (Severus Snape) and Michael Gambon (Albus Dumbledore). They might seem like unlikely people to take on a series of films about kids with magic (they do tell you never to work with animals or children), yet they are beloved for their performances.
As it turns out, Rickman and Gambon had a bit of fun with their roles and the kids they were acting with. They played a major prank on Daniel Radcliffe during a big scene where all the students are sleeping in sleeping bags in the Great Hall, according to a 2014 Reddit Ama that Radcliffe did to promote his film "Horns.

Harry Potter coming to its conclusion was an emotional time for the actors involved. So much so that the cast and crew considered branding themselves with a permanent reminder of their time on set. But although Rupert Grint was interested in the idea, it seemed a few of his co-stars weren’t on board.

Grint and Watson had different feelings regarding how to commemorate the end of the Harry Potter franchise. According to Grint, they considered inking themselves. To honor both the movies and the character, the tattoos would’ve referenced Harry Potter’s iconic look.
“There was talk between us about doing something like a tattoo,” Grint once told Daily Mirror. “It would have been something subtle like Harry’s lightning scar. It would’ve been a great way of marking the end of filming.

Daniel Radcliffe has responded to inquiries about whether he would reprise as Harry Potter for Max’s upcoming in-development episodic adaptation of J.K. Rowling’s novels. The actor spoke to ComicBook.com while promoting the fourth season of TBS’s “Miracle Workers” and shot down the notion while wishing whomever takes his place as “the boy who lived” the best of luck.
“My understanding is that they’re trying to very much start fresh and I’m sure whoever is making them will want to make their own mark on it and probably not want to have to figure out how to get old Harry to cameo in this somewhere,” Radcliffe stated. “So, I’m definitely not seeking it out in any way. Redfall recently released to a critical panning. Gamers and reviewers alike have decried the game as buggy and boring, which unfortunately seems to be a bad sign for Xbox Series X/S’ next upcoming exclusive, Starfield.
At first glance, this logic kind of makes sense since both games share the publisher, Bethesda Softworks. However, Hi-Fi Rush was also published by Bethesda, and that title is awesome, possibly “Game of the Year” material. How could Hi-Fi Rush’s quality and Redfall’s lack thereof spell doom for Starfield? Well, it’s because a notable Hi-Fi Rush leaker previously had some interesting things to say about the state of both games.

All good things must come to an end, and it looks like that's going to be the case for "Ted Lasso" on Apple TV+ after the conclusion of its in-progress third season. But it's certainly better to let something end on its own terms rather than drag it out for far too long. Fans will still have something special to take away from the experience, as will star Juno Temple, who plays fan-favorite Keeley Jones on the show. Temple actually earned some real-life benefits from playing the part, including gaining some insight into her own career.
Speaking with Town & Country, Temple was asked about how the role of Keeley has actually impacted her life. In response, the actress explained that her time on the show provided some incredibly valuable insight into both her personal and professional lives:
"She's definitely taught me more about being kinder to myself. She's got such a light about her.

Following up his semi-autobiographical tale Armageddon Time––a film which sadly seemed to get the short shrift upon release last year––James Gray was developing a John F. Kennedy biopic, but now the filmmaker is shifting gears for a project that will reunite him with Focus Features.
His next film will be Ezekiel Moses, Deadline reports. Written by Keith Bunin, the script appeared on the Black List about a decade ago when Philip Seymour Hoffman became attached to direct it. It’s now in the hands of Gray, who will tell the depression-era ghost story about a young, imaginative boy living in a small town who befriends a mysterious drifter who may or may not have the supernatural ability to communicate with the dead.
With Likely Story producing the film and Bunin recently updating a draft of the script, pre-production will get underway shortly, so hopefully we could see the...

In the spring of 2020, two films starring Daniel Radcliffe came out, almost back-to-back.
In Escape From Pretoria, he played Tim Jenkin, the real-life anti-apartheid activist and former political prisoner who in 1978 was part of a daring and successful breakout — using secretly made wooden keys — from a South African jail.
In Guns Akimbo, he played Miles, a computer programmer in a bonkers near-future who wakes up one morning to find that a criminal kingpin’s gang of henchmen — including a masked guy called Fuckface — had bloodily bolted guns onto each of his hands.
For those who had been keeping an eye on Radcliffe’s post-Harry Potter career, this quick-fire double of taut historical prison thriller and insane action-comedy sci-fi felt like the perfect summary as he neared almost a decade since leaving one of the world’s most successful movie franchises.

Hugh Jackman may be suiting up to play the X-Men favorite one last time in the Marvel Cinematic Universe for Deadpool 3, but fans have been rampantly throwing around names for the future MCU incarnation of Wolverine. One name that’s been pretty popular is that of former Harry Potter franchise star Daniel Radcliffe. But don’t hold your breath waiting for Radcliffe’s acceptance of the role.
The actor is currently doing promotion for his upcoming musical biopic parody, Weird: The Al Yankovic Story. IndieWire reports on the star’s reaction to fan rumors that he will be dawning the claws. Radcliffe explains,
It’s purely a press tour rumor. I say something, and then occasionally, I get bored of answering that way, so I say something different, and that sets it off again. I should just never open my mouth. I just don’t ever want to get...

Daniel Radcliffe earned has earned himself some serious indie film street cred in the eleven years since the “Harry Potter” film franchise came to an end. He has spent a better part of the last decade working on small, creative films like “Swiss Army Man” and “Horns,” but the actor is gradually re-entering the limelight. He gave a villainous turn in the Channing Tatum-Sandra Bullock comedy “The Lost City” earlier this year, and currently promoting his highest profile post-“Potter” role to date: “Weird: The Al Yankovic Story.”
His renewed interest in making bigger movies has led to inevitable speculation about superhero roles. In particular, many fans have suggested that he should take over the character of Wolverine from Hugh Jackman (who vacated the role before agreeing to reprise it in “Deadpool 3”).
But fans shouldn’t get their hopes up. In a new interview with GQ, Radcliffe...

Acting may seem like the most glamorous job on the planet – provided you’re good at it, that is.
Actors like Daniel Day Lewis and Leonardo DiCaprio have become synonymous with talent and charisma. But names like Adam Sandler or Hayden Christensen have something of a different connotation.
However, filmmaking is a collaborative process, and a dodgy performance is seldom the responsibility of just one person.
That’s why, every so often, a much-maligned actor will suddenly pop up to deliver a performance of real heft and accomplishment.
Sometimes, this finally gives the actor their due, and they are lavished with awards and industry praise.
Other times, people don’t even bat an eyelid – but the work speaks for itself.
From Arnold Schwarzenegger to Vince Vaughn, here are 17 brilliant performances by critically maligned actors, selected by The Independent…

Nat Wolff is set to star opposite Lucy Hale in upcoming romantic comedy Which Brings Me to You.
The feature will reunite the Palo Alto, Paper Towns and The Kill Team actor with filmmaker Peter Hutchings (Can You Keep a Secret?, Then Came You), who directed their recent hit The Hating Game. Production is due to start in New York City and New Jersey on September 19th.
From a screenplay by Keith Bunin (Onward, Horns) adapted from the novel by Julianna Baggot and Steve Almond, Which Brings Me to You follows Jane (Hale), a freelance journalist, and Will (Wolf)), a photographer, who are immediately drawn to each other at a mutual friend’s wedding. After the pair sneak off to hook up in the coat room, all signs point to an empty one-night stand. Instead, over the next 24 hours, they share stories of their most embarrassing sexual encounters,...

My number one goal when speaking with Joe Hill is to not bring up his father. After all, Hill has carved out a massively successful career as a novelist and comic book writer, penning books like "Horns," "NOS4A2," and "The Fireman" as well as comic series like "Locke and Key." He's his own man, his own singular talent, and has long escaped being compared to his dad, a horror writer you may have heard of named Stephen King. But a few minutes into our conversation, Hill himself brings it up and clears the air: Yes, he's a Stephen King...

If you asked your average non-Daniel Radcliffe super-fan what they thought of his movie "Horns," they would probably give you a blank or confused look. Director Alexandre Aja's horror-comedy bombed at the box office in 2013, grossing a meager 3.9 million. Critics were also tepid on the film as a whole, although it certainly has its admirers. Their ranks include /Film's Hannah Shaw-Williams, who included "Horns" among her favorite movies of all time. Calling it a "a strangely lovely film about finding that one oasis of happiness in an ugly world," Hannah argued that Aja, Radcliffe, and writer Keith Bunin "miraculously"...

The second feature film (after several TV projects) based on the work of horror author Joe Hill, Scott Derrickson’s The Black Phone expands on a short story in ways that feel very true to the source material while significantly enhancing its theatrical appeal. It was never in doubt that this would be a more commercial outing than the deeply odd (but effective, in its way) 2013 adaptation Horns, but the picture also dovetails nicely with the current vogue for retro-set genre fare, lightly scratching a nostalgic itch without seeming at all like it’s trying to ride Stranger Things’ coattails. The film tells the story of a young woman (Mélanie Laurent), who wakes up in a cryogenic pod. She doesn’t remember who she is or how she ended up there. It is, for the best part of its brisk running time, a stomach-churning ride that bursts with the same force and anxieties of another recent–but far superior–single-setting drama: Steven Knight’s Locke. Daniel Radcliffe began acting when he was 6 years old, playing a monkey in a school play. By the time he was 12, he was an international movie star, taking on the role of Harry Potter in a series of film adaptations of J.K. Rowling’s books. He went on to portray everything from a World War I soldier killed in battle to a talking corpse with digestive issues to a political prisoner. Just take a look at his impressive body of work.

How good is Pixar at making audiences cry in the last 10 minutes of a movie? So good that the studio serves up a moving finale to “Onward” when everything that comes before that ending has been rather spotty, particularly when compared to the studio’s greatest achievements.
It’s the same strategy behind a band saving its hit songs for the encore — make the audience leave on a high and they’ll forget the less successful parts — but while the film’s sentimental climax will have filmgoers walking into the lobby still dabbing away their tears, it doesn’t entirely expiate “Onward” of its many flaws.
The film is set in a world where magic once thrived, where pegasuses shared the sky with dragons while centaurs roamed the land. Then someone invented the light bulb, and the denizens of this reality decided electrical engineering was easier to learn than wizardry,...

If people are wondering what happens to Harry Potter stars after their run in the movies this might not be the best movie to point them towards when it comes to Daniel Radcliffe, unless of course they’re ready to see the most insane and wild adventure that the former Boy Who Lived is currently engaged in. Former “Harry Potter” star Daniel Radcliffe is doing just fine starring in indies and offbeat comedies, thank you very much. The actor, who recently spoke with Variety to promote his true-life prison drama “Escape From Pretoria,” talked about his choices post-Hogwarts and why he’s content not to revisit the J.K Rowling franchise ever again. Specifically, would he ever want to reprise his role as The Boy Who Lived in the ongoing “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” film series? It has a third entry coming in 2021 from director David Yates, and with nearly $1.5 billion in grosses for the break-off franchise so far, expect no end in sight.

Daniel Radcliffe continues to move far away from Hogwarts with “Escape From Pretoria,” a riveting, true-life prison drama that’s gritty, grounded and wholly different from the fantasy franchise that made him a star.
The indie release hits theaters on March 6 and finds Radcliffe playing Tim Jenkin, an anti-apartheid activist who was imprisoned in South Africa for distributing political pamphlets that were critical of the racist government. Sentenced to 12 years behind bars, Jenkin cooks up an ingenious plan to break out of Pretoria Central Prison.
Radcliffe spoke to Variety about researching his role in the film, his love of the stage and why he won’t be reprising his role as Harry Potter anytime soon.
