- An advertisement for Cobra Kai plays. Terry Silver, now having fully taken over the dojo since framing John Kreese for assault, has moved into brand new buildings with top of the line equipment and dojos full of new students, led by Cobra Kai's All-Valley Girls Champion, Tory.
Chozen has moved into the LaRusso house at Daniel's invitation, but his presence and strange mannerisms put Amanda on edge. Daniel insists Chozen is needed to fight back against Terry Silver and the Cobra Kai expansion, but Amanda argues that with Sam and Tory having finished their fight fairly, and Kreese in prison, they should be returning to normal instead. Meanwhile, Miguel makes it to Ceuta, Mexico. He has an address where he thinks his father is, but his phone loses service. A group of Australian surfers offer a map to help him find his way, but while they mark it down, they steal his belongings, and demand most of his money to get them back. Just beyond the Mexican border, Johnny and Robby stop for supplies. Robby has worked out that the ride is not a supposed "father/son bonding trip", and asks why they are really there.
Daniel calls his students, including All-Valley Boys Champion Eli, to the dojo. He tells them that as per the deal with Cobra Kai, since they lost the overall competition, he must close down Miyagi-Do. His students are disappointed, and Sam feels guilty for losing the final match. She wants to help Daniel fight back, but worried for her and the other kids' safety, he tells her stay out of it. Miguel goes to the address on the map, a local dive bar, and finds a group of men gambling in a back room. He goes and asks the leader, the man he suspects to be his father, about Carmen and Rosa. However, the men do not take kindly to being questioned, and after a brief fight, the leader tells him he never knew anyone named Carmen. Realizing he has the wrong man, Miguel leaves. On the road, Johnny admits to Robby that they are there to look for Miguel before he finds his father, a dangerous man named Hector Salazar. Robby is upset, but unsurprised. Johnny has virtually no plan, and while they talk Johnny gets run off the road and flattens a tire.
Daniel shows Chozen Cobra Kai's ad, and tells him they need to be careful with Terry. In the LaRusso home dojo, Samantha is going over the footage from the All-Valley and trying to figure out what she should have done differently, the weight of her father's legacy hanging heavily on her. Miguel, having hit a dead end in his search, gets service back and calls her, and she tells him how worried they all are for him. She is also upset at him for running out on her during the tournament, and while they argue Miguel overhears a man matching his father's description being called "Hector". Johnny and Robby fix the tire, Johnny explaining how he and Daniel looked for Robby after he himself ran away. Johnny tells him now he has to do the same for Miguel. Daniel and Chozen go to Cobra Kai's flagship location, where they see Kenny and other students recruiting many kids right off the street. Chozen sees Terry training in the window, and is troubled to recognize the style as that of Kim Sun-Yung, someone who Daniel had always assumed was made up by Silver. They go home, and Chozen explains that Kim Sun-Yung, a Korean Tang Soo Do Master, was a controversial figure in the Martial Arts community. He demonstrates a style based on deception and dishonorable fighting tactics, such as attacking while bowing. Daniel doesn't want to attack Silver directly, but rather expose his true nature to everyone. Chozen suggests using his own methods against him.
In Mexico, Miguel follows "Hector" through the neighborhood, where it seems he is a kind, popular and well-respected member of the community. He also sees Hector has a wife and young son. While he watches them, he sees the boy run into the street to get his ball, and Miguel pulls him out of the way of a speeding car. Hector introduces himself as Hector Salazar. He and his wife are relieved and grateful to Miguel, and offer to have him over for dinner to say thanks.
Johnny and Robby make it Ceuta, and Johnny offers Robby bus fare to get home. He finds the surfers, who tell him they remember Miguel, and try to pull off the same map scam on him while they pick his pocket. Johnny catches them however, and Robby backs him up to defeat the entire group when a fight breaks out. Later, Johnny apologizes for bringing Robby into this, but Robby decides to stay and try to make things right by helping his dad. They bond, and prepare to follow the map from the surfers.
Daniel locks up the Miyagi-Do dojo, and spends more quality time with Amanda. Tory feels conflicted about her "victory" at the All-Valley. Meanwhile at Cobra Kai, Terry prepares to test a group of prospective new senseis, including Chozen, who's gone undercover.
