Good story, acting and filming, but..
rschilke25 December 2021
I thought the story was well written, the acting was very good and the filming/setting was very good. The pacing though left a lot to be desired. It reaches a new level of slowness I have not experienced yet in all the other series I have watched. I also removed a rate for some of the scenes where hand-held camera is used. Some camera people need to learn how to hold a camera still, so frustrating! Overall not bad.

Good, but very slow.

A very good story, well filmed and acted, but the pace was just too slow. The scenery is stunning well captured. The slow pace had style, but I think they over did the slowness. Worth a watch.

Good start in the very North part of Norway
adahrenberg10 April 2022
Just seen a bit in but so far it's slow BUT in a typical kind of noir.

Will update more later on.

Is this close to Tromsö or Langstrand?

Anyone how knows?

Superslow without any passion
pestridsman10 March 2022
Every episode is super slow an everybody talks completely without any form of passion. It is like they go in slow motion also when they communicate with each other. Maybe it is a try to be deep but it is definitely not ....

If you want to watch paint dry...
Filmville14 March 2022
I wasted several hours of my life (and wife too!) on this ultra boring, elongated, no-acting thing. Why did they even do this, it escapes me!

If you want to watch it ... please watch just the episode preview intros and this way in eight-ten minutes you have watched the whole story/series. What a waste of resources.

Not for me
laduqesa30 January 2022
I deleted the whole series after episode one. I really don't like this "there is evil here" type of story. Give me a police investigation without the religious strand please.

I found the elderly policewoman angle not plausible. Come on! She supposedly has a month to live or maybe as long as two weeks. She wouldn't be able to move, let alone be able to return to her desk at the cop shop. And what doctor would have signed her in as fit to work, especially as the local GP had gone missing?

Why did I give three stars? Just for the landscapes and the local cops who acted their roles well.

I hate leaving short reviews but this is utterly not recommended.

A tale of good vs evil
lisbethinsydney29 December 2021
After Outlier comes this equally captivating investigation into a Norwegian village covering up a terrible secret. As the new police officer in town, Mathilde Sofie Henrikson carries this series with her quiet, determined stillness, intuition and intelligence. This is as much about looking the other way as finding out the truth. High quality Scandinavian acting, script, direction and photography, which is now to be expected. Beautiful, spare, with an elemental religious interpretation of events echoing throughout.

Hopeful, but disappointed
hilde-107-1567404 March 2022
I hoped this was a good series, but it took one episode to know it lacked a lot. Gave an impression to be made as a school project. With characters that had no energy. And where is the plot and story. Extremely sagging. It doesn't help to put sami some joik in it to make it interesting.

I reminds me of the series Wisting that has shown to be equally slow and with zombie like figures, where you are sorry you wasted time on it.

With catch and release I didn't waste more time than one episode, thankfully.

From mildly interesting to agony in eight episodes
bbosma-244034 July 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I hoped it would get better. That was my mistake. It started okay. Mildly intriguing. Bit sooooo slow. Every character moved in slow motion. Talked in slower motion. With pauses that went forever. And in the end, nothing made sense. Nothing. Why were all the young girls of the village participating in the prostitution they so clearly hated, so clearly feared, that so clearly shattered them? Never explained. Why did an already super rich man run this small scale prostitution ring as a side line to...a tourism, fishing business? Who killed the husband and wife, and why? How did the girl in the basement die? Not explained. Why would a police station be closed down because an investigation wasn't considered well conducted? Just infuriating. And all done at the speed of a heavily sedated snail.

S..l...o...w
Cycledoc10 February 2024
This is a poorly conceived series that would have been better, perhaps as a 1 or 2 hour drama. It started off slowly and the moved even slower to the nonsensical climax after 8 episodes. Some bloodshed at the end not overly violent however. This reviewing site won't accept an shorish review so I'm extending it in this sentence for two or threee. The aciting is hardly worth mentioning as there is little dialogue. The director seems to specialize in long silences followed by inaction. About the only thing worth watching is the scenery which is spectacular. I'd avoid. I'm told I need another 29 characters so now I can finish.

Not for the fidgety nor the meek
pwk-0226220 November 2023
People do not want you to watch this. They will throw up bad reviews. Thousands of children go missing every year. Rich and powerful forces exist in every town. Secrets are there. Promises made and kept. The pacing is slow because this stuff really needs time to be taken in, digested, processed. The scenery, music, lighting, photography are all top notch and the directors have talent to spare. If you seek action, gunfights, traffic, slapstick, humor, and want to be thrilled, well then a northern fishing village is not the place to look. This is a crime drama for the ages. Evil exists. See it in the news daily.

Well constructed
whar-606916 February 2022
I watched all episodes of Series 1 in 2 sittings, which for me borders on binge watching. The pace at which the plot developed was just right. The questions and statements by the investigators were met with silence that was itself informative. Its good to see a story unfold at the right pace rather than the usual wide-eyed "I've got it" moments or OMG exclamations. The character of the inexperienced policewoman played by Henrikson was very good: A mix of uncertainty, frustration and thoughtful analysis of the events happening around her.

Recommended.
