A Bit Short Sighted

Nikki returns to her birthplace in South Africa. She and Harry are supposed to identify the bodies of some dissidents that have been dug up. But she falls into a horrible political bureaucracy. Leo meets a young girl from Zimbabwe who has asked for asylum in England but who is likely to be returned to be killed. But horrors await her. This is an ugly episode, beyond the usual scope of the series.

A decent, if unremarkable start.

The Lyell team travel to South Africa, Leo is helping a Zimbabwean girl who's been deported from The UK, Harry and Nikki are assisting with a mass burial grave.

I can see that there are somewhat mixed views and opinions about this one, and I can understand why. I like the show most when it has a feasible, believable plot, this one, though not without merit is a little far fetched.

There are some good elements, the visuals first off, are really on point, it looks great, lovely location work. I liked the South Africa flavour, it's very much not just The UK abroad under the sun, culturally it's very different, as are the people, I loved The Detective and The Pathologist.

Leo's story, I'm not sure I could fully believe in it, sad and bleak though it was. Nikki's home return didn't work at all for me.

Not bad, 6/10.

Painful episode

Feels stilted and awkward. A very painful subject matter that deserves focus is made into 2 hours of average TV.

Harry, the South African cop and pathologist are the only enjoyable parts of this show.

script written by the janitor

From my experience when a script is so badly written it my have been done by a fill in writer comically the janitor writer. This show has the worst ever I am sure Sam would never acted in this episode. yes we have been watching this show that long.

Another jaunt to Africa...boring.

So disappointing and unbelievable that three very busy forensic pathologists in London could all go on an expedition to South Africa ...I just wish they would stick to working in the UK.
