Book 74
bobcobb3012 April 2023
Warning: Spoilers
For the first time I really found myself questioning some of the decisions from this show especially how the Pastor was able to capture Sara and how much he has invested in the notion that maybe he is special and that they have been chosen for a reason. I don't want the show to head down that route, but I worry it will be now.

At least they're analyzing the ridiculous nature of electricity here, but what about the food? You can't get everything from cows and goats so where are all the other meal ingredients coming from? A mystery I worry we may never end up knowing the answer to this, but we'll see.

Asking Questions That Must Have Been Asked
wildernessbarbie13 March 2022
So the newcomers set out to try and answer some questions... where does the power come from? Can they get a radio to work? Also (sort of) asking some new ones... why is that lamp flickering? Where did the flowers come from? Of course there's no answers to most... it's "only" episode 6/10!

I get that the longer term residents have accepted their circumstances as a way of coping with the impossible... but the incredible lack of curiosity among the majority is bizarre. Weird new stuff happens every day!

You'd think they'd have set a very strong "If you see something, say something" protocol, as you never know what might be helpful (like the protection stones). Of course that would demolish the basic plots lines, but still.

Would be great if kids and teens could be portrayed as something other than helpful idiots, entitled brats, or ignorantly evil. Why do these kinds of shows hate the younger generations so much?

Still intrigued, but I'm about ready to write off watching any new shows like this until the season ends, and wait for the reviews to see if it wraps things up before investing my time in it or not. I hope this show doesn't end up pushing me down that path.

A Riveting Twist in the Tale
ameerbarram6 July 2023
The sixth episode of "From" delivers a captivating twist in the tale, showcasing the show's ability to keep viewers on the edge of their seats. Titled "A Riveting Twist in the Tale," this episode proves to be a standout in the first season, leaving audiences eagerly anticipating what lies ahead.

One of the strongest aspects of this episode is the writing. The script is cleverly crafted, with each line serving a purpose in advancing the plot and revealing more about the characters. The dialogue is sharp and engaging, keeping the audience fully invested in the narrative. The writers have successfully managed to create a sense of suspense and intrigue, leaving viewers guessing at every turn.

The pacing of the episode is commendable. The plot unfolds at a brisk pace, never allowing the audience to lose interest. The director's choice to focus on the characters' emotional turmoil adds depth to the story, making it more than just a mere thriller. The performances of the cast members are top-notch, with each actor bringing their A-game to the table.

Visually, the episode is a treat for the eyes. The cinematography is stunning, with each shot carefully composed to enhance the mood and atmosphere of the scene. The use of lighting and color palettes effectively conveys the emotions of the characters, adding an extra layer of depth to the storytelling. The production design and costumes are also noteworthy, creating a visually immersive experience for the viewers.

Furthermore, the episode successfully answers some of the lingering questions from previous episodes while introducing new mysteries to keep the audience engaged. The narrative twists and turns in unexpected ways, leaving viewers on the edge of their seats. The show's ability to constantly surprise and challenge its audience is a testament to its strong storytelling.

However, one minor drawback of this episode is that it leaves some loose ends unresolved. While this may be intentional to maintain the suspense, it can also leave viewers feeling slightly unsatisfied. It is crucial for the series to provide satisfying answers in future episodes to keep the audience invested in the overall story.

Evolution at work for the "deserters"
cjonesas11 September 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Episode 6: Slow and lame, too slow-paced with semi-soporific acting and unrealistic stuff happening, in fact since the first episode.

Lots of talking, dialogues and half-monologues, without real suspense and thrill. Even the horror fear inducing aspect of the episode has disappeared. 60% in and nothing concrete is in sight besides the beautiful nocturnal apparitions behind windows, ready to seduce flesh loving "deserters".

73 Books???
holly-0152326 May 2023
Warning: Spoilers
The Bible has 66 books. What are they trying to tell us? What books are in his Bible that haven't been written and that aren't in the true gospel? When do we find out? I see a time warp here.

This is by the same producer of 'Lost', so the twists and turns are confusing to say at least. (Another time warp?) Someone else wrote, 'this is more about the people than the monster in the woods.' Just like 'Lost' which also became more about the people and back stories than the smoke monster. I figure the back stories of these people are coming and this series will have a long, and very event filled life!

I love it and can't stop watching!

Going nowhere fast
chebosky6 April 2023
Well I made it this far but this is where I get off. It's a shame because the premise of this show is right up my alley, but it's obvious they are going nowhere fast with this. It's just going to be one contrived setup after another while never actually getting to the central mystery of the show. Namely, it's all interpersonal drama that isn't really unique to this show

I had hoped with 10 episodes we would get a tightly plotted show, but it seems they are going for longevity, so I'm not going to waste my time with this when it will probably just be canceled after a couple seasons where they've barely scratched the surface of what's happening and why.

It's the problem Lost and many other shows of this nature have. They just pile random mysteries on top of each other to distract from the fact they have no idea where to take the story. If they actually answer the big questions, then what? But if they don't they have to keep piling on side plots that really don't matter to pad out the time. I'll pass.

Another filler episode
Honestly this is getting exhausting with non stop conversations about nothing and the odd hallucination. They need to give us something. Whether that be a clue to why they are there or at least show night time with some chaos. This is probably the last episode I'll tune in.

These Are So Beautiful....
wandernn1-81-68327417 April 2023
Did you know that the bible is composed of 73 books? What if we, the people of this town, are living the book that has yet to be written? Hahhahaha.

And what's his name? Jade? Sees a Civil War soldier hallucination trying to stab him? Bizarre...

What I really couldn't stand about this ep. Is the end, when you got an obvious Dimmie at the end about to open a window. No one else is awake. No one else is watching. Just silly in a large group of people to have no one on watch in a hostile environment. Also, how would a group have lasted that long with someone so moronic in their group?

So the last part of the ep. Draws a big 000. 4/10.

Garbage.
SuperGeek116 March 2022
One more episode like this and I'm done. This show definitely has potential but it seems to be going the way of Lost. Endless nonsensical episodes filled with answerless questions. They better show us something worth watching and fast.

Nonsense and going nowhere
chiranjeevi-1979820 March 2022

Second stagnant storyline
bosporan28 March 2022
Very well conceived as a series and main plot, the first few episodes have been entertaining to watch and drew me into the world with elephantine expectation. Four episodes of well crafted scene setting with a fabulous mix of action, dialogue and good paced scenario reveal. Episode five and now six seem to have hit a wall delivering directionless dialogue with little or no action and most grievously a stationary story arc. From a promising beginning, this is heading downhill fast and needs to get back on track.

Book 74
Prismark1017 December 2022
Warning: Spoilers
As the series progresses. It seems to be less about the monster in the woods. Some of the monsters are actually living in the town.

Sara planned to kill Ethan Matthews and accidentally slashed her own brother instead. She went on the run and disappeared.

In this episode Sara is seen held bound in the cellar of Father Khatri. Up to know only Boyd and Father Khatri have kept their heads and showed a moral compass to the townsfolk.

Now Father Khatri wants to know how Sara been communicating with the creatures.

Jade once again shows he is not going to sit back. Jade looks for any avenue to get out of town and comes across strange visions. The town has more than just monsters on the edge.

The big flaw with the newcomer storyline is. The rest of the townsfolk have been too passive in accepting their fate or ignoring some important signs.

I'm really starting to hate this show
adamcomito29 May 2023
When will these writers get it, we don't care about the stinking drama + relationships between the cast. We want horror, suspense and a cohesive plot not hallucinations, story arcs that go nowhere and terrible conversations that add nothing. I'm actually angry that this show has such high ratings. It deserves to be put in the dustbin of history and never spoken about again which is exactly where it's headed. I'm just about ready to stop watching after this episode. You can't just keep adding story arcs and not closing off old stories. You take your viewers for fools and we deserve better. This quality of writing is not acceptable in 2023. You deserve to be cancelled.

alright
Lythas_857 December 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Like other reviewers have said.. it makes no sense the population's lack of interest.. I would imagine they would be like the boys in Maze Runner.. of course, they were able to have kind of a society with a hierarchy and stuff but they were actively trying to map the maze and find ways to leave it..

but here.. they are just ok with it, leaving at the town and carrying on their tasks like they were just leaving in a small country side town ..

instead of having their own crops to maintain food and maybe using the few cattle to make it a rare commodity for plotline, writers just made it that they have like an infinite source of it... wat?

I think they didnt know what to do in the last 2 episodes and just came up with some fillers... boring.

What! No cellphones
psmyvkh28 June 2022
Why doesn't anyone anywhere in this show have a cellphone. That is ridiculous! No one! A tremendous hole from the writers. The show is still a strong one just forget that cellphones ever existed. Lo!
