[6.7] The pieces and the lighting
cjonesas10 May 2022
Episode 12: Real matters of 40 to 67percent interest in this episode, mainly the families, surrounding plots, sub-plots and some instructive fillers in the psycho-scientific viewpoint; it's dragging, it's dragging in an original fashion in each episode, likes pieces of a lame puzzle under very dim lighting.

The cast list seems incomplete
erichtheformatter20 June 2017
I've only watched the first season so far, but "The Good Wife" seems to be a solid show in the genre of the legal drama (pioneer, "L.A. Law", later "Boston Legal" and others). At any rate, I was disappointed when I tried to find the name of an actress on the IMDb cast list; although it's a relatively small bit part she plays in episode 12 ("Painkiller"), as the distraught mother of the fatally overdosed football player son, the actress used to be well-known back in the 80s I believe. I can't remember her name or the series she was famous for (I was hoping to jog my memory by finding her on IMDb). Can anyone help with this?

The Good Wife, Episode 12: Painkiller-Show Gets Better & Better ****
edwagreen14 January 2010
I certainly hope that "The Good Wife" receives the attention that it deserves on Sunday's Golden Globe Awards.

In this episode, Mrs. Florrick's mother-in-law suffers a stroke and the part-time help that she has hired to watch her children,is not exactly the type of person she has shown to be.

As if this isn't enough, Mrs. F. takes on a case where the a 17 year old student dies of an overdose. As always, the ending is not what you would expect, and as in the tradition of the show, is quite good. Watch out for mothers with crocodile tears.

Christine Baranski is so good in her role as one of the partners in the law firm. She still has that cold veneer when she delivers her lines. That facade is so perfect.

Naturally, we all want Chris Noth to be released from prison, but that would take away from his part. His successor is really the devil in disguise as he is constantly up to mayhem to keep Noth incarcerated.
