If Chris Evans hated one thing about his role as Captain America, it was the time he spent making public appearances for the promotions. Evans shared that his anxiety made him a less-than-ideal candidate for such appearances. He mostly avoided appearing in shows where he had to perform in front of an audience, which meant he was one of the few MCU lead stars not to host an SNL episode.

Withering exasperation is not an emotion one usually expects to encounter at great length in a family film. But what else could John Krasinski have been seeking when he secured Ryan Reynolds to star as a sad clown in his mawkish new live-action fairy tale, If? Reynolds plays Cal, a New York City lump who’s saddled himself with the responsibility of looking after a cavalry of imaginary friends, a.k.a. fanciful cartoon critters forgotten by the children who dreamt them into existence. His handsome face swallowed by hangover stubble,...

Only the hardest of hearts could have failed to be moved through Avengers: Endgame, especially through Chris Evans’ performance of them all. As much of a joyride as it felt because of those witty dialogues and scenes, it was also one of the most heartbreaking films in the history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, surpassing even Avengers: Infinity War in its battle of being a total tear-jerker.
Avengers: Endgame (2019).
That being said, while the movie in itself was one thing in terms of a heart-wrenching storyline, even the sets of the film managed to make one Avenger’s mother burst into tears! This Avenger was none other than the beloved former Captain America portrayer Evans, and his mother actually turned into a sobbing mess after seeing him on the sets of the 2019 blockbuster for an understandable reason.

Actor Adam Scott, who was recently seen by some movie-goers in Madame Web, has chosen the project he wants to make his feature directorial debut with – and while Scott is probably best known for his performances in comedy projects like Knocked Up, Step Brothers, Parks and Recreation, Wet Hot American Summer: Ten Years Later, Ghosted, and Party Down, he’s not going to be directing a comedy. Instead, his first directorial effort is a revenge thriller called Double Booked, which he’ll also be starring in… and Deadline reports that he has chosen a great supporting cast to surround himself with. The results are in on the 2024 Razzie Awards, and it was a very big (but not necessarily great) night for one movie and one actress this year.
The annual awards show, which took place one day before the 2024 Oscars on Saturday (March 9), hands out awards to performers and movies that have been deemed the “worst.”
Going into the ceremony, Expend4bles led the pack of nominees with 7 nods in categories such as Worst Picture and Worst Prequel, Remake, Rip-Off of Sequel.
However, when it came time for the awards to be handed out, another movie swept the field, picking up five Razzies. One actress also won big, being named Worst Actress and Worst Supporting Actress.
However, one Hollywood icon received redemption this year!

Slasher film Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey swept the five categories it was nominated in for at the 44th annual Razzies, which “honor” the worst of filmmaking. The awards were announced today.
‘Winnie the Pooh’ won the Razzie in the picture, director, screenplay, screen couple and remake/rip-off/sequel categories. The film, based on the beloved children’s literary character, follows Pooh and Piglet, who have become feral and bloodthirsty murderers. They terrorize a group of young university women and the returning Christopher Robin.
The Razzie Redeemer Award, bestowed on a past contender who has “gone on to better things” since being nominated for a Razzie, went to “The Nanny” actor and SAG-AFTRA President Fran Drescher for her leadership during the 2023 actor strike.
Drescher was nominated in 1998 for worst actress in the romantic comedy film The Beautician and the Beast.

Awards season tends to give movie fans all of the glitz and glamor that we love about Hollywood…That is, until it doesn’t. Out of all the roles he has taken on to date, the one that most perfectly fits Chris Evans is that of Marvel’s fan-favorite superhero, Captain America. That being said, when his character passed on the iconic shield to the Falcon in Avengers: Endgame to carry on his legacy as Captain America, fans were utterly heartbroken and were looking for one way or another for him to return.

Sam Rockwell probably isn’t anyone’s idea of a suave secret agent, but that seems to be just the point for director Matthew Vaughn. He cast the Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri Oscar winner against type and let him rip with a witty, eminently watchable performance that lets him steal every scene he is in.
If only the movie, Argylle, were a star vehicle for him in the same way that, say, Hitchcock’s North by Northwest was for Cary Grant in its day, this pseudo spy thriller might have been a classic. But unfortunately too much of it, especially the final half hour of this two-hour-plus frenetic action picture, just throws it all against the wall to see what sticks. Awards season is here, which means it is also time for the annual Golden Raspberry Awards. The Razzies, which aims to (dis)honor the least successful films of the year, has announced nominations for its 44th edition.
The most-nominated film is “Expend4bles,” the fourth entry in the action-packed, but critically underwhelming, “The Expendables” franchise. It received seven nominations. Tied for second place with five noms are “The Exorcist: Believer,” the revival of the classic horror series, and “Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey,” a blood-soaked take on everyone’s favorite honey-loving bear. Two big-budget superhero movies, DC’s “Shazam! Fury of the Gods” and Marvel’s “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania,” both got four nominations.

Stars: Scott Adkins, Waleed Elgadi, Tom Berenger, Meena Rayann, Michael Jai White, Aaron Toney | Written by Jamie Russell | Directed by James Nunn
Not only is One More Shot filmed with the illusion of being one long take like its predecessor 2021’s One Shot, it does something more important. It reunites director James Nunn and writer Jamie Russell with the previous film’s leads, Scott Adkins as Navy Seal Jake Harris and Waleed Elgadi as terrorist Amin Mansur.
Following the events of the first film, Harris is escorting Mansur back to the US where they plan to get him to reveal the whereabouts of a dirty bomb set to explode during the State of the Union Address, which the President, of course, refuses to postpone. For leverage, CIA Agent Marshall has brought Mansur’s pregnant wife Niesha to meet his plane. But they’re not the only ones there to meet the flight.

Role Play Movie Review: A Familiar Take On The Retired Assassin Trope Makes For An Entertaining Ride
Role Play Movie Review Rating:
Star Cast: Kaley Cuoco, David Oyelowo, Bill Nighy, and Connie Nielsen.
Director: Thomas Vincent
Role Play Movie Review Is Out! (Picture Credit: IMDb)
What’s Good: Cuoco and Oyelowo have enough charisma to carry the entire film on their shoulders, and it is actually fun to see them out of their comfort zone.
What’s Bad: The story is too predictable, and the plot might be copied from hundreds of other movies, but The Long Kiss Goodnight is not.
Loo Break: The middle of the movie sags a bit as the story tries to get to where the character makes their final decisions, but it could be more compelling.
Watch or Not?: Only watch if you are in the mood for something you have seen many times before.
Language: English (with subtitles).

Netflix’s big-budget action film from Fast & Furious’s F Gary Gray pairs slick sequences with Hart’s unconvincing art thief
You know the Netflix formula: take a reliable box office trope – the big-budget action movie, the international spy thriller, the hitman and car chase bonanza – repackage it for the laptop screen with evermore disposable wrapping, attach a big name star with a hefty paycheck, release, move on. Such results – Sweet Girl, The Adam Project, The Gray Man, just to name a few – are often widely viewed yet under-discussed, throwaway blockbusters in the house style without much staying power or distinguishable flair.
So there are well-worn and reduced expectations going into Lift, the latest collaboration between Netflix, the comedian Kevin Hart and a tried and true concept. The film does little to outrun them. You know from the first minute, in which Hart’s debonair conman Cyrus Whitaker strolls...

Peacock is ready to get Laid.
The NBCUniversal-backed streamer has handed out a straight-to-series order for Laid, a comedy starring Stephanie Hsu (Everything Everywhere All at Once) and from writers Nahnatchka Khan and Sally Bradford McKenna.

Laid revolves around a woman who finds out that her former lovers are dying in unusual ways and must go back through her “sex timeline” to confront her past in order to move forward. A competent yet boringly unoriginal caper sees a married couple forced into action when the wife’s secret job as an assassin comes to light
Rather like the studio horror movie, the bar for the action comedy has lowered so dramatically that the mere act of not tripping over it headfirst is now considered enough. Modeled after an old-fashioned, something-for-him and something-for-her date-night formula, they tend to involve attractive stars smugly quipping at each other while sleekly avoiding pop-soundtracked gunfire, all theoretically allowing for the opportunity to show off dual personas, class clown and jock rolled into one.
But the magic that was on display in 2005’s magnetic Mr & Mrs Smith, a film that has arguably had the most visible, and damaging, impact on the genre in the almost two decades since (itself heavily in debt to 1994’s True Lies), has been almost entirely absent in its many imitators.

Plot: Dan Morgan loves his quiet suburban life as a devoted husband, father of three and successful car salesman. But that’s only half the story. Decades earlier, he was an elite government assassin tasked with eliminating the world’s deadliest threats. When enemies from his past track him down, Dan packs his unsuspecting wife, angsty teen daughter, pro-gamer teen son and adorable 10-month-old baby into their minivan and takes off on an impromptu cross-country road trip to Las Vegas. Determined to protect his family — while treating them to the vacation of a lifetime — Dan must put his long-dormant skills into action, without revealing his true identity.
Review: Mark Wahlberg’s recent output has been mixed at best. For every solid acting project, Wahlberg has churned out awful action (Infinite), terrible comedy (Me Time), and a couple of attempts at franchises. The actor’s latest project blends humor and action in The Family Plan.

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for NCIS: Sydney Episode 4 “Ghosted.”] NCIS: Sydney offers a little insight into team leader Mackey (Olivia Swann) in the latest episode, with the investigation forcing her to open up about her past. While the team has someone in custody claiming he killed the victim, and Mackey is willing to believe it at first — she is very much against deserters, as Frank (Linal Haft) was after serving and receiving the Navy Cross — it soon becomes clear there’s more than it seems to the case. And so, in an attempt to get Frank to talk, Mackey reveals that while she was stationed in Afghanistan, three guys wandered off base and wound up in a village on the wrong side of the border. She disobeyed a direct order and with two others,...

Arnold Schwarzenegger may have set the standard of an action-tough guy making an unlikely family comedy that features him taking care of children. The comedic dynamic of said concept has so much potential that many have tried their hand at it, including Vin Diesel in The Pacifier, Dwayne Johnson in The Game Plan, Jackie Chan in The Spy Next Door and Dave Bautista in My Spy. Mark Wahlberg is throwing his hat in the ring for AppleTV+’s The Family Plan, which just released its first trailer. The family film os set to release on December 15.
According to People, Wahlberg plays “a suburban dad and car salesman named Dan Morgan — whose secret past as an elite government assassin comes back to haunt him.” The synopsis continues, “When enemies from his past track him down, Dan packs his unsuspecting wife (Michelle Monaghan), angsty teen daughter, pro-gamer teen son and adorable 10-month-old...

Mélanie Laurent directs and leads this frothy and undemanding Charlie’s Angels-esque caper that has fun moments but fizzles into nothing

But Laurent, to her credit as director, is less interested in how a shootout can work as an aphrodisiac, and more invested in how it would affect a female friendship.
And so the first time we see her and Bff, played by Adèle Exarchopoulos, fresh from Passages, they’re bantering about the latter’s lacklustre love life while...
